It’s time for another Sunday Post!

The sun is shining, it’s warming up to be a beautiful day, and “I’m Alright.” stretching photo: stretching stretching.gif That song is stuck in my head!

Do you remember the gopher in Caddy Shack? The battle between that furry pesky rodent and Bill Murray cracked me up. I have to share a few favorite scenes!

I have watched this movie so many times and I still laugh so hard I almost pee my pants. LOL

I’ve got some awesome books to share with you today. But first lets talk about review ratings.

The other day I was talking with my sister and she asked me a question I’ve been pondering myself. It’s about the Amazon review rating system. You know they changed how the ratings work, what the stars mean. Their rating description doesn’t reflect mine on my blog and my sister asked, do I give a book 5 stars on Amazon when I gave it 4 stars on my blog.

I mostly review books on my blog that I really like. So my ratings are between 3 and 5 stars. A really good book gets a 4 star rating from me but Amazon’s description for a 4 star rating doesn’t coincide with mine. It’s like I need to give it 5 stars to show how I felt about it. So far I use the same star rating as on my blog but each time it bothers me.

The question I have today is, do you change your ratings when posting on Amazon?

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

I love that movie. The Gopher is all around awesome.

  3. Here Here for the Gopher and of course Bill Murray. I love the scene where he playing golf with the flowers. LOL I grabbed so many freebies last week, that I just skimmed over your new ones and…Awesome win!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The Cinderella story! LOL I wanted to use a video that included it but it wasn’t very good. Too much buffering.
I picked a couple freebies that made me think of you. Are you SURE you don’t want to look again?LOL

  4. Jenna @ Rather Be Reading YA says:

I use my own ratings on every site where I post my reviews. (I use half stars and round down when I have to.) Not my problem if theirs is different. I don’t have time or care enough to figure out other sites’ systems.

Book of the Dead looks interesting, and I like the cover of Night Carnival. You won some great swag!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I use the same rating everywhere but Amazon changed the descriptions for their star ratings and they don’t always reflect my feeling accurately. I figure everyone goes more by the stars than the descriptions:)

  5. alisbooks says:

I’ve always loved Caddyshack! I fell in love with the gopher when I was little. You picked up tons of goodies this week! Enjoy!

  6. katarguelles says:

I’ve always loved Caddyshack and the gopher!! That was a great movie and I will be really mad if they try to remake it. I wish they would leave the great 80’s movies alone!

I did notice Amazon’s changes for their ratings but I still leave a review based on my rating system. It gets too confusing to change for each site.

You have a great haul this week again. Have fun reading all your new books and have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

That gopher is clever but it couldn’t have been to hard to fool Murray. LOL
It just bothers me that Amazon changed their descriptions. I still use the same rating as on my blog but it bothers me sometimes.

  7. Yes, I give higher reviews on both Amazon and Goodreads more because of people who post one and two stars on great books, than what their rating descriptions are. I really loathe when I see reviews that say they gave a book two stars because the book was Science Fiction and they don’t like that genre, or they couldn’t stand the MC’s name. Ugh. I feel it kind of off sets the the crazy reviews. On Goodreads I always lead my mini-review with what my blog star rating is, if it is different. I almost never give five stars on my blog. Have a fab week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I do get taken aback because someone rates a book because they didn’t like the genre. Always makes me wonder why they read the book?

  8. Enjoy that haul! Thanks for sharing…and as for my review ratings, I use the same on my blog, on Amazon, and on Goodreads.

Love that book bag! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • fuonlyknew says:

I got some good ones! I stick to the same star rating everywhere. But on Amazon, their description for let’s say a 4 star rating, doesn’t fit with mine. I figure it’s best to go the same all over.

  9. Lola says:

I never change my rating when I cross-post my review on amazon and to be honest I do’t know what amazon their descriptions are for eahc star as I never pay attention to it. I think it’s too much effort to correct it and hwen I give a book a 4 star rating that means my 4 star definition. And beside that my review stays the same and tells the reader more then the actual rating. But yeah it’s a issue worth considering.

Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I agree Lola. And it sounds like most people go by the stars rather than by what Amazon’s meaning for them is.

  10. Greg says:

You have a lot of fun looking books, some edgy ones and some fun ones too. Caddyshack was a trip! And love that song by Kenny Loggins.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yep. I’m all over the place in genres. I always am. I don’t want to miss anything!LOL
I’ve listened to that song a few times too! Now I have to watch the movie, AGAIN.

  11. Berls says:

Interesting question about the review ratings for Amazon- I don’t change mine because then what would the five stars be? I do wish they had half ratings, I always add a line saying “actual rating is 3.5 stars” or whatever. I really struggle deciding whether or not to round up or down! I’m so inconsistent with that!

Have a great week! Enjoy your haul 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve pondered using the half star ratings. I do it in my head and then round up or down accordingly. It’s easier to just not use them when posting though.

  12. Iza Bzh says:

Honestly, I’ve never paid attention to Amazon’s special rating system (I didn’t even know they had one), I rate books the same way I rate them on my blog. Enjoy your book haul and have a great week 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

If you hover on a star it will give you their description for it. I stick to the same everywhere I post but it bugs me sometimes.

  13. bluekaren says:

I don’t change my rating for goodreads or amazon. My reviews on my site pretty much mean the same thing. 3 stars=maybe, 4 stars=i like it, 5 stars=i love it.
You got a great haul this week! Ask the Dark is something I have heard creating a buzz. I hope you like it. Book of the Dead looks really good too. Enjoy your week!

  14. The only one of these I’ve heard of is Ask the Dark and I thought about requesting that one… Have you started it yet? Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  15. Naomi Hop says:

I hope you enjoy all your reads. A lot of them are new to me.
    Have a great week!

Thanx for visiting My Weekly Wrap-Up!
    Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace

  16. Ha Caddshack!!! I haven’t seen that in years. Funny movie. 🙂
No I don’t change my rating even if the two don’t coincide what they mean. I just keep my rating consistent across all the sites I post on.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a great week. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I loved the movie and can’t ever watch it enough.
Most people who’ve commented are the same. Stick to their rating. I do it to be consistent also.

  17. I don’t use stars on my blog, but when I do Goodreads or Amazon I use their system. My post: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2015/02/snowday.html

  18. Fantastic haul! Enjoy all your goodies!

  19. I hate that the Amazon stars are so off…I think it really depends on what my overall feeling is for the book. Sometimes the stars are matches and other times i have to rate up. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. It’s like they are saying 4 stars is an okay read. I think most people ignore their descriptions and stick with the same rating anyway. I do, but it bugs me sometimes.

  20. Bruna Acioly says:

Ooh nice about all the free books (so many books, so little time, right?) I wasn’t aware of the Amazon thing. When I do cross post reviews there I always use the same as on my blog – I guess I just wasn’t paying attention. I’ll certainly look out and see it it matches next time I review there.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. So many new ones to read:)
Yeah, they changed their definition for what the stars mean and it doesn’t work for me, but I stick to the same rating everywhere.

  21. Great haul. I love all your swag thanks for stopping by my blog have a great week 🙂

  22. yvonne473 says:

I don’t think I heard of Jonnie Jacobs before. Those books all look so good. Enjoy!

  23. Tammy says:

Wow, so much news from you this week! I also just got a copy of Vostok, I think I’m on the blog tour. Hope you enjoy everything!

  24. Lots of fun additions this week. I love your little dancing guy towards the top. 🙂 The Amazon thing kind of bugs me too. I keep my ratings the same, but it’s kind of annoying. Thanks for stopping by!

  25. Dreams says:

Another slew of books I haven’t heard of but look interesting. You are going to kill my TBR. 🙂 Love the swag package, looks like you got some new stuff.

  26. That is some seriously awesome book swag! That must have been a happy mail day! I read Valentine’s Day is Murder a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. Hope you do too! You’ve got some interesting looking books this week – especially the cozies!
