Some chit chat.

It’s kind of a dog day afternoon. Mostly cloudy and breezy and lots of looming rain clouds. Even my dog, Quigley, and my cat, Sheba, know when it’s a day to chill. To do what they love best. Sheba is so funny. Quig will be all stretched out and there will be just a tiny space on the sofa. She’ll eye it and meow. Then she’ll jump up and turn round and round looking for room to lie down. Quig will lift his head, softly rumble, and she’ll settle down. They are such a pair.

I’ve been reading a bunch of books and felt like I needed a break. So I’ve spent a lot of time going through Netflix, watching some obscure and low rated movies. I was surprised to find a few that were pretty good. And a bunch that were god awful bad. LOL  And guess what? Now I”m kind of burnt out on watching television. So what am I doing now? Well, I’ve been working crosswords, playing some video games, and I actually started playing solitaire with an actual deck of cards. Plus I’ve pulled out a few crafting projects that needed to be finished.

I think it’s time to get out of the house and do something fun. So what do you do when you can’t focus on one thing?

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

I was contacted by the publisher about reading The Anatomy Of Melancholy. I was intrigued by the cover and had to check it out.

I just couldn’t resist Kittens Can Kill. Just look at it! LOL

And Drop Dead Punk sounds just twisted enough for me.

New ones just because.

After buying my new Paperwhite last week I tried to resist buying some new books. I did pick up a freebie that looked fun.

Got any recommendations?

I’d love to know and thanks so much for visiting fuonlyknew.

  1. That’s so funny about your pets. My dog is terrified of the cat. I’m not sure what she’d do if the cat actually snuggled up with her like that. I hate when I get burned out on both TV and books! Those are my two vices so I feel a little lost. Great books as always. I’m curious about the Julie Smith. That’s a name I’m familiar with but I’m not sure if I’ve ever read any of her books. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

They are a pair. Sheba will wind all around him and get right in his face. He’ll growl at her and she’ll just ingnore him.

  2. Greg says:

Nice that the dog and cat enjoy each other company. Cute pic. Netflix can be dangerous because it’s so easy to click on something, or start binging. I have to stay away or I lose track of time. 🙂

The Lost Continent looks fun, love the premise of that.

    • fuonlyknew says:

They are a pair:) I get into Netflix and it’s like a black hole. LOL There are some good ones I stumble on now and then that I’ve never heard of though. I had to grab The Lost Continent. The cover hooked me first!

  3. Love how your fur kids get along. Mine sleep all over us and each other.

  4. Red Iza says:

Quigley and Sheba look quite comfy with each other 🙂 When I’m burned out with books or else, I usually embroid – but since being burned out means I’m tired and making mistakes, it’s not really a good idea ! Have a great week-end !

    • fuonlyknew says:

A couple of snuggle buddies:) That’s the problem I had. I couldn’t focus. But back to normal now!

  5. Book Splurge says:

I like the same books as you. You are so fortunate that your pets get along. I would love to add another Maltese to our family but my maltese Leyla is a bit spoiled…. Have a great week and thank you again for being a tour host:)

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah! Now we can share back and forth. I wasn’t sure they’d get along. Sheba came to me when my sister passed away and Quigley had never been around cats. They worked it out between themselves and now are fast friends:)

  6. Aaaw, sweet story about your animals. :

Another great book haul. Kittens Can Kill does look cute but I’m trying to resist.I’m already drowning in books.:D

    Have a good week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

They are too funny. I couldn’t resist Kittens Can Kill. Kind of a cozy mystery and the cover is so sweet.

  7. Elizabeth says:

I’m so impressed that you did 4 book reviews this week! Thanks for visiting me today.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks Elizabeth. I try to do three or four and sometimes more each week. If I don’t I never get to them and some I’ve had for a while. LOL

  8. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) says:

lol. Look at the dog and cat. That is adorable. Oh! One of my dogs name is Sheba. 😀

Do hope you have a great week and love all your reads. 🙂

  9. Haha I see what you mean about hopping around between all the projects! I binge watch Netflix for a few days and then don’t look at it for months. And I love crafting too but am SO bad at finishing the projects!

  10. When I am burnt out on reading a Netflix break always helps. Congrats on all the winnings you had! Have a great week!

  11. Man you got a great haul! 🙂

  12. Lola says:

Aww your dog and cat sounds like a great pair! That picture is adorable! Watching movies is a good idea when you need a break from reading.
I hope you’ll enjoy your new books and yay for winning giveaways!

  13. Deborah says:

I completely get what you’re saying about needing a break. I’ve started having a night or two off reading each week. Some forced (cos I have stuff on or because I need to catch up on my reviewing) but sometimes I worry I read so much I don’t appreciate what I’m reading. When the books start to blur in my mind I know I’m in trouble!

    • fuonlyknew says:

That’s what happened to me. I was writing a review and had the wrong book title! I’m more focused now and reading for fun some of the time. It’s nice to read and not always be thinking about the review.

  14. Kittens can Kill..LOL Quigley, and Sheba have the right idea. I am getting ready to put my pajamas on a read, despite having 3 reviews to write..LOL

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know:) I couldn’t resist the title or the cover. LOL And now you sound like me. I sometimes put off the review until the last minute. What’s funny is those are sometimes the best reviews!

  15. katarguelles says:

Pets are crazy! I’ve been feeling burned out too so I take break and watch TV or play a game. I got hooked into Candy Crush again but got frustrated when I couldn’t beat a level. But it was a nice break and now I’m selecting books from my TBR that really grab my attention.

You got a great haul again and are so lucky with the giveaways!! I hope you enjoy all the new books and have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

They sure are! I got out some old play station games and played them. I found out quick I was out of practice. Felt like throwing the contoller. LOL

  16. Nyze says:

Joshua and the Lightning Road sounds a lot like Percy Jackson. Don’t you think? 🙂

    WeeklyWrap@EverythingNyze

  17. Yup, we have so many fun things we can be doing at home but even that can wear thin sometimes! Did you find anything good on Netflix? I miss playing video games, I haven’t played in the past few weeks. Have a lovely week ahead Laura!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I found a couple I liked. Bobbadook was really creepy and The Phases was kind of different. A blind war veteran has to fight off some werewolves.

  18. yvonne473 says:

Love the picture of your cat and dog.

That happens to me where I’ll get burnt out on doing any one thing. For me it’s watching TV, reading, and playing addictive games on Facebook. LOL

    Have a great week!

  19. Cute pets! Hope you enjoy your books and have a great week

  20. Love the picture of the cat and dog napping together! I’ve switched it up and have been reading in the early morning vs afternoon and evening lately. But by doing that, I’ve gotten hooked on a couple of shows on Netflix. Oh well. Have a great week.

  21. Elisabeth says:

Freebies–because my soaring TBR pile has just begun to defy structural integrity.

  22. Naomi Hop says:

I understand the need for a break, i think we all need it at times, I’ve been watching movies!
Enjoy your huge haul of books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve watched so many movies. I usually do anyway, but I looked for obscure ones I’d never heard of. Found a few that kept me entertained.

  23. atothewr says:

When I can’t focus, I usually grab some music and go for a walk/run (weather permitting). Sometimes I just stop the routine and grab a puzzle. My two year old also helps a lot to keep me focused. Have to stay sharp for him.

Cute pic of your pets. Nice they get along so well.

  24. Congrats on the win!!!!!

Your cat and dog are so cute. My ones that we had in Mums didn’t really get along….basically the cat was in charge and if he was sleeping on the sofa the dog would have to sleep on the floor. The cat also took the dogs bed, forcing his to squeeze himself into the cat bed.

You have some interesting books this week, enjoy them all 🙂
