Some chit chat.

I love Sunday mornings.

It’s the one morning I don’t get up at the crack of dawn. Instead, I lie in bed with a good book for an hour or so. Then, I get up, put on the kettle, and while waiting for it to whistle at me, I gather my things and take them to my little outside office. Here’s a picture I shared previously.

Saturday, I did a lot of yard work. Had to remove branches that grew so quickly you couldn’t tell I’d cut them back once before.

I also washed down my deck and emptied any containers that had filled with water from the rain we got earlier. No mosquito’s laying eggs there!

So this morning, I plan on reading and relaxing, taking periodic dips in the pool to cool down some. That brings up another topic.

As summer is in full swing and the temps average in the mid to high 90s, the water warms up quick and stays that way. I’ve had water temps of almost 94 this week. The recent rainfall brought it down to just under 91 but as today promises to be blistering hot, that will rise again.

My favorite time to swim is around 6:00 in the afternoon. An afternoon breeze from the Gulf blows through, chilling exposed skin, causing me to duck down into the warm water. I feel like a tea bag in the warmth. My legs are so heavy when I use the ladder to get out. LOL

It feels like time for one of those dips now as the day is warming up, so I’m off to cool down a bit. Have a lovely Sunday!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

I love your freebies tip! thanks for sharing 🙂 Enjoy your books especially today relaxing in the yard! I hope you visit my Sunday Post: http://www.danielaark.com/what-a-week-17-my-sliders-my-weakness/

  3. That swimming sounds wonderful! I live in Central Texas, and it has definitely been hot this week. Unfortunately, I don’t have a pool, but I know exactly what you’re saying. A few years ago I would swim every day after coming home from work. It was the perfect time to swim. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Howdy neighbor! I still do swim after work everyday, when it’s not having a weather fit of afternoon thunderstorms. LOL I wok outside all day and love that plunge into liquid coolness!

  4. I love your outdoor office! What a peaceful looking spot. The pool water here is in the high 80s which I actually like. I can see mid-90s being a bit of a problem though. Sounds like you have a lovely Sunday ahead of you! Have a great week!

  5. Ah, the joy of being in a pool on a warm day. 🙂 Have a great week. Hope it cools down for you soon.

It will only get hotter here as August approaches, but even the warm water gives blessed relief:)

  6. Kathy says:

I love your backyard! It gets really hot where we live so we don’t get to enjoy using the backyard a lot. I grabbed some of the freebies, thanks for sharing these! Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love it too. My little office is in the shade all day and I get a nice breeze off of the Gulf to keep the humidity away.

  7. Oh you did it to me again, had some really good freebies here I couldn’t resist..lol. Hope you enjoy all your books. I so want a little outside office like you have, building a patio is on my want list..lol. 🙂

  8. Heidi says:

I remember those hot sunny afternoons in the pool when I lived in PHX, it felt more like a hot tub than a swimming pool. Enjoy it while it lasts, winter will be here before long. We have had nice cool temps this week in Oregon, but we are supposed to heat up again. Love all the witchy books you got.

  9. Lola says:

Your outside office looks so pretty and relaxing! I often sleep as long as I want every day, but weekends still feel more special and relaxed even though I still have work to do. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

  10. Naomi Hop says:

Sounds like a pretty productive week! I can’t wit for the warmer weather, so I can go outside to read!
    Enjoy your new books…

The number of posts I’m doing has dropped over the summer but the number of reviews has doubled. Yikes!

  11. Tammy says:

Darkness with a Chance of Whimsy looks like fun! And I loved your description of your lazy Sunday…so jealous you have a pool!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I couldn’t resist Darkness. It does sound fun. I wouldn’t even step outdoors if I didn’t have a pool. So worth the work it takes to keep it up!

  12. Deborah says:

Oh yes, I love your outdoor office… And swimming sounds just heavenly. It’s winter here in Australia but still mid 20s degrees celsius where I live but still a bit too cold to swim!

  13. yvonne473 says:

Love the picture of your outside office. It looks so peaceful. I have many of the same freebies, too. Enjoy and have a great week!

  14. Oh sounds like you deserve some relaxation on Sunday! 😀 Lots of great new books as well. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

By Friday I’m so ready for the end of the work week! Now, if the weeds would quit growing so I don’t have to do yard work. LOL

  15. atothewr says:

Thanks for the nod. I love your outdoor office. Looks like a great place to not only read, but to write as well. Have a great week.

  16. Your pool sounds wonderful, Laura. So nice to have in a hot climate. And I love your outdoor office. Have a great week and fun reading and swimming!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love heat but not without a pool to chill in. LOL The breeze from the Gulf makes it cool enough to enjoy the outdoors and I’m always in a hurry to get out there:)

  17. Your outdoor office sounds (and looks) wonderful. It is so cold here in Scotland just now, you would never believe it was Summer!

    Have a good week!

  18. All right. You just had to make me pick up a few more. LOL Mr Wonderful and I were talking about our pools. Our stays about 88. I think the difference is between above and below ground. Either way, I am loving this weather!

  19. shannonmiz says:

Water temps of 94?!?! That isn’t swimming, that is a bath! My parents’ pool was 86 today and that felt VERY warm, so I cannot even imagine! Hope you enjoy the new books, and are able to cool off a bit! I love your outside office, too 🙂

  20. For cooling down, a pool that hot won’t really help much, but for swimming, I bet it’s pretty neat! We don’t have a pool, but we have a jaccuzzi, and we keep it at body temperature all year around. In the hot summer, it’s actually nice, too, because when we get out of the water, the air feels a little cooler than it did before we went in.
You got a lot of great-looking books this week, Laura. I hope you’ll enjoy them all!
Have a fantastic week and happy reading.
