Some chit chat.

Not much new happened this week. The weather is wacky. Hot then cold, then freezing. LOL

For all of those who are going through the blizzard, I hope you are safe and warm at home. Take care!

It got pretty darn cold here. The wind blew like crazy and took your breath away when you faced it. My dog, Quigley, and my cat, Sheba, have the right idea on days like that. LOL

I cover my sofa with a flannel sheet to keep the pet hair off, and they love it.

I did finally buy a copy of The Martian. Have you seen it yet? I loved every bit of it. As good as the book! Bravo, Andy Weir!

I mentioned at the end of last year that I would be slowing things down on my blog and taking in less review books. I’ve been doing that, and it is so nice to not have the pressure of deadlines.

I am still taking in books for review, just not as many. And I’ve been going at my TBR like crazy. I have a bunch of books read that have been on my pile for too long, and even have reviews ready for them. Can’t wait to post to Goodreads and see those books moved to the read shelf.

Now to stop adding too many new ones. LOL

Got lots of books to share, so let’s get to it!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

  1. Greg Hill says:

Yeah the dog and cat have the right idea, definitely. It’s been cold here too, but at least the snow stopped.

I like the looks of some of your books- some nice scary looking ones, a mystery or two. I’ll have to check a few of those out.

Have a good week and stay warm!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, what a life they have. LOL It didn’t snow but sure got cold here. Looking pretty today. I didn’t find many cozies this week, but lots of scary ones and some good thrillers and mysteries.

  2. Oh my goodness, Laura, that’s a LOT of books once more! I hope you’ll enjoy them all. And you’re right to slow down – it’s not good if blogging feels like a chore.
It’s quite cold here, too, but the snow has melted, and the sun is actually shining today, which is a very nice change.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m slowing down on some things, but reading sure isn’t one of them! LOL I only grabbed two freebies and took in a couple of requests. The rest were books I won or bought. I try hard not to grab those freebies I share. It’s supposed to start warming up Monday, but then will come rain.

  3. Red Iza says:

Eyeshine looks good ! You’re right to slow down when blogging begins to be too much pressure. I loved the book The Martian, but I still have to watch the movie (because the book was soooo goooood, I’m stalling). Enjoy your week-end !

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love the cover for Eyeshine. That’s one I took in for review. Couldn’t resist the blurb and cover. LOL I loved The martian book and the movie blew me away!

  4. Emma says:

    Your pets look so cosy.
    Whispered Screams looks frightening.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah. They got it made, don’t they. LOL Whispered Screams isn’t a long read and I hope to start it this coming week. In the mood for scary:)

  5. Your pets look so comfy! They’re making me want to curl up on the sofa! Have a good week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

They fight to be next to me when I’m sitting on the sofa. And they race to steal my spot when I get up. LOL

  6. You got some great looking books. It got cold here but not to bad, not like those up north. I am fine without snow….lol.

    Happy reading,
    Stormi

    Week in Review

    • fuonlyknew says:

I sure did! I’ve already read some of them. And stayed up late last night starting another. Can’t resist my new reads:) I don’t miss snow except at Christmas. After that it’s, “When will spring get here?!” LOL

  7. It doesn’t look like you’re slowing down there, girlie πŸ™‚ So many interesting looking books though!! I’m sure it’ll make a huge difference when you don’t take as many review books!!!

I can’t believe you pets lay together. So flippin’ cute!!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know! LOL Some of the books I forgot to share last week. It’s fun to read without taking notes or highlighting but I will eventually review them even though they aren’t requests. It’s in my blood now. LOL

  8. Dagny says:

I haven’t seen the movie of The Martian yet. Glad to hear it’s as good as the book – which was one of my favorite reads for 2015.

  9. I’m not loving the colder temperatures at all! And I know I have nothing to complain about since so many people have feet of snow. I’m trying to cut down on the review books I take in as well though it’s hard to resist all the new shiny books! I do want to get some of my older books read before they take over. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. I don’t have snow either. My body is southern and just hates the cold. LOL I’m getting to books from a couple 2 to 3 years ago. Hard to continue a series when you haven’t read the first book.

  10. katarguelles says:

I love that picture of your pets! I also keep a flannel blanket on our couch and our dog loves it. I’ve been going at a slower pace on my blog too and it feels good to not have to deal with any pressure. You got a lot of good books and I’m going to check out some of these freebies. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

They love that flannel blanket. LOL I also have some fluffy pillows I throw on the floor for them. Sheba likes me to move hers around on the tile floor, following the sun when it shines through the glass doors.

  11. Heidi says:

Everyone is talking about the snow. We here on the West Coast are just dealing with rain. You all stay safe and warm. I loved the audiobook of the Martian, and I watched the movie last weekend. The movie was really good, but not as good as the book. Have a wonderful week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

You guys sure have had a ton of rain. The weather has been so extreme for everyone this year. Ooh, I never thought of the audio book. Must do that too!

  12. samantha1020 says:

I grabbed Linger for my kindle this week as well. I really shouldn’t have as I already have too many books on there but I liked the sound of it. It looks like you have lots of great reading ahead of you. Enjoy!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Linger sounds thrilling. I couldn’t resist. Looks like there are a few more books in the series already out. No waiting:)

  13. Is it physically possible to stop adding books to the TBR? lol I still need to read The Martian. My daughter’s boyfriend has the movie and said we could watch it, but I haven’t done that yet either. I’ll get around to one or other or both someday. πŸ˜€

  14. Angelized1st says:

I loved both the book and the film version of The Martian. They did a really good job adapting the novel I thought. When I first saw it, I saw it in 3D at the theater. I bought it when it came out on DVD, and it’s still just as good.

  15. What a hunking stack of books! The man bought the film The Martian for us to watch sometime, so I’ll get a glimmer of what everyone has been raving about. It got pretty cold here, too. I had that heated mattress pad on every night!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I watched The martian twice in one night. LOL I loved it. My son and I turned out the lights, cranked up the volume, and had theatre popcorn.

  16. It is always nice to make a dent in the TBR shelf, pile, mountain! Glad you are doing what makes you less stressed out! Have a great week of reading. I hope to watch The Martian soon.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Mountain! That’s what it is. LOL I am seeing a tiny decrease. Now I need to keep the avalanche rolling down.

  17. Literary Feline says:

I do envy our animals sometimes. πŸ™‚ I hope you are managing to stay warm! I hope you enjoy your new books. So many great sounding titles! Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. They have it made. LOL Been super cold but it’s going to warm up nicely this week. Might even get outside to do some reading.

  18. Kelan says:

Hello, my friend! It’s been too long since I’ve commented here but believe me, I read your posts. We watched The Martian just last night and agree, it was WELL done. Loved seeing the fur kids in a toasty warm cuddle puddle on the sofa. Hope you are well. Keep up the great work, even if you have to slow it down a bit. I have always been in AWE of how much you read and review. You are an inspiration. – Kel

    • fuonlyknew says:

Hi Kelan!! So nice to hear from you. I was talking to Sherry the other day about what you might be up to. Hope all is well with you:)

  19. Deborah says:

Glad you’re putting less pressure on yourself re blogging. I’m trying to do the same as I don’t want it to become a chore.

Glad you’ve survived the bizarre weather!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It feels strange sometimes. I go over to my blog and I’m all caught up! LOL Now what? I am doing other things that I couldn’t before and it’s nice to relax.

  20. I grabbed Crossroads too. We missed the crazy weather, but we had ours a couple weeks back on the west coast. Love the animal pics and your book additions. I need to still see The Martian. I’m glad you loved it. Hope things go well with slowing down. Thanks for stopping by!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve been seeing Crossroads all over the place, so I got curious:) Going to be nice most of this week, with a little rain, of course:) I did love The Martian, book and movie:)

  21. Christy LoveOfBooks says:

They definitely have the right idea to cuddle up on the couch. Taking on less blog stress is always nice, hope you keep making a dent in the books.

  22. atothewr says:

The Martian was a really good movie. Need to read the book now. Rattlesnake was also a great short story. Be interesting seeing your review on it.

    • fuonlyknew says:

You do need to read the book. There were many scenes they didn’t have room for in the movie that were great. Rattlesnake is the perfect title for that story.

  23. Yvonne says:

I still haven’t seen The Martian, but I want to. It looks great. I had to crack down on the blog like you did. I’m accepting less reviews and trying to ease the deadline pressures. It does help alot.

Hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I hope you do get a chance to watch it. Such a great movie. And I am enjoying less stress now. Got enough without my blog starting to feel like a second job. LOL

  24. Heheh Sheba and Quigley look so warm! I was cuddling with the pups this weekend too πŸ™‚ I really enjoyed Wally the Warm Weather Penguin πŸ˜€ Hope you enjoy your new books <3

    • fuonlyknew says:

They are a couple of snuggle buddies. They also use each other as pillows. LOL Wally was a cute book. The pictures were sweet and the facts were fun.

  25. Lola says:

I am sorry to hear it’s so cold there, here the weather was a bit chilly, but it seems this week it’s getting warmer again. Your dog and cat sure seem to have the right idea to cuddle like that on cold days. I can’t stop adding new books to my to-read list either, there are just too many awesome books out there. I haven’t read or watched The Martian, but heard great things about it. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books!

  26. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) says:

Wow. Lots of new books. Hope you enjoy them all when you get to them. And hope you are warming up some. I know we are and the snow is almost melted away now. Crazy weather this year!

    Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I didn’t grab all of the freebies. I like to browse around and find some for everybody. We’ve had some 70s but chilly weather is on the way again.

  27. Naomi Hop says:

No blizzard here in Aus! It’s summer! And not too hot at the moment!
Another awesome haul. i like the cover of The Living Night.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Lucky you. I hear the groundhog didn’t see his shadow today so we are supposed to have a mild winter and early spring!
