Hello everyone and Happy Sunday!

raining cats and dogs photo: RAINING CATS AND DOGS Rainingcatsanddogs.gif

I was missing in action for a few days this week. Went out of town to have some fun with the family. With all of the rain this week, it was good to do something besides stare out window, hoping for a peek at the sun. The sun was a no-show, but the rain sure made itself known.

We’ve had a low pressure system sitting on the Gulf Coast all week. Rain and more rain. Now and then I like a few rainy days. Maybe not this many though. LOL I did get a lot of reading in. And watched some movies I’d had waiting in my Que.

How about you? Do you enjoy rainy days? What do you do when you can’t go outside and play?

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link.

New books on my shelf. Some I won, some are for review, and some I just had to have.

Only two this week! One thing good about being busy over the summer. I don’t spend quite as much money at the book store. LOL

So, what did you get to read this week?

Got any recommendations?

I’d love to know and thanks so much for visiting fuonlyknew.

Comments
  1. Greg says:

We had some rain here too, heavy yesterday. Nice storm. But it’s been mostly hot and muggy. I would have got more reading done if not for the Olympics. 🙂

True of Blood looks interesting, love that cover. And Murdered by Country Music looks fun- when I was younger I might have thought country music would literally kill me lol, but I deal with it better now. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I loathed country music when I was young. Now I enjoy a lot of it. I actually saw the sun today. Not for long but hoping it’s on the way back so I can enjoy some swimming:)

  2. I love a rainy day every now and then, but not if it is raining for days on end. It makes me sleepy to hear the water dripping, and then I just don’t want to do anything at all – just stay in my bed (singing Bruno Mars in my head now…)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, I have been taking some naps recently. LOL I used to love it when it rained while I was camping. The sound of the raindrops on the tent was soothing:)

  3. Literary Feline says:

I love rainy days, but we get so few where I live. 🙁 I caught some of the images from Louisiana and the flooding there. Just terrible. I am glad you were able to enjoy time with your family, despite the rain. Both of your new books look really good, Laura!

I’m reading and enjoying a historical novel at the moment called The Whiskey Sea. I hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s been torrential rains here but no flooding in my area. I’ve seen The Whiskey Sea around and it does sound good. Hope you enjoy it.

  4. I’ve always liked rainy days, except when I have outdoor plans or have to do grocery shopping. That’s great that you got to have some fun with your family though, despite the rain!

Zombies vs Dinosaurs. That sounds interesting lol. I’m a little curious to know who won.

    Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

We spent most of our time in the casinos so never even noticed the rain. Too bad it didn’t rain money. LOL
Can’t tell ya who won. It was a fun one though.

  5. We get so many rainy days that we just act like they aren’t happening and carry on as normal. Just wetter! 😀
I do love reading while rain is pelting against the window though. It feels really snug.

  6. Oh gosh I have seen the flooding in Louisiana and its nuts!! Y’all have gotten non stop rain! Its suppose to start here today. They are saying rain every day for the next 5-6 days. I love rain though (but, since I live on a higher area flooding isn’t really a concern!).
Enjoy your books and stay dry! Hopefully you get some sun this week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

We didn’t get flooded in my area. Just needed to be careful while driving. I did see the sun peeking through today, but now the winds are picking up and the clouds look ominous again. Time to grab a book. LOL

  7. I live about 3 hours East of Greg so we got storms and heat all week, too but we could use some real rain. Sorry you’re getting it all 🙁

Voodoo Child looks like a pretty good UF! I weirdly don’t usually read male UF writers and I have no clue why I shy away from them. I’ll have to watch and see what you think of that one 😉

Hope you watch less movies this coming week 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

We expect rain here every day as it’s a tropical climate, but this is so unusual. It’s like a tropical storm the way it sits here and spins around. At least it’s not a hurricane. “Knock on wood!”
I’m getting ready to read Voodoo Child. That cover grabbed me first. LOL

  8. sjhigbee says:

So sorry you’re smitten by so much rain:(. I get very sick of it, particularly during the summer – fortunately AT LONG LAST, we’re having a warm, sunny spell. I hope your rain abates soon! In the meantime, at least you have books to tuck into! Looking forward to reading your review of The Hatching – it’s something of a spider theme is coming week:)). Have great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, some rain is okay. It;s expected. But this is getting old. Sun is trying to come out so perhaps it’s finally moving away.
Watch out for those spiders! LOL

  9. Where I live it’s always raining. At least the city I live in because there are places that barely sees rain, but where I live, every single day after 1 PM it rains. We expect it haha It’s good that you were able to see your family 🙂 I want to read The Hatching so badly! Enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

We expect the afternoon thunderstorms because of the build of heat from the Gulf. This is strange. But it will pass eventually. In the meantime, I’ll be reading:)

  10. It rained a bit here and I enjoyed it, but it made it pretty muggy. I don’t mind a bit of rain but continuous days of rain drives me a bit crazy.

Can’t wait to see your review of The Hatching! Oh and that other spider book. 🙂

You are filling up my kindle with those free mystery books…stop it! 🙂 I need to read some of the ones I got…lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!
    Stormi
    Week in Review

    • fuonlyknew says:

My fingers are crossed that this will pass soon. I miss the sun and the pool! Got ya again on those freebies. LOL And watch out for those spiders!

  11. Lucky you to have rain! I love wet weather, but we won’t get our first rains until October, so we have a ways to go. I think I will check out Death By Cake (who wouldn’t be tempted by the cover, alone!). Thanks for pointing the way to all these free books,

    • fuonlyknew says:

This is hurricane season here so I guess I should be glad this is just a low pressure system that stalled. Crossing my fingers we won’t see a hurricane this year!
I loved that cover too. Cozies always have such fun ones, don’t they!

  12. Angelized1st says:

There has been no rain in sight in Los Angeles. Just fires. Hopefully we’ll get some this winter. Glad you had a great time with your family. It’s nice to take a break every once in a while.

  13. We are still desperately in need of some rain. Winter is coming to a close, but still no rain. Big concern here in SA. I’ve tried to click on your link for Lady of the Lake, but it doesn’t seem to work. Will have to look again. Wishing you a great week and happy reading! Here’s my link: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/08/the-sunday-post-you-have-no-idea.html

    • fuonlyknew says:

I hope you get some rain soon. It finally stopped here. Sorry about the link. Fixed it but it’s no longer free.

  14. We didn’t have any rain until today. It’s been on and off, which definitely puts our park walk tonight out of the question. We should have rain most of this week, which will be nice with that 116 degree heat index we had just the other day. When it rains, I do enjoy curling up with a good book or with Baby and watching favorite movies. Happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, we had thetriple digit heat index too. Cooled down with the rain, but now that it has cleared up, it’s a steamy mess again. LOL

  15. katarguelles says:

It sounds like you had a nice break. I wish you can send your rain to California, it was another hot week. I love reading or watching a movie when it rains. But rainy days do make me feel lazy so none of the chores get done lol. I hope you get a break from the rain and have a nice week!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

You’d think we’d get caught up on housework since we can’t go out and play. But, not for me either. LOL

  16. Boo to the rain but at least you got out with the family. We have had very hot humid weather with some storms but still not enough rain. Hope you have a great week and happy reading !

  17. I liked getting away from the heat here, week before this last one…and I feel energized. Enjoy your new books, which all look tempting. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  18. It has just been hot and humid here. Yucky. We did have a blinger of a thunderstorm though with 111 lightening strikes in one hour. I was freaking out because Sebastian was walking home from work in it. I told him to stay at work until it blew over, but he can be a hard headed little s#!t. Ha ha. I saw where there has been a lot of flooding. I am glad you were spared that. I will be on the lookout for your The Hatching review. I am still not sold on it, so maybe your thoughts on it will be the tipping point for me. Have a terrific week. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

Glad he made it home okay. I refuse to even go near a door when it’s lightning out. I’ve been so close to a strike that all of my hair stood on end and I heard it sizzling. The Hatching was creepy and fun. I do love my horror.

  19. We have had more than enough rain lately as well, more is expected this week. I do like rain while I am trying to fall asleep. Gotta get to Blue Moon. Have a great week.

  20. Ooh zombies v dinosaurs! Two of my very favourite things! I might need to check this out! Have a great reading week and thanks for visiting!

  21. yvonne473 says:

We haven’t had any rain, just heat and more heat. I’d love some rain to cool things off a bit.

Those covers all look so good. Some I have and some I’m adding to my wishlist. Have a great week!

  22. It sounds like you had a good time with your family! We’ve been having a lot of stormy days in Florida lately too, and we’ll be having more this week. Enjoy your new books 😀

    Here’s my Weekly Recap!

  23. atothewr says:

We can’t get rain her in N.C. The same thing causing our lack of rain is causing your abundance of rain. Crazy summer this year. If I have the time I prefer to read or watch some TV during rainy days. They can also be good days for writing as well.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It has been an unusually wet summer here. I’m ready for some dry days so I can get outside and enjoy the pool:)

  24. Lola says:

I hope you had fun during your out of town trip with your family! At least you got a lot of reading done with all that rain ;). I always enjoy seeing all those freebies you list and how you always find different ones than I do. Will check some of them out. Have a great week with hopefully less rain!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Lola. We did have fun. We always do, even if we’re just sitting around at home. It is fun to see each other freebies. LOL

  25. Damn, I thought I visited you on Sunday. 🙁 Me bad!
