Welcome to The Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice.
This is a really fun meme!
The only rules are to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader and find a sentence or a few (no spoilers) that grabs you and post it.
Then go over to Freda’s Voice and leave your link so we can visit your 56!
My 56 for this week is from:
Curse Of The Boggin
The Library #1
by D. J. MacHale
Genre: Children’s Horror / Paranormal / Fantasy
I couldn’t find anything good to share on page 56, so I’m sharing something from pages 5 and 6 in the hardcover .
Page 5
His hand slowly dropped lower, growing closer to the mysterious message. As his fingertips were about to touch the odd markings, an ominous growl came from under the bed.
Page 6
…the blanket came to life. It flew across the floor to the center of the room, stopped suddenly, and fell to the floor, revealing the culprit.

Synopsis
Enter the Library, where no one knows how the stories end . . . and finding out will be terrifying.
There’s a place beyond this world, beyond the land of the living, where ghosts go to write their unfinished stories—stories that ended too soon. It’s a place for unexplained phenomena: mysteries that have never been solved, spirits that have never been laid to rest. And there’s only one way in or out.
It’s called the Library, and you can get there with a special key. But beware! Don’t start a story you can’t finish. Because in this library, the stories you can’t finish just might finish you.
Marcus O’Mara is a 13 year old guy at a crossroads. He constantly finds himself in trouble at school, with his friends, and with his adoptive parents. Marcus doesn’t believe things can get any worse for him…until they get worse.
Much worse.
He begins seeing strange and impossible visions; gets thrown into paranormal danger and is haunted by a mysterious ghost with a singular goal: to give him a key.
It’s a key that opens the door to a mysterious library. When that door opens, the incredible adventure for Marcus and his friends begins as they learn the truth about Marcus’ past and uncover the strange world of unfinished stories that are found on the shelves of the Library.

Awesome cover! Love it!
I know! I couldn’t resist it. And it takes place in a library! LOL
Sounds intense! Thanks for sharing, and enjoy. Here’s mine: “I AM NO ONE”
I have a good feeling about this book:)
This sounds like a good one to read in October. Thanks for mentioning the book. Enjoy! 🙂
Tis the season to beware! LOL
Does this one end on a cliffhanger? MacHale caught me with an earlier series and left me hanging for a year until the second book came out. When I met him, I told him how annoyed I was and he laughed. Laughed, I say! I am spotlighting one from deep in TBR mountain – Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi. Happy reading!
I sure hope it doesn’t. This is my first story by the author. I did notice it’s the first in a series. Hope I don’t have to wait a year.
Sounds like a perfect Fall read!! Happy weekend!
You got it, Freda. I’m gathering my Halloween reads!
I want this book! 🙂 Love that cover and those two snippets about sealed the deal…lol. 🙂
LOL I had a feeling you’d like the sound of this one, Stormi!
This is going on my tbr! 😀
Check out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).
I have a feeling you’ll have fun with this one. I am!
A D.J. MacHale book! I absolutely love his stuff and this is already on my TBR. I’ll be reading it soon. His other stuff is great as well. If you haven’t checked it out, you definitely should. He is going to be in Cincinnati soon, but unfortunately I don’t get off work in time to make the 2 hour trip. Great post!
I’m sure I’ll be checking out his other books too. Too bad you can’t get off of work in time.
I bet this will be popular with students. Sounds like fun.
I bet it will too, Anne:)
This seem like a fun middle grade mystery! Love the synopsis and your snippets. Happy reading and here’s my Friday Meets: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/09/friday-meets-23-september-2016.html
I enjoy young readers books now and then. This promises to be right up my alley!
Great snippets and the cover makes it all the better. Fun choice since I am thinking about Halloween already! Thanks for sharing!
I love that cover! Never too soon to be reading some scary ones:)
