This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

Not much happened this week. Same old, same old.

The weather is warm and I’ve been working on my yard, cleaning and pruning and getting ready for new planting. I’ve done away with a lot of my flower beds and like the clean look. Now to plant some shrubs and saplings and fill the flower boxes with lovely colors. Hurry up spring! I’ve got the fever and my green thumb is antsy. LOL

As for the pool. Well, it’s a mess but won’t take long to get it clean and inviting. It’s just too darn cold yet and those darn leaves are just out of reach without having to get in there.

But I sure did read a bunch of books. And I’m well into listening to the rest of the John Cleaver series by Dan Wells. What a trip those are.

So without further adieu……..

  1. Greg Hill says:

Almost pool time! Well, maybe. 🙂 I definitely have spring fever… no snow here and March is close. lol

As usual, some fun looking books. Mountain of Lies, Cruel and Unusual and Ice all look interesting.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s clear skies and warm today. Problem is the pollen has my eyes all messed up. I guess pool and yard work will have to wait. I did find some good books this week. The blurbs grabbed me!

  2. Oooh! Working on the garden sounds lovely! It’s been awhile since I’ve worked on a garden and I would like to get back to it!

  3. Deborah says:

Good luck with the gardening and the pool. We’ve had no rain for ages so our grass is very brown and my garden’s barely grown. But… it’s a bit unwieldy. I’m not much of a gardner so think – when I can afford it – I’ll get my mowing guys to trim stuff back a bit!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m teaching my son some stuff so he can do the hard things for me now. Want to get things cleaned up before it gets hot here.

  4. It sounds like your garden is going to look lovely 🙂 But yes, it’s still too early in the year to be getting in the pool lol. I also have Princess Dracula, it looks so awesome from that cover! Even though I’ve totally forgotten what it’s about lol.

    • fuonlyknew says:

We may still get a cold snap or two so I’m mainly cleaning and prepping. I love the cover to that book too. Sounds like a good one.

  5. I tried Robert j Crane but his books didn’t really appeal to me. I hope you like them better! My dad and I are trying to finish the garden this year so it is low maintenance. I’m planning to start growing herbs, a couple of veg and some fruit over the next few years. I’m having to self teach which should be a riot!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I liked the cover and the series sounded good so I figured I’d give him a try. I taught myself most of what I know and don’t worry about it. LOL At least everything seems to grow.

  6. sjhigbee says:

We’ve had a few lovely days and I did venture to the top of the garden where there is a lovely clump of primroses bravely flowering. The last few years we have badly neglected the garden – I lost heart when the slugs just seemed to devour everything I put in the ground, other than established shrubs and I love growing things from seeds:(. But this year we are definitely going to spend more time working on it, together! Glad you managed to get a lot going on your plot. Have a great week, Laura:)

    • fuonlyknew says:

I have these lovely red flowering plants that the caterpillars get before they can open every year. The local nursery gave me some stuff to spread on the ground around them but it doesn’t seem to work. I’ll probably dig them up and toss them this year. A shame as they grow really tall and have a long stem of brilliant red blooms. Just never get to see them anymore.

  7. Drangonfly says:

so great you got some of that yard work started! I got the same feeling when I “downsized” my garden 🙂 minimalistic is the way to go for me since I have ZERO time to take care of my garden 🙂 I spend to much time “growing kids : now 🙂
OMG the cover of They Mostly Come Out At Night is AH-Maxing!!! I hope the book is good too!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, I’m more for low maintenance and focusing on things that stay green year round now. That cover is awesome. Crossing my fingers about the story.

  8. You had a good reading week! And I am so envious of your yard work progress. I have NO green thumb and no idea what I am doing! When we bought our house last year the previous owner had great landscaping. I am sure I will ruin it this year!

  9. I so wish I had a pool! All your pool talk makes me jealous…lol. It has been nice and I have been in my garden beds getting them reading for veggie planting. 🙂

You reviewed lots of books this week and grabbed a lot of books to read. I ended up with a few cause I seen they were free. 🙂

Happy reading and have a great week!

I have a front porch that runs the whole front of the house and yesterday I went out and hosed it down. Woke up this morning with bloodshot eyes and scratchy throat. The green pollen is wicked this time of year and my eyes are a mess. I won’t be going outside to work the yard today, even though I’ anxious to. The pool will wait too. It never used to bother me. Guess getting older comes with a price.

  10. Oh, I am glad I am not living in a house with a yard and a pool! I considered renting from my youngest son and his wife when they moved up north…but my daughter decided to go for it, and that works out great for me. She has the yard work, and I get to hang out there regularly.

We did have fun there the summer my eldest son and his wife visited. Pool parties and barbecues.

Your books look tempting…and are all new to me. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  11. It’s warm here in TX too and my bulbs are coming in and buds are forming on my flowering trees. It’s really pretty. I just know there has got to be another frost coming, it usually happens before Easter. Anyway, glad you got to work on your garden, it is very therapeutic too! Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen

  12. charliegirl says:

I repotted my plants last week into a large planter. Cera has already pulled out a snapdragon. I am ready for the weather to be just right to go back out and spend the morning or afternoon working in the yard. I have an idea of some new things I want to plant.

  13. We cannot plant anything here until mid May as we have had snow and frost as late as the second week of May. Glad you got a lot done!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s beautiful still, but I need to make myself wait before planting. We usually get a cold snap or two before spring is really here.

  14. yvonne473 says:

Tastes Like Murder is on my Kindle and looks good. Today was warm, but we still have snow on the ground. From the sound of the forecast this week, I think the snow should be gone. I just hope there is no more in the forecast. Hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know this warm weather won’t last and we will get more cold. But I do feel like it’s almost spring here for good.

  15. The weather has been amazing the last few days. Feels more like May than February. My crocuses are up, and I really ought to get out and do some yard work myself. (But I’d rather read!)

    • fuonlyknew says:

I ended up reading. The pollen really got to me and had to go inside and give my eyes a break. Never had that happen before.

  16. feeroberts64 says:

These look like some great books!

  17. jennifer@badbirdreads says:

I could do with Princess Dracula.

  18. I picked up one freebie. Thanks for adding to my mountain of books. LOL

  19. I have to keep reminding myself that it’s still February and I shouldn’t get too eager for spring yet—I’m guessing this warm weather is just a trick, but I’ll take it! 🙂

  20. We are still frozen over and will be until March which means I can continue to be lzay with the yard work. One bonus of living in the northeast, lol. I dread my pool this year. We left it closed last summer because it needs a new liner and it is going to be a disaster.

  21. I’m definitely ready for some warmer weather, I’m with you there. Especially because it’ll be nice to be able to get outdoors a bit, although, for me it will be for reading in the garden rather for gardening purposes. It’ll be just as enjoyable, I’m sure.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s been a beautiful week. Warm and sunny most of the time. I’m looking forward to doing some reading outside this coming weekend.
