This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

Some chit chat.
It’s a rainy weekend so I’m stuck inside reading and watching the telly. Oh darn! LOL Sitting around trying to decide which book to read got me thinking. I’ve noticed that I like to read certain types of books at different times of the year. Except for Christmas books and horror. I read those year round.
In the spring, I’m drawn to animal books and romance. In summer, I’m for some steamy or historical romance. In the fall, it’s deep thrillers and suspense. And winter sees me reading more horror and anything that involves battling harsh elements of nature.
This also got me thinking about beverages I enjoy while reading. In the spring I like the light colas such as Sprite and Ginger Ale. Summer is all about Iced Tea and yummy Sangria full of fruit. Fall will have me drinking Cider and dark Colas like Coke and Pepsi. And in the winter I enjoy hot tea and hot chocolate.

I don’t have different book moods according to the season. I just kind of decide what to do usually on a month by month basis but sometimes just based on what I want to read next. I’m having a bit of a crisis at the moment trying to decide whether to sacrifice my GR Challenge numbers to read huge GoT books or try to get some shorter books read to kickstart the challenge! Have a good week!
I didn’t realize I did it until I was looking at my reviews. I hop all over the place at times though. Can’t pass up a new arrival. LOL
I think my moods change with the season, too. I’ve been known to hold on to certain books until the fall because I know I will enjoy them more.
I hold off too. Especially on some of my Christmas reads. Otherwise I wouldn’t have any for the holidays. LOL
I don’t think the season affects my reading or drink choices. I am always a romance reader, and I always drink diet soda. Which is making me think about my need to maybe branch out…but I enjoy romance and diet soda, so I am happy with that!
I can’t pass up horror any time of the year and even though iced tea is great in the summer, I still drink it year round. We don’t have long or very cold winters.
I know I’m particularly drawn to sand and sorcery books, or steamy jungle settings when sweating in the heat is a distant dream… Other than that, I am not unduly affected by the seasons in my reading habits – I’m always a pushover for a great space opera adventure:). As for drinks – again, nothing if not predictable… it’s tea all the way, although exactly which type changes according to my mood. I’m guessing that you have to cope with MUCH hotter temperatures than we get, though…
I notice you enjoyed space operas. I enjoy your reviews. It’s been too long since I read any. Funny how I’ll jump all over the movies. I gave up coffee years ago and cold and hot tea are beverages I enjoy year round. Just maybe not as much as others according to the seasons. Weird. LOL

I’m an equal opportunity reader. I don’t have any particular genre I go to for a seasonal read. And I’m mostly a tea drinker (hot or cold just depends on my mood) and the occasional hot chocolate (cold months only). 🙂
I was surprised by the genres I read with different seasons. Beverages too. LOL
I do go for different books at different times of the year too, I’ve noticed. You have some good looking books this week (and some nice scary looking ones!). I love the look of Tell On You and Killing Time on Mars has me really curious! I’ll be going over to check that one out…

Wow. That’s awesome! It must be so exciting. I’m a mood reader. I read based on what I’m in the mood for at the time. It’s hard to stick to a certain genre. I’ll try to do it though one day.

Lmao Christmas books are what you read year-round? Christmas books are literally the one type of book I read during a certain time of year lol. But the reading moods you described for diff seasons make sense. The drinks also definitely make sense. I just pretty much only drink water, so that doesn’t change for me 😛
That’s funny. We are so opposite about them. I’m thinking I should have mentioned snacks too. But I always eat Doritos and nibble on a Hersheys Kiss. LOL
I definitely change drinks depending on the seasons, not genres through, that mostly happens when I read too much of something and I need a change.
When I’m approaching burn out in a genre, I pull a favorite reread off the shelf:)

It’s so odd. I never really noticed it. Now I’m worried I’ll not read something because it’s the wrong time of year. Nah!
Oh interesting on your habits. I do Christmas books year round, too. Drink-wise usually my only change is hot drinks in the fall/winter. I love some hot cocoa and do hot tea daily then. But in summer I avoid those. It’s just too hot here. But ice tea. All about that 😀
I like hot tea in the morning no matter the season. The same with iced tea when I first get home from work. My beverage changes are usually on the weekends when I’m reading:)
In terms of the genres I read, I pretty much go with what I feel like. (Or seriously, lately it’s been just ARCs.) But with beverages definitely seasonal. 🙂

Oh the Parasite looks creepy. I am a seasonal reader of sorts too. Although I will only read Christmas books in November and December.
I need to try to read the Christmas books closer to the holidays. I always wait until then to post reviews and often can’t remember much of the story if I don’t write the draft ahead of time. Which I often don’t LOL
Wow, that’s so interesting that you are a seasonal reader – especially that you read Christmas books year round! Lol, that is just so cute 🙂 as for me – nope, I haven’t noticed a seasonal trend. For me it’s more like a weekly trend 😀 I am totally a mood reader, but my moods change faster.
My moods change fast too. I can have just finished a children’s book or maybe a romance, and the next book I reach for is a thriller or horror. LOL
Our weather can’t decide what it wants to do here either. Rain, nice, cold… it just can’t decide. lol. Hope the week is going well for you.

I get it, I do tend towards lighter books during summer months. Romance and YA whilst in colder months I’m far happier reading fantasy. I don’t think I have a different mood for every season but definitely for when it’s warm out.
