This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

I fell asleep last night while reading a horror story. Usually they don’t cause nightmares or make me scared to go to sleep. I came awake slowly. Something was wrong. I heard loud breathing. Felt warm breath on face. Bad breath! I was afraid to open my eyes. Did someone get in the house? Was I about to be raped or murdered? I cracked open my eyes. Something was in bed with me! It’s mouth was sprinkled with grey hairs. It’s nose was cold. It’s eyes were rolled back in its head. Oh man. It’s my dog, Quigley. LOL He got in the bed and lay down with his head on my pillow. Talk about a waker upper. That’ll teach me to read scary books before going to sleep. And I need to get him some doggie denture sticks. His breath. Whew!

And now….It’s all about the books! I got a bunch. Reviewed some. And browsed a whole bunch of freebies for ya!

That would scare the crap out of ya lol! Glad it was just the dog! 🙂

Valley of Embers and Green Grow The Rashes look good. Or at least both those covers do. Hope the stories are good as well. I read Nightstruck last year and it was pretty fun, the sequel just came out.

And of course I need to get River of Teeth now. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I guess I’m lukcy he wasn’t snoring. I’m not married and that would have scared the crap out of me. LOL I just started Valley Of Embers and it’s going good so far. I’ve enjoyed some of William’s other stories so I expect to enjoy Green Grow The Rashes too. I’m sure I’ll be buying the next book after finishing Nightstruck. Sounds wild.

    • fuonlyknew says:

And River Of Teeth was something else!

  2. Enjoy your haul…I am curious about Straw Berries. Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  3. fuonlyknew says:

Thanks. I sure hope to. Strawberries is my kind of reading so I have high hopes:)

  4. That sounds like a really bad dream. Yikes! I almost never read horror books!
I love the look of your new books. ‘Of Beast and Beauty’ sounds like a great read. And I love that cover.
Have a great week and happy reading! 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

I won a retelling book of choice and went with a recommendation for Of Beast And Beauty. It’s unique and I think I’m going to really like it. I love horror so I guess I’ll take those occasional frights. LOL

  5. Dog breath is the second worst! Waking up thinking there is an unwelcome stranger in your bed is the worst! LOL at your fright 🙂

  6. Lol I couldn’t read a horror before bed I would give myself nightmares. You got some great books. I like the look of beast and beauty. Have a great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I don’t usually have any problems going to sleep after reading horror. My dog sure surprised me though. LOL Of Beast And Beauty was a retelling book of choice I won. It came highly recommended.

  7. Hahaha 😀 the dog 😀 oh my god… That was hilarious!

  8. A true book addict lol “Went a little crazy on Amazon, too!” We’ve all been there! x lol

    • fuonlyknew says:

Hanging my head in shame. NOT! I did go a bit crazy but it’s been a while since the last episode. LOL

  9. Savanah | Off-Color Literature says:

I know the pain of waking up with a dog in your face all too well! My dog weighs over 100 pounds but thinks she belongs on laps and in human beds.

That is a lot of books for one month! How excited!

  10. Ha ha, that story about your dog was too funny!

  11. Your dog sounds like my rabbit, ‘your bed is my bed’!

    • fuonlyknew says:

He gets up there and actually pulls back the covers and gets under them! Makes himself right at home. LOL Drives me crazy as the dog hair is itchy. I even cover my bedspread with a sheet I can take off and shake out. LOL The things we do for our furrry friends:)

  12. Bahaha. Quigley. I’m sorry you got a fright but I think horror book or no it might have been scary!

Valley of Embers looks so interesting. I need to check that out.

You got a whole lot of books this week! I hope you enjoy them!

    • fuonlyknew says:

You’d think after 11 years there would be no surprises. LOL He’s a lovely scamp though! I grabbed Valley Of Embers as I haven’t read the genre in a while. It looked and sounded good.

  13. So funny about your dog!! I use greenies sometimes for my little dog. Thanks for the freebies and have a great week!

  14. OMG LOL I’m like that too, my dreams are influence by what I watch. Poor doggie, but I totally get the bad breath thing. Yuk.

  15. I think I am more concerned when I wake up and the dogs ARENT there. That usually means they are up to something. Sorry you had to wake up like that! Have a great week!

  16. sjhigbee says:

Ewww… waking up to dog’s breath isn’t good! We used to give Diesel thost dental dog chews every day and it certainly improved it – though I still wasn’t thrilled with him huffing in my face – but then he ate cat and fox poo… Hope your mornings are a lot more fragrant this coming week:)

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah. Before my cat, Sheba, passed away it was a race to clean the litter box before Quigley got to it. LOL

  17. Katherine P says:

LOL on you wakeup! I have to be careful about the books I read right before I go to sleep. Most books are fine but every once in awhile a book sticks in my brain and I end up being very jumpy! A chapter or 2 of something happy or boring seems to fix that right up. Have a great week!

  18. Angelized1st says:

LOL, your dog just wanted to snuggle.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I enjoy that, but I also recently talked about his not so rosy smelling nighttime emissions. LOL

  19. What a way to wake up. LOL I am glad it was only Quigley. 🙂 I don’t generally have nightmares from books either.

Looks like you got some great books there! Amazon can be hard to resist, especially when the price is right (free is even better).

I hope you have a great week, Laura!

  20. Yeesh! I know what it’s like to wake up after reading a scary book! Thank god it was your dog! Have a great week!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!

  21. I grabbed some of the same freebies. I really want to read River of Teeth because I’m hearing a lot of good things about it. Going crazy on Amazon is always fun from time to time.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I had some restraint and din’t grab all of the freebies. LOL River Of Teeth was a huge hit for me. And my trip to Amazon is only showing ones I received. I still have pre-orders I’m waiting on and print books! I was a bad girl. LOL

  22. yvonne473 says:

    Well, that sounds scary 🙂

Hope you enjoy all those books and have a great week!

  23. Jo-Ann says:

Hehe…it’s a good thing dogs are so cute! Nice haul!
    Here’s my Sunday Post

  24. atothewr says:

My cat has done that as well. Glad you are okay. Luckily it wasn’t Cujo.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Cujo! That movie gave me the shivers. I own it and can’t watch it. And that’s saying something as I devour horror!

  25. Heidi says:

Just checked out your review for River of Teeth. I can’t wait to get my copy. It sounds awesome.

  26. I’m real excited about Strawberries.
    sherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes

  27. Drangonfly says:

OMG Laura that is terrifying! But thank god it was Quigley! BTW you should write horror books! You got me all terrified and it was only a paragraph LOL thanks for sharing the freebies!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks! I keep thinking of trying my hand at some short stories. Then I get caught up in the next great read. LOL

  28. LOL I have a kitty that likes to do that. Or press her nose to my eyelids. Wakes you up quick. lol So many pretty new reads! They look so good!

  29. Great cover on Valley of Embers. I tried the first Vertical City book but it had characters I didn’t like so you know what I did with that! Yes I’m very picky! Hopefully you’ll have a better time with it though.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I agree about the cover for Valley Of Embers. Sounds good too and great title also. I was hesitant about Vertical City. I get lots of books because of your reviews and now I’m worried. LOL

  30. Naomi Hop says:

Haha! I can’t believe that your dog jumped in your bed and then scared the bejeebas out of ya!
Have a great week, enjoy your new reads!
