This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

It’s been a good week. Not much exciting but that’s okay. I read some books. Watched some telly. And even snuck in a few naps.

I was sitting on my back patio after taking a dip in the pool and happened to look over at my Banana trees. I’ve got bananas!

20170728_113020

Well, it’s the start of bananas. They won’t be as large as the ones you buy in the grocery store. I’ll keep you updated as they develop.

Now for what I’ve been watching. Watched more of The Mist and not sure if I’ll continue with it. It just doesn’t do anything for me. Now, Mr. Mercedes. That’s another story. I loved the book and loving that they cast Brendan Gleeson as Detective Bill Hodges. He’s perfect for the role and the series starts off with a bang! Also watched more of Preacher. Such a weird show and I love it. Zoo is hit or miss and I’ll keep watching for now. Are you watching any of these? Got any suggestions for other shows?

And did anyone watch the Sharknado Marathon Saturday night? I did. Made a giant bowl of popcorn with extra butter and watched them all. So cheesy and so fun. LOL Ten hours of campy shark films made me happy for commercials so I could skip to the ladies room and get more iced tea.

I’ll be heading over to your posts soon. Happy Sunday!

I missed the Sharknado marathon, sadly, but I do want to see the new one. I gave up on the Mist but maybe it will get better? And I’ve heard that Zoo got kinda out there, I watched S1 but haven’t sat down to get caught up yet. I’m kinda between shows at the moment.

The Great Zoo of China looks good. And nice to see a new Kate Parker- I read the first few Victorian Bookshop mysteries and thought they were pretty good.

    • fuonlyknew says:

The marathon was fun. I’m think I’m all sharked out for now. Not! LOL
The Great Zoo Of China was pretty good. I’d love to see it made into a well funded movie. I’m jumping into Kate’s series with this fifth book and will go back for the others if it’s my cup of tea.

  2. Bananas and naps. Hooray! It is so funny, I protested when I was small about naps, but I love them now! Have a great week my friend.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Up until about a year ago I never took naps. Always felt it was wasting precious time. I love a quick nap now and actually get more done. LOL

  3. beansreview says:

Holy crap you have a banana tree??!!! Thank you so much for the amazing freebies. Have a great week!

  5. I didn’t watch the Sharknado marathon but I do have plans to binge watch it at some point this month. I’ve watched 2 headed, 3 headed, 5 headed shark attack and rewatched Deep Blue Sea which I love so I’m off to a good start this weekend! Not sure I’ll ever go to the beach again! Ah the Great Zoo of China! I do hope to get that read at some point before the year ends!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I live within shouting distance of the ocean and don’t step foot in it anymore. I’m even nervous when we go deep sea fishing. I’ve seen some huge sharks out there. I loved Deep Blue Sea. That dumb bird. LOL

  6. I didn’t watch the Sharkado marathon but my dad did, I just can’t bring myself to watch them…lol. I watched Garage Sale Mysteries instead. 🙂 Have you tried Midnight, Texas, it’s kind of corny but I like it. 🙂 I still need to watch episode 3. I don’t get the channel with Mr. Mercedes but I am buddy reading that book next month.

Have a great week and happy reading!

I forgot to mention Midnight, Texas. I’m caught up on it and will continue with it for now. You’ll like the book And it looks the shows going to be good too. I’m now reading Dr. Sleep.

  7. Wow, bananas! I had a weed growing on my patio; it just sprang out of nowhere, I thought. It looked like it was growing nuts…but then they never quite happened. LOL. Hopefully yours will deliver the bananas.

Enjoy your books. I am curious about The Flip.

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • fuonlyknew says:

They’re just getting started. The purple covering is all peeled back now and they should start taking shape. The Flip was good. I’ve read all of Michael’s books and enjoyed them.

  8. Anastasia says:

You’ve got bananas!! That’s so cool! I know of no other person who would also have banana plants 😀 Have you watched Stranger Things? That’s one good show

    • fuonlyknew says:

These were ones I brought from my old house. Had a huge batch of them there. This is the first year they’ve borne bananas. I love Stranger Things and can’t wait for the new episodes.

  9. Jenea says:

Naps are great! The bananas look good. 🙂 Enjoy your new books and your week too.

  10. Awesome about your banana tree! I’m curious to know how it would taste compared to super market ones.

I love Tonya Kappes, haven’t read that one yet. Hope you enjoy your reads and have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

They are smaller and sweeter. I like my bananas a little green. Have to try that this time. And I enjoy Tonya’s books too. Read a bunch of them:)

  11. I caught some of the Sharknado movies – they kill me. Especially the flaming sharks. The Hunter Shea book is quite popular this week – I grabbed it too. I have so many books by Amy Cross that I’ve grabbed for free that I really should read one of them. There are only two more episodes of The Mist this season so I will stick it out. This week’s episode shared a secret about the girl’s rape which I suspected all along. I knew something was off. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mr. Mercedes and you are right, the casting is awesome. Such cute bananas!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The Sharknado movies are so bad that they’re great. LOL Are you going to buddy read Hunter’s book? And I think Mr. Mercedes is going to be incredible!

  12. Evelina says:

Bananas! Oh my gosh! That just sounds so weird to me cause where I live no bananas are ever possible 😀 this is amaaaazing! Please post more pics later. So cool.

  13. Berls says:

Sounds like a marvelous week, naps to boot! So are you watching old seasons of Zoo or does it have new stuff? We watched two (three?) seasons and came to the end of what was available on Netflix… and I think I assumed that was the end of the show. Wouldn’t mind seeing more.

    Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The new season of Zoo is on TV right now. I’ll keep watching because I’m into it now but not what I was hoping for.

  14. All right, I grabbed a couple and Sharknadoed my way through the weekend. LOL

  15. sjhigbee says:

Oh wow! Bananas:)). What fun!! I have taped Sharknado V and am waiting for my writing buddy to come on over and watch it with me as we’ll have a hilarious time together. And I NEED a good laugh right now. Glad you had such a fun binge-watch, Laura.

  16. Katherine P says:

That’s so cool about the bananas! Bananas are one of those fruits that it never occurs to me that people can actually grow on their own. I’ve only seen a few minutes of the Sharknado movies but it does look like fun – especially with a big bowl of popcorn! Enjoy your new books. I have my eye on the Kate Parker mystery. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The first time one of my trees gave me bananas I was so excited. Still am ebn though I’ve had them for 20+ years. The Sharknado movies are so bad they’re good. LOL

  17. Sorry that I didn’t get here last week! I love seeing pictures of things people have growing in their yards. Bananas are certainly exotic to this Northerner!

    • fuonlyknew says:

No worries. We all have a life outside of blogging. They were exotic to me a long time ago. Still are to be honest:)
