This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

What’s been happening this week? Well, the news is all about Hurricane Irma. A massive storm heading for the west coast of Florida. So far, it’s not supposed to do much in my area. I live about one hour west of Pensacola, which is located in the Florida panhandle. This storm has moved more west that first reported and I’m anxiously waiting for the turn to the north that is supposed to happen. Keep all those in Irma’s path in your thoughts and prayers.

This is last weeks photo for the bananas.

And here is some from this week.

We had a little cold front move through and I think it caused the flowers to fall off. A new leaf has peeled back so I’m hoping for more flowers and should see some bananas forming soon. I hope!

Here are some of the flowers that fell off.

I was researching on line and found out that the large purple thing is actually filled with flowers and is kind of like a bulb. It will continue to open up and produce rows of flowers and bananas. And you can eat the flowers too.

I’ll be heading over to your posts soon. Happy Sunday!

I have an uncle in Pensacola and an aunt in Fort Morgan so I’m glued to the weather channel right now! I keep hoping she’ll break apart or dramatically weaken but Irma isn’t being cooperative. Stay safe! My daughter’s at Auburn and they’ve cancelled class up there for Monday already so I think everyone’s expecting craziness. I need to find the Tremayne book. The Loch Ness monster has always fascinated me. Stay safe and have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s not looking good for Florida anywhere you go. Irma is just so massive. I’m watching closely as it seems to shift tracks often. I have several of Tremayne’s books and will be reviewing them in October. I like Loch Ness stories too. Hunter Shea has one and so does Steve Alten. They were good.

  2. I was so hopeful Irma would continue on eastward before it turned back to the west. I hope you stay safe where you are. The flowers look a little like a lily bloom.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I think we are good where I’m at. I won’t relax until another day though. I was surprised you could eat the flowers. LOL The little bulge on the sides are the beginnings of bananas. Sad that these got blown off.

  3. Hope you stay safe and I’m hoping it will move away from you. I had no idea so many bloggers I knew are in the path of this horrible thing. I can’t imagine how you guys are feeling so fingers crossed everything is ok.

Ooh Haunted House! I want to read this so bad but I need to read the other kilborn ones first to get familiar with all the characters. Hope to read them next month.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s weakening and looks like all I’ll get is some breezy wind. Crossing fingers it keeps its current path. Haunted House was good. He writes a wicked series.

  4. I hope Irma continues to miss you and I also hope it dies down to nothing. Hoping everyone is safe in Florida!

Those two books you got look really good! I grabbed a couple of those freebies too…lol.

    Stay safe and happy reading!
    Stormi

    • fuonlyknew says:

So far so good here, Stormi. Just windy and cloudy. I actually sat outside and got some reading in earlier. Tomorrow will tell more. I may have only grabbed two new ones but I’m really excited about them. I finally got you again with the freebies! LOL

  5. limabean74 says:

I think they said once it hits up by you guys it will completely fall apart, which is great for you! You might still have those winds! Stay Safe regardless! I am thinking of you all!

You got a lot of great reads, I think I have Haunted House! Would love to see what you think, I am in a good horror mood lately!

Have a great week, Laura! Stay Safe and Happy Reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It has fallen apart somewhat. So many people must be relieved about it. I am in full horror and thriller mode. Haunted House was good. I’m drafting a bunch of posts for October so September is a bit neglected. LOL Thanks so much:)

  6. We’ve been watching the news of the hurricane. I have family on the west coast of Florida, so of course we’re worried about them. Stay safe—even though you’re not in the eye of the storm, it seems like all of Florida will be affected in some way.

  7. Hope you stay safe! And thanks for all the freebie links…just what an addict like me needs! LOL

  8. Stay safe! Enjoy all those lovely books, and thanks for sharing.

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  9. Jenea says:

I hope you stay safe down there. I’ll keep you in my thoughts. You should have some bananas soon too!!! Enjoy the books. I’m off to check some of them out now. 😉

    Thanks for stopping by earlier.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Everything should be good here. Just some wind gusts. I sure hope this doesn’t hurt my bananas. I really am having fun sharing their progress each week. Happy clicking. LOL

  10. I’m really hoping Irma doesn’t turn your way!!! I thought it looked like you were in the tropical storm path, tho 🙁 Be safe!!!!! I know you’d LOVE to come up here to Michigan to hide, right? hahahahahaha!!!

Tremayne’s “Loch Ness is evil” really looks good! That loch is so old, there’s got to be evil in that water and it’s not just Nessie!! Yay for Halloween almost here!!

Have a good week and seriously, I hope you stay dry!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It appears we’ve dodged it. Lots of people haven’t and it’s still happening. Michigan sounds good right now. My brother sent me text inviting up there if the storm did any damage. I bet he’s rethinking moving down to Florida now. LOL Nah, he hates the cold. LOL I have several of Tremayne’s books. Look closely at the cover. That ridge in the middle…I don’t think it’s land!

  11. My prayers to everyone in Florida. Stay safe! I have cousins in the state and last I heard, they boarded up and stayed. Thanks for sharing the freebies. I just snagged Foxtails and From the Grave. Hope you have a good week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Barb. I hope your family comes this it okay. Thankfully, it weakened and the surge isn’t going to be as bad as they thought. Enjoy those freebies. I sure have fun browsing for them.

  12. I hope it doesn’t come your way. Stay safe regardless.

Hope your banana is super yummy. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

It looks like we won’t get much here. Thanks:) I hope the winds don’t kill my bananas so I can enjoy them when they’ve formed.

  13. Heidi says:

All eyes are definitley on Florida. We have family in Jacksonville so we are watching. Fingers crossed that Florida will escape horrific damage. Be safe!

  14. Yvonne says:

I hope the storm doesn’t come your way. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

  15. katarguelles says:

I hope the storm doesn’t turn your way. I grabbed the Cheree Alsop series. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great week!

  16. Be safe, hopefully nothing more than wind and rain for you. As always your books have me clicking to learn more.

  17. Stay safe and hope the hurricane isn’t as bad as they think!! Have a great week!

  18. Enjoy your books and have a wonderful week. I’m currently watching the news. My thoughts and prayers are with those who live there. ??❤️

  19. Good luck to you guys!! I hope you don’t get much of the storm.

  20. Greg Hill says:

Be safe! Hopefully that monster of a storm will weaken lots before it gets anywhere near you guys.

The Curse of Loch Ness looks awesome, I’ve always loved me some Nessie lol. And Dinosaur Lake- same!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

She’s huffing and puffing outside right now but looks like we got lucky:) Thanks, Greg. Dinosaur Lake was wicked. I’ve read all of the books and each one was great. I have many of Peter’s books and will be sharing them in October. Got three Nessie books by different authors too.

  21. I love a good storm, but not hurricanes. Glad it is slacking off and so far so good here in Pensacola.

    • fuonlyknew says:

We did good until this afternoon. Winds are strong and howling outside right now. Earlier I was thinking I put everything up for nothing. Not anymore. We sure were lucky, weren’t we!

  22. Forgot…wanted to mention the cool pics of the banana plant. Got to get me some of those!

  23. I didn’t have a chance to stop by until Monday, by which time Irma had already changed course a little and raked the west coast of Florida. Which means, given the size of the monster, that you probably felt at least some of the effects. I hope you and all you hold dear are safe.

  24. I did not know you could eat banana flowers. If I am ever stranded on a tropicil isle, that info might come in handy. I hope you had a great week and that Irma completely passed you by.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m hoping it grows more flowers so the bananas will form. Irma gave us gusty winds and some rain but nothing major. Thanks!
