This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you moms!

This week was crazy busy a work. And HOT!!!! Around 90 each day. Guess what I did? Every day I’d come home from work, throw on my swim suit and head right to the pool. The water temp is the low 80s so it feels so cool when I get in.

I’ve got in a lot of reading. And I’m now writing a bunch of reviews so I can get ahead on bogging for the summer. And I’ve continued to watch The Terror. It’s really ramping up. Also watching new episodes of The Doctor Blake Mysteries. Finally back on! And bot did they get me with that one episode. If you watch this, I;m sure you know which one I’m talking about. And I watched the first season of The Rain. Anybody else watching it? What do you think?

And now for my weekly plant update!

They are still growing! The leaves are now all the way up to my chest.

20180512_105654

This is my largest Sega. I was worried that it wouldn’t be growing new leaves. It sometimes skips a year.

But then…. this!

20180512_105533

The tendrils are super soft and fluffy. I’m thinking this is the beginning of a huge seed bowl. yippee! Free segas. It will be fun to show you how they develop and grow. It’s really weird looking.

And some of you were wondering about my banana trees.

20180512_105619

Some are now already up to the roof line!

And here are some other shrubs stating to bloom. Pretty blue blossoms that form into huge balls.

20180512_105542

And I have no idea what this is but the colors are so lovely.

20180512_105444

And my Yucca is going crazy. It’s gotten huge and there are a bunch of them. You have to be careful around these. If you get stuck by one it hurts like the dickens.

20180512_111204

They also grow every which way. I had a couple I had to cut back because they grew horizontal along the ground. I have these tucked up close to the house so I don’t get poked when I walk by. They are about 9 feet tall. They get a glorious bloom but it seems to only happen every few years. I’m hoping it will this year so I can show you.

That’s all folks.

Have a fabulous  Sunday!

A Smidgeon of Ghosts (Madeline Donovan Mysteries Book 6) by [Kent, Madison]  Strange Toys by [Geary, Patricia]  Poor Things by [Barnett, Daniel]

And just look at these beauties! I won this box of books giveaway from Sara on her blog Forever 17.

20180512_172942

Thanks, Sara!! I’ll be gobbling this up out by the pool.

*****

And this week I won’t be sharing the usual batch of free books. I’ve been getting up early and heading right outside to read and enjoy nature. Plus, I’ve been sending every day in the pool. I’ll be back to sharing them next week!

20180512_120404

The water temp is a cool low 80s. Just the way I like it!

And Quigley got a bath.

20180512_104929

As soon as I was done he had to go roll around and get dirty again. LOL He’s that strange blob in the sun. I would have got a better picture but he would stand up when I got closer. Had to drop my float and snap this quickie when he wasn’t looking.

I loved The Rain! Definitely a win, and I’m 2 episodes into The Terror and I’m hooked. Dr. Blake I think is on my list of shows to watch one of these days… and yay for 90’s? That’s a little too hot for me, but I imagine the pool cools it off nicely!

Should be fun to see how your segas grow all summer.

Strange Toys looks fun, and Alice Isn’t Well… lol that cracks me up.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I read a book that was similar to the plot for The Rain. It was interesting too. The Terror really is getting ramped up now. I have the book its based on and curious how closely the show follows it. My plants are all doing so well. And I did find some good books:)

  2. Your “don’t know what’s” look like hydrangeas to me 🙂 everything looks amazing! We’ve also has really warm weather this year. It was literally snowing at around this time last year! Magic summer.

    • fuonlyknew says:

They must be a different type of hydrangeas. They smell good too. I’m loving the summer weather and my time in the pool. Didn’t think summer would ever get here.

  3. Jenea says:

All the plants seem to be thriving with all the warm weather. Me no to much. Lol… I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one who went a little crazy with the books this week. 😉 Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yes, they are doing really well. I love to sit outside and just look at them. And I did go a bit crazy with books this week. It was due. LOL

  4. I’ve noticed The Rain on my Netflix queue while scrolling through. I will have to give it a try.

The plants are doing well, and how great to enjoy those swims everyday.

The books look tempting, too. Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It was a good week! I sure have enjoyed my daily dips in the pool. Heading outside shortly to read and do some more swimming:)

  5. Happy mother’s day. Love the plant pics.

  6. I so wish I had a pool!!! It’s been nice here but not swimming temps yet at least for me…lol.

Love all your plants! I need to plant some pretties!

Hope you enjoy all them books!

  7. Yay for winning that awesome pile of books! And the plants are looking great! Have a great week enjoying your pool!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love winning these boxes. I find new authors and some books I really want. I already have them stacked in the order I want to read them. LOL I finished one already while out by the pool today:)

  8. kozbisa says:

I have no flora knowledge, but I love the pink and yellow ones too. Nice box of books! The Illuminae Files is one of my favorite series. I hope you enjoy it. I have been wanting to read We Come Apart too.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m lucky that my plants take care of themselves except for some pruning and pulling weeks. They grow so quickly. I read Gemina and had Illumine on my cart to buy. Was thrilled to get it and now have ordered Obsidio so I can finish the series.

  9. I loves seeing your plants each week. 🙂 My vegetables are starting to bloom. I will try to remember to get pics this week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I look forward to your pics. I sure am enjoying sharing mine and it makes me look at my yard more and enjoy being out there.

  10. I’m jealous, I wish I could throw on a swimsuit and head to the pool on warm days I definitely picked the wrong country to live in. And look at your plants growing, I do not have a green finger, I end up killing things mostly through forgetting about them I think.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I come home from work and grab my swim suit that I hang to dry in the shower and head right out. I probably wouldn’t even go outside without the pool. LOL I ave to remember to water everything when we go too long without rain. The sun is brutal here and everything starts to wilt.

  11. sjhigbee says:

Happy Mothers’ Day to you:)). Your plant pics are amazing – I can’t get over how quickly your bananas are growing and those pink flowers are beautiful! Thank you for sharing – I just wish I could splash in your pool and experience those wonderful temperatures:). Have a lovely week, Laura!

    • fuonlyknew says:

And Happy Mother’s Day to you, Sarah:) the banana trees are thriving. There are many smaller ones I couldn’t fit into the picture. I love the pool and could stay in it all day. Got a little sunburn today though.

  12. Jackie says:

I saw the notification about The Rain but I have not watched it. I also haven’t heard about Doctor Blake Mysteries. That isn’t my cup of tea anyway. Your plant life looks well. Our trees are barely in bloom in Calgary but the leaves have been green since the beginning of May . Have a relaxing and wonderful Mother’s Day!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I am watching so many shows right now. Each day has some new episode to check out. Gotta love summer for movies, new books and the pool! Happy Mother’s Day to you too:)

  13. What is it about dogs and baths and immediately getting dirty again? I’m glad you’re getting lots of use out of your pool. You know, I’d be afraid to count how many Amy Cross books I have on my kindle that I grabbed for free. There always seems to be one offered that I don’t have. Hope you have a wonderful week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I shouldn’t have been surprised when he went and lay in the dirt. LOL Luckily he was dry and so was the ground. I have a list of Amy’s books that I have and will slowly be reviewing all of them. The least I can do when she gives them away.

  14. I’m new to the Sunday Post so I’m trying to check out all the other blogs. We have a pool in our neighborhood which just opened this weekend. It’s also in the 90s here this weekend, but mostly 80s. I laughed when you said 80s for the water. When I took life-gaurding classes in high school it was early morning and the water was a chilly 55!! I used to have a huge garden when I lived in the midwest but here in NC the soil isn’t very good where I am. Anne

    • fuonlyknew says:

Welcome to the gang. I love this meme. I’ve met plenty of fun book lovers and found so many new books and authors. The water is warming up fast. A few weeks ago it was around 60 and took my breath away. LOL

  15. Looking forward to pool time! It is a few weeks away for us. Love the pretty plants. Have a great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I was just watching the news and we are already starting to get some tropical weather. Got something small brewing in the Gulf. Glad I got some pool time in as we’ll be getting some storms around mid week.

  16. Wow! Lots of awesome books you got here and your garden looks lovely! Have you seen Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries before? I love that series!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays and Cover Spotlight!

  17. It was super hot here earlier in the week too. The municipal pool isn’t open yet though so I am envious of your daily dips!

  18. I went to a greenhouse on Saturday and saw those plants with the blue and pink clusters of flowers but can’t recall the name! Very pretty! The best way to beat the heat is the pool. That’s an awesome book package that you won! Have a great week. I’m jealous that you are watching The Terror. I don’t get that channel 🙁

    • fuonlyknew says:

Every time I walk outside I smile. I love my yard! I’ve been so busy. Reading all the books. Watching all the shows. LOL

  19. I have always wanted a house with an indoor swimmi ng pool so I can enjoy it in all weathers…maybe if I win the lottery…

    • fuonlyknew says:

I always did too! Especially when I lived in the north and most of the year was too cold for swimming.

  20. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

I wish I had access to a warm pool. That would be lovely!

  21. Ha, my pup never cooperates for pics either. I always have to be very sneaky. Great book haul this week! I have The Terror DVR’d but I watched the first episode and was a wee bit bored but maybe I was just tired. I’ll try it again because I keep hearing good things.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, he’s on and off about getting his pic taken. LOL The Terror was a bit of a slow start but then it sucks you in.

  22. Heidi says:

The pink and yellow flowers are Lantana, I used to have them in my yard in Phoenix. Beautiful shrubs that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. I am now missing my pool seeing your pictures. I don’t think I would move back to PHX though for the pool, too hot!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks for letting me know. They came with the house. LOL I have tons of butterflies and the hummingbirds hover around several things I have growing.

  23. It has been hot here too! Summer is coming! :O Great new books this week! That Illuminae ARC is beautiful!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Its hot but I’m loving it. LOL I already finished Illuminae and now I’m rereading Gemina to get ready for Obsidio!

  24. Love the pink and yellow blooms! I’m thinking lantana but have no idea why. I love flowers but never enough to really learn about them! I’m a wimp when it comes to pool water temp and prefer high 80s – just slightly cooler than bath water. Of course it has to be crazy hot for me to go swimming. Hope you’re having a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Someone else mentioned Lantana’s too. And I enjoy the cooler water while it lasts. It does did super hot here and the water heats up quickly also. I like a little shock when I get in. LOL

  25. Coming home from work and chilling in the pool sounds blissful! I’m so jealous, lol.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s wonderful. I probably wouldn’t go outside in the afternoon if it weren’t for the pool:)

  26. Glad you’re enjoying the weather and hanging out in the pool!! I watched the first episode of The Rain, and I’m definitely planning to watch more — need to get on the elliptical today, so I can watch! I wrote a whole post about the subbing/dubbing of the show because I was surprised it was dubbed.
