He was especially intrigued by her expression, which reflected a delicate obliviousness to the world around her, a profound absorption in the contents of her book, and a deep contentment unlike anything Walter had ever observed before. Her eyes moved almost lovingly across the book’s yellowed pages. as if she was enamored with the words she was reading. Walter vaguely recognized her expression as that of a mother gazing tenderly into the eyes of her child.

This was a bit of a long teaser. I had to share it. I’m sure we have all had that look on our faces when reading a wonderful book.

Synopsis

He starts his quest with a single goal in mind, finding Elaine, but along the way Walter discovers that saving her is only a small part of his destiny. During his travels, he encounters a long-lost relative, a warrior matriarch, and a mystical kingdom forgotten to time. Yet Walter’s true journey occurs not in physical space, but the captivating depths of his mind.

An inventive blend of dystopian science-fiction and fantasy, the Jade Rebellion explores whether we can overcome technological determinism by preserving history, nature, spirituality, and ultimately, our humanity.
