Welcome to The Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice.
This is a really fun meme!
The only rules are to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader and find a sentence or a few (no spoilers) that grabs you and post it.
Then go over to Freda’s Voice and leave your link so we can visit your 56!
My 56 for this week is from:
Sit… Stay… Beg
The Dogfather #1
by Roxanne St. Claire
Genre: Contemporary Romance
From 56% in the eBook.
Careful, Jessie,” he warned softly. “If we succeed in finding Lola’s loving owner, you’ll have to say goodbye.”
She melted more into the dog. “But she’d be happier.”
“I don’t know if she could be any happier,” he said, giving the dog a pat. “Look at that smile.”
I love books with dogs in them. And a Dogfather? How could I resist!
This scene mentions a dog smiling. I know my dog can smile. Does yours?

Synopsis
Garrett Kilcannon, a former dot com super-success who now devotes his life to rescuing dogs and finding them homes, prefers to keep his secrets buried as deep as a dog hides his bone. So when he learns his father has invited a journalist to Waterford Farm to write and produce an in-depth profile on him, he doesn’t care that she’s a childhood friend or drop dead gorgeous. He has zero tolerance for the media…until he sees a different side when she gets through the walls of a rescue dog who’s refused to eat during her short stay at Waterford. Unwillingly charmed and undeniably attracted, Garrett agrees to the interview that could break down a few of his emotional walls, too.
Garrett might not want to share the story of his colorful former life, but Jessie Curtis has the skills to peel back the layers of this sexy, complicated, caring man. In the process, she not only discovers his secrets, she finds herself falling for a man who touches her heart in a way she never thought possible. Her entire career is riding on this one explosive interview, but can she bear to repay Garrett’s trust by selling his secrets? Or can a woman who gave up on happiness a long time ago learn to believe that all it takes to rescue a lost heart is the love of a good man?

The Dogfather isn’t just one man…it’s a brand new contemporary romance series from New York Times bestselling author Roxanne St. Claire celebrating what she loves most: hot guys, great dogs, big families…and true love. And a portion of the proceeds from every book in the series will be donated to the Alaqua Animal Refuge in the author’s home state of Florida! Every “cover dog” is a rescue from Alaqua, where the series covers are photographed!
I haven’t even finished the first book but I went ahead and grabbed the next two!
And these are on my wish list for after I finosh the first three.

You can find a list of my reviews HERE.
This one looks interesting. Thanks for mentioning it.
The series looks so fun. I had to try it:)
Not my usual reads but I have been eyeing these and it’s TOTALLY for the dogs on the covers. I had no idea they were all rescues and some of the sales goes for donations. I’ll definitely be making a point to buy them rather than trying to find them at the library or Hoopla. Supporting animal causes AND books – what a great combination!
I had to give these a try. And I also love that about the donations and wanted to share it!
Aww, the dogs on the covers are real rescue dogs? That’s adorable! That right there is a good reason to buy the books.
I know. So many wonderful things about the books along with the fun stories!
Love the teaser! I don’t think that I can resist a dogfather, either. I hope that you enjoy it! 🙂
I can’t wait to meet more of these dogfathers!
Oh wow, I love these titles! My dogs definitely smile too😊
I think my dog laughs too. He at least snorts and rolls his eyes at me. LOL
So sweet! Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

I’m excited as these are my first books by her!
Awww! I love that a portion of the sales is being donated! That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
I love that too. And that the dogs on the covers are real rescued dogs!
