This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Some chit chat.

I sure enjoyed those three days I had off this week. I spent some time in the pool. Took a few naps. Watched some movies and caught up on some shows. And relaxed, relaxed, relaxed! LOL

Is anyone feeling the HEAT? The heat index got as high as 111 this week. I couldn’t even stay in the pool too long as I was worried about getting fried and the water was actually more warm then cool. Whew, I fear what the summer will bring as it is only the beginning of July!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

My new books this week.

I grabbed this one up after reading Laurie’s review at Horror After Dark.

Sleep in the Dust of the Earth by [Hains, Anthony]

Sometimes they come back angry …

Ace’s life is satisfying in an ordinary sort of way. At twenty-five he’s deeply in love with his wife of two years, and he and Runa are expecting their first child. But when Ace’s mother-in-law passes away after a short illness, things take a turn for the weird.

Everyone in the family knows that Gretchen dabbled in the occult prior to her death, inviting friends over for occasional tarot card readings and séances. What most of them don’t know is that she spent a considerable amount of time training her grandchildren in the art of the uncanny. Now Brinn and Oliver appear to be experimenting with strange rituals—rituals linked to increasingly disturbing events.

To get a handle on what’s happening, Ace and Runa begin investigating Gretchen’s explorations into the supernatural. But it will take time, and a shocking series of developments, for them to discover how high the stakes are for their growing family.

And I came across this freebie on Amazon. Loved the cover and decided to try the author.

Unbound: A Post-Apocalyptic Survival Thriller Series (Dawn of Deception Book 1) by [Shaw, A. R.]

In a post-apocalyptic world, Sloane Delaney struggles to keep her daughters safe. With all her neighbors gone and her abusive second husband dead, Sloane and her daughters, Mae and Wren, maintain a dangerous charade to keep looters at bay from their neighborhood. When young Nicole shows up on their doorstep, nearly dead from dehydration and starvation as a result of her father’s growing paranoia, she joins the determined group as they adjust to life without most of the luxuries they had previously taken for granted. Aided by a pack of abandoned dogs, the women are able to project an image of an occupied and active neighborhood until corrupt FEMA agents arrive on the scene, threatening their hard-won sense of security. Fleeing their now-unsafe home, Sloane and her girls head for the woods and an abandoned old house Sloane is sure will be a safe haven for at least a few days. She doesn’t count on the handsome and helpful Dr. Kent having also taken refuge there. With her girls’ lives on the line, can Sloane learn to trust again in this dangerous new world?

The above cover is the one I own. Here’s the one on Goodreads.

I love your description of your three days off. Sounds wonderful! The summer here has been relatively mild in comparison to past years. Mostly on the high 80’s and low 90’s. It is crazy. Usually we are into the triple digits by now. Not that I’m complaining… I hope you see cooler weather soon. Don’t Drink the Pink! Love that cover and title. ::)

I hope you enjoy all your new books. Looks like you have some good ones there. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I did enjoy my time off and it went by too fast. And my electric bill is jumping up from having the AC run so much!

  2. Greg says:

Wow that’s HOT! Sounds like you had a good week though! Pool time is always great.

I love a good post apoc!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I just hope the pool temp doesn’t get much warmer. I want to cool down, not take a warm bath. LOL

  3. Maureen Bakker says:

Sounds like a good week for you! Relaxing is always great!
Ow boy.. that sounds really damn hot. And I was complaining last week about our temperatures here! LOL! It’s nothing compared to the temperature on your end. But I guess we get used to our ‘normal’.
Have a great week and happy reading!

  4. Beware Of The Reader says:

I am happy you could relax Laura as you deserved it! Now I prefer the Goodreads cover…and the temperature was hot here too but not 111 and by the look of it it is already cooling down. Have a wonderful Sunday!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s around 100 today. Supposed to drop to around 90 by the end of next week as we might get some showers.

  5. I prefer the cover version you own and I liked the sound of that book until the love interest was mentioned! Now I’m really not sure I want to read it! I’m not a fan of apocalypse romance!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ll let you know about the romance part after I read it. I’m hoping it isn’t a big part of the story myself.

  6. 111 heat?! Oh gosh, it’s in the double digits for me and I complain greatly. I can’t imagine triple digits. At least you had days off and enjoyed time out at the pool!

  7. Stormi D Johnson says:

I am curious of Sleep in the Dust of the Earth as it sounds pretty cool. It’s been pretty hot here and heat index was 100 the past few days, we are still getting pop up storms but not as bad as before.

Have a great week and happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s been so hot. Even at night! Supposed to get some afternoon rains this coming week. We’ll see. Sure could use a cool down.

  8. Tammy says:

Dawn of Deception sounds really good, plus I love the fact that there are dogs in the story😁

  9. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

Our summer has just started. While the temperature has just hit three digits but the humidity is the worst. It is already at 40%

  10. It’s always nice ro get to rest, have fun and enjoy life. Swimming, reading, and napping sounds like heaven! Have a great week!

  11. Can I just say that oh my gosh Don’t Drink the Pink looks BEYOND adorable and I’m already smitten with it just based on the cover? So cute. That being said, the heat is WAAAY too much for my sensitive self. I’m already wishing it were autumn. I’m not made for the hot weather!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Wait until you see the illustrations inside the book. So adorable! I try so hard not to complain about the heat as I hate winter and whine about the cold. LOL

  12. I am feeling the heat with the moving. It is just HOT HOT HOT. I took today off from moving things from house to house to try to unpack and put away some stuff here – inside with AC. Have a great week!

    Here is my Sunday Post

  13. Hope you enjoy reading all of your new books, and also that the temperature cools down a little for you this week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s supposed to be low 90s by the end of the week. A few showers will bring temps down but then the humidity goes way up. LOL

  14. I don’t like extremely hot weather. It is not comfortable for individuals rather endowed on top if you get my drift! I had to grab Dawn of Deception if not for the cover alone. And I like the one you own much better than the Goodreads one. Hope you find a way to stay cool!

  15. So glad you were able to get some relaxing time in! I’m always so confused when holidays fall in the middle of the week. I have no idea what day it is! I’m with you on the heat and even more so on the humidity. We’ve been having lots of rain so the temp isn’t actually that high but then you step outside… Hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I keep thinking it’s one day when it’s another too. LOL We haven’t had much rain and I need some so I don’t have to add water to the pool.

  16. Glad you had a nice day off!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

  17. kozbisa says:

The heat has been no joke here, but I am not a big outdoors person, so it’s not the biggest deal. I could do without the rainstorms coming when I am going to work or when I am coming home, but what am I going to do. Glad you had a nice few days off and got some R&R.

    • fuonlyknew says:

The afternoon storms come in from the gulf and the heat makes them some wicked ones. That said, I wouldn’t mind one right now. LOL

  18. Carole says:

I am glad you got some extra time off. I took a day of vacation so that I could have a 4 day weekend and it has been wonderful! It has been crazy hot around here. I am so thankful for our AC! I haven’t even got in our pool yet this year 🙂 Have a great week!

  19. Its been miserable hot here so I can only imagine how hot it is in your neck of the woods! Stay cool!

  20. Liliana says:

Those 3 days you had off sound amazing! I am so jelly 😉 Glad you had a great time though!

Oooh! I spy Ellie Jordan! I had no idea the box set was currently free! Awesome! Everyone, go grab it! Lol.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love the Ellie Jordan series. I read his newsletter and he will be releasing more maybe in the fall!

  21. Dawn of Deception sounds like it is going to be incredible! I love the second cover, but the first one definitely catches my eye as well. 🙂

  22. Sounds like you had a fantastic rest! And thank you, I nabbed the freebie – Ghost Trapper!

Oooh Sleep in the dust of the Earth, sounds fab! Love this first line -> Sometimes they come back angry …

    • fuonlyknew says:

I did! I’m glad you grabbed the Ghost Trapper set. I’ve read all of the books in the series and it is a favorite of mine! And Sleep In The Dust Of The Earth sounded too good to pass up:)

  23. Sherry Fundin says:

i didn’t do a sunday post for the second week in a row. getting caught up on life and other things, but I will return in the next week or two. glad to see you enjoyed your days off!
    sherry @ fundinmental

  24. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend your break, except for the heat of course. Sleep in the Dust of the Earth sounds creepy!

    Have a great reading week

    • fuonlyknew says:

I enjoyed my time off and spent lots of time in the pool:) I plan to read Sleep In The Dust Of The Earth this coming weekend. I love creepy reads!

  25. Rachel @Waves of Fiction says:

It has been hot! It’s bad when you don’t even get relief by hanging out it the pool. It’s not quite that hot for us. I grabbed up the Ghost Trapper 3 book freebie. Thanks for the info! 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

It got hot early this year and promises to get much hotter! I love the Ellie Jordan series. One of my favorites!

  26. Sounds like a perfect week to me! Hope this one is good too.

  27. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

Wow. 111 is really hot! We haven’t had that kind of heat index yet, but I’m sure we’ll get there soon. My husband is going to Vegas next week and the temp is going to be 108. Eek.

    • fuonlyknew says:

We have a bit of a cool down going on right now. Lower 90s as there is a tropical storm in the Gulf and we are feeling some of the effects now.
