My Review

Feast your eyes on the thrilling cover art. I love stories about unstoppable creatures and insurmountable odds. A fellow book lover liked this one so how could I resist it.

I read this about eight months ago and I somehow missed sharing a review. It shows how much fun I had reading it that I still recall things so well. Divers from the Royal Navy come under attack by a swarm of eel like creatures during a diving test. An investigation reveals the creatures were genetically modified to become a new food source and escaped during a storm. Now they are loose, looking for food and they like the taste of human flesh.

The action and suspense starts right out of the gate. The creatures are growing in size, appetite and intelligence. And they’re expanding their hunting grounds to dry land. With deadly creature stories, I’m all about the attacks. I want a lot of them. And this book is chock full of some really harrowing ones.  As the creatures expand their hunting grounds, the US joins with the Royal Navy. It was wild to see how closely the creatures coordinated attacks resembled those of the military trying to combat them. And some of the battles were super gory as both sides tried to destroy the other.

I was able to check off all of the boxes for what I want in a creature horror book with Red Swarm. Awesome sea monsters, courageous and genuine characters and edge of your seat suspense and action. I’ve already grabbed the next book, Black Spawn, and anticipate another thrilling read.
