Genre: Horror

Synopsis

Something strange is happening at the Orsk furniture superstore in Cleveland, Ohio. Every morning, employees arrive to find broken Kjerring bookshelves, shattered Glans water goblets, and smashed Liripip wardrobes. Sales are down, security cameras reveal nothing, and store managers are panicking.

To unravel the mystery, three employees volunteer to work a nine-hour dusk-till-dawn shift. In the dead of the night, they’ll patrol the empty showroom floor, investigate strange sights and sounds, and encounter horrors that defy the imagination.

A traditional haunted house story in a thoroughly contemporary setting, Horrorstör comes packaged in the form of a glossy mail order catalog, complete with product illustrations, a home delivery order form, and a map of Orsk’s labyrinthine showroom.

I added this to my list back in September of 2014. I can’t believe I let it get buried on my shelf and stay there for so long. It’s sitting on my night stand now!

  1. I would have had to read this one right away because the cover is so different. Even the shape of the cover is different. It’s like a coffee table book or a high end magazine.

  2. This one is in my house too, just staring accusingly at me from the bookshelf! I just have so many that I want to read right now!

  3. Tammy says:

Read this right away, Laura! You will LOVE it😁

  4. lots fantasatic. i love that cover…and a bookstor.

  5. Laurie | Bark says:

I’ve had this one for ages and still haven’t read it either!

  6. My IKEA addiction might be cured with this book! Sounds like such an intriguing concept. I hope that you love it when you get the chance to read it. 🙂

  7. Sam@WLABB says:

I remember seeing this one around, when it came out. I like the concept a lot, and love that you would never think this was horror by looking at the cover of the book, well, unless you look closely. It’s really subtle.

  8. Carole says:

I have seen this one around and have been very curious about it. I can’t wait to see what you think of it when you get the chance to read it.

  9. Liliana says:

Oh my gods, I just ordered this one from the library but I’m on the wait list! 😩 It’s funny cause I made the purchase suggestion but I was too late to grab the ebook when they had it available 🤦‍♀️😂 Anyway, it sounds like a lot of fun and I’m very excited to read it when I get my hands on it!

  10. Beware Of The Reader says:

Laura that cover completely contradicts its genre! Horror should not come in sunny yellow LOL

  11. I have a physical copy of this one as well. I’ve read two by the author and enjoyed them (as long as I block out what happened to the dog in My Best Friend’s Exorcism). I had to get this one because of the formatting. Maybe I should dig it out as well.

I remember that scene in the book. I don’t think there will be animals in this one. Just scary good stuff.
