This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Some chit chat.

It’s been another crazy week of work and more work.

I did manage to get in some pool time. Even got a bit of a sunburn. LOL

I also read a few books and actually managed to finish them.

And I finished binging Grey’s Anatomy. Now I’m looking for some more shows to watch. Got any suggestions for me? I’ve been turning to anything that will keep my mind off what is happening to all of us.

I had to take my son to the emergency room in the pre dawn hours on Thursday. They wouldn’t allow me in with him and I sat in my car in the parking lot for hours. He finally came out and it was discovered to be Kidney stones. Since then he has safely passed them and is doing well. It really hit home when I couldn’t go in with him.

Stay safe and take care everyone.

I’m so sorry to hear about the experience you and your son had but very glad of the outcome!

  2. sjhigbee says:

Urg! Kidney stone are agonising… what traumatic experience all round, given that you couldn’t accompany him. I hope he is now recovering and drinking loads and loads. I hope the coming week is a lot less eventful, with more pool time and sunshine – though maybe with sunscreen:))

    • fuonlyknew says:

I knew something was serious when he woke me up and asked to go to the emergency room. He doesn’t normally complain. All better now!

  3. Glad your son is okay now. That must have been scary. I am watching The Good Cop on Netflix. It’s a lighthearted, charming cop show.

  4. Stormi J says:

Glad you got some relaxing pool time! Good to hear your son is okay but that is so not right not letting you in with him. Give you a mask or if you had your own. Enjoy your new reads!!

    Stay safe and happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Not even with a mask was I allowed in. Maybe if they had to do surgery? Who knows. He’s fine now and that was a real opener about how serious things are.

  5. Tammy says:

I’m so sorry to hear about your son, how scary! Glad he’s ok now😁 Have a good week, Laura!

  6. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

I hope your son is feeling better now and I am sorry that you couldn’t accompany him. You have a great week ahead!

  7. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

OMG no Laura!!! That must have been super scary! I am happy all went well in the end but… OK on the show have you watched Lucifer Morning Star? And I am drooling on Elysium Girls! I hope next week will be more relaxed!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It was scary but everything is okay now. I love Lucifer Morning Star. That show cracks me up. I’ll check out Elysium Girls now. Thanks!

  8. I understand kidney stones are very painful and I’m sorry he had them. I’m glad you were able to get outside. I hope the working only 1 job now is going well. Take care of yourself!

Stay safe and have a great week! Happy reading!

Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

    • fuonlyknew says:

I told him now you know what it feels like to give birth. LOL He’s fine now. And I’m sure glad I’m down to one job. It’s keeping me hopping:)

  9. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

Oh no. I’m so sorry to hear your son had to go into the hospital for kidney stones! Those are so painful, I’ve heard. I’m glad he’s on the mend now, and I’m also glad you got some down time this week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

He was in a lot of pain until he passed it. Back to himself now. Thanks:) Had a storm blow through and I’ll be busy outside cleaning up on my day off. There’s the pool to cool off in though! LOL

  10. Sam@WLABB says:

Have you watched Private Practice, the Grey’s spin off starring Addison? I loved that show

  11. yvonne473 says:

I’m so sorry to hear what you went through with your son, but I’m glad he’s okay. Hope this is a good week for you. Take care and stay safe.

  12. Glad your soon is okay. I cannot imagine having to go into the ER alone or having to sit outside and wait while a loved one was in the ER. That’s terrible. Hope you get some more pool time this week!

  13. I’m glad to hear your son is okay. It must have made you feel so helpless not to be able to go in with him at the emergency! Thanks for showcasing the Mimi Matthews Kindle freebie. I love her books!

  14. Literary Feline says:

I am glad your son is feeling better and was able to pass the kidney stones. That is so painful! Pool time sounds nice though. I hope you enjoy your new books. I like the the sound of Penguins and Mortal Peril. I hope you have a better week! Stay safe and well.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s all behind us now but sure was scary. I’m in the mood for some fun cozy reads. Got a bunch. LOL

  15. I hope your son is okay. It does suck that you weren’t able to go into the hospital with him. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I spent hours sitting in my car! So weird and scary. He is fine now and I hope we don’t have to go trough that experience again.

  16. Greg says:

That would be so hard not being able to be in the emergency room with your son! Can’t even imagine. It’s so crazy now. Glad he’s doing okay though.

A sunburn… nice. 🙂 that sounds pretty good right abut now haha. The sun part anyway, maybe not the burn. 🙂

    Have a safe week!

  17. I’m so glad your son is better, it must have been a hard situation for both of you.

If you enjoyed Grey’s Anatomy, I’d suggest the spinoff, Private Practice, or perhaps try the Chicago franchise – Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med.

Wishing you a great reading week and good health

  18. I am a Grey’s Anatomy fan…so do you also watch How To Get Away with Murder? I also love Little Fires Everywhere, on Hulu.

Enjoy your week, and stay safe and well. Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  19. sorry to hear about cole and i know what he went through. glad they passed. i felt something was going on and was going to give you a call…but…you know….

  20. Katherine says:

My grandmother fell right after everything went on lockdown and my mother was allowed to go with her because she has dementia but it took multiple phone calls and discussions to get her back there. I’m sorry to hear your son had kidney stones. My husband gets them occasionally and they seem absolutely brutal. Hope he’s doing okay and staying really hydrated. We’ve been sticking to British crime on Amazon Prime and for the most part are liking them (Unforgotten is the current favorite) but I’m also a fan of all NCIS franchises. I especially appreciate that in NCIS New Orleans it’s actually filmed in New Orleans. I hate when TV shows are supposed to be set in the south but the setting looks nothing like it’s supposed to. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

So sorry about your grandmother. I’ve heard some people are being let in with their family members but it takes time to go through the red tape. I hope she is doing better.

  21. Carole says:

I am sorry that your son had to deal with kidney stones but I am glad that it wasn’t anything more serious. I imagine it was scary not being with him. I am glad he passed the stones. I had a large stone that they blasted that I still haven’t passed. Now instead of 1 stone, I have hundreds and have been dealing with these pieces for years.

I am glad you were able to fit in some pool time and some tv time. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I was so worried about what they might have to do. I had a good idea it was kidney stones and knew that some were more complicated to deal with.

  22. Oh man, your poor son. The good thing is that he passed them ok. I heard it can be pretty painful. This virus is taking its toll mentally on most of us. I just wish I could up my reading to take my mind off everything but reading is a struggle at the moment. I am getting some TV watched which is a good thing. Stay safe and best wishes to your son.

  23. I am jealous of a sunburn! lol I am glad that you got to relax a bit. Tales from the Loop is one that we just started watching on Amazon and it is a really cool sci-fi if you have access to it. 😉
