Some chit chat.

I want to thank everyone for their kind support about the loss of my sweet boy, Quigley. I sure do miss that rascal. I swore that once he was gone I wouldn’t get another dog. I’ve had several dogs in my life over the past 40 some years and felt it was time to be without the responsibility. Then, my son’s therapist told me it would be very helpful for him to have a service dog. The sooner the better. I discussed it with my son and we are on board for the idea. Just not yet. It’s still too soon. When it’s time, we will work with my veterinarian to find the right dog.

It’s going to be crazy next week and you can tell it by all the people flocking into the store for supplies. We have two tropical storms brewing and their projected paths bring them into the Gulf of Mexico next week. On the same day! But in two different strike zones. One is headed more towards Texas and the other one has us right in the middle of the cone. It’s still early as the storms aren’t expected to hit until around late Tuesday or early Wednesday. I’m waiting to see how things develop before I do anything like batten down the hatches. LOL Got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that it won’t come here.

UPDATE

I went and checked for new updates and it looks like Tropical Storm Laura, yes, it’s named after me LOL, has shifted more to the west and that takes it to New Orleans. I’m sorry for them but feeling better about it not coming right at us. We are on the east side of the storm though and that’s usually where things are at their strongest. I’m going to keep a close eye on this storm as it can change quickly the closer it gets.

Stay safe and take care!

Laura I will cross my fingers and pray the storm spares you! I don’t know how you all people do it with storms always coming back at certain period of the year. The last Rebecca Yarros that I have read due to release next week has a coast guard and storms are also happening.
Now about the dog…I don’t know what the situation with your son is as you don’t speak about it in details but from what I gathered he seems to have difficulties with people and being at ease with others so I can see why a service dog could help. Dogs are amazing creatures and now that I am homeworking for months now , when I feel stressed in the day,vI just have to pet him and I feel better already! Have a great Sunday and stay safe.

  2. Greg says:

I hope you find just the right dog for your son’s needs at the right time. It is hard to get a new one after losing a beloved friend like that, but when the time is right I’m sure you guys will have another new amazing friend. And good luck with the storm! I hope it stays clear of you guys and you don’t get much effect from it.

    Be well this week!

  3. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your faithful, furry friend – They really are members of the family, aren’t they? I hope you are able to find just the right service dog for your son and family. I also hope you won’t be too badly affected by the coming storms. Take care, stay safe and happy reading! 🙂

  4. Sam@WLABB says:

Hurricane season is so stressful, especially you all in gulf states. I hope the season is kind to you.

  5. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

I am glad you decided you would get another pet. I hope you are staying safe with the hurricanes all through this season!

  6. Polly says:

Ohhh I’ve been seeing Semiosis a lot and it seems interesting! 😍

  7. sjhigbee says:

Oh – I do hope the storm misses you, Laura! Let’s take the fact it’s named after you as a GOOD sign… And I completely understand your wish to wait before finding another dog. I hope the coming week is peaceful and safe.

  8. Tammy says:

Good luck with the storms, Laura! Its so stressful to hear about all the things happening in other states. Stay safe😁

  9. yvonne473 says:

I do hope no one gets hit with these storms. I hope they go out to sea. Have a great week (and I’m keeping my fingers crossed you get no effects of the storms).

  10. Northwoman says:

I hope you are safe with all the storms this week. I know how you feel about the pet and hope your next one turns out as great as ours did. I wouldn’t have believed how much Lulu means to us.

Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

  11. Stay safe! Two storms at the same time is too much! Hopefully they weaken before landfall!

  12. Please stay safe, fingers crossed the storm doesn’t do any damage.

  13. I’m sorry about the loss of Quigley
Hopefully the storms will be weaker than predicted. Honestly 2020 is just piling it on!

Wishing you a great reading week, stay safe

  14. Berls says:

I hope the storms don’t hit you to hard – good to know one has moved away from y’all a bit.

A service dog will be different than a pet, though, right? I’ll be curious to see how that goes for y’all. I definitely understand it being too soon.

Have a great week and stay safe!

  15. I’m so sorry about your darling dog, Laura. It’s really hard to lose them, and it’s fine to take time to grieve. We lost our last kitty almost 2 years ago, and it took over a year to be ready for another. (And then decided to wait until after we got some work done on the house, and then COVID hit and the work got put off… )

I hope both storms miss you, though I certainly don’t wish them on Louisiana, either. 2020 has thrown far too much at everyone already. Good luck, and stay safe.

  16. the bookworm says:

I’m sorry about Quigley, it’s hard losing a beloved pet, they become family.
Stay safe and hope the storm passes by. We had Isaias pass here a few week backs and lost power and internet for 3 days.
    Enjoy your books this week!

  17. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

Yikes! I was wondering if you’d be hit with these storms. I really hope y’all will be okay. I’ll be thinking of you!

  18. that is so cool that cole qualifies for a service dog. stay safe and take care laura

  19. Rachel @Waves of Fiction says:

It’s so hard to lose a beloved pet! I can understand why you’d want to wait a bit. Hope you end up getting a nice match in the future.

Glad to hear the storms will miss you. Mother nature is really pounding the crap out of all of us, right?

  20. Lola says:

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. It’s so hard losing a pet. I hope you can find a good dog in the future for your son. I can understand how you want to wait a bit first.

  21. A service dog is certainly a good idea. Nothing will replace a beloved hound but finding room in your heart for another will be a great thing.
