Welcome to The Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice.
This is a really fun meme!
The only rules are to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader and find a sentence or a few (no spoilers) that grabs you and post it.
Then go over to Freda’s Voice and leave your link so we can visit your 56!

“Mom?”
“What?”
“Do you think memory is a blessing or a curse?”
She didn’t have to think about it; God only knew what she was remembering. “Both, dear.”

Synopsis
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis’s parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there’s no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents—telekinesis and telepathy—who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and ten-year-old Avery Dixon. They are all in Front Half. Others, Luke learns, graduated to Back Half, “like the roach motel,” Kalisha says. “You check in, but you don’t check out.”
In this most sinister of institutions, the director, Mrs. Sigsby, and her staff are ruthlessly dedicated to extracting from these children the force of their extranormal gifts. There are no scruples here. If you go along, you get tokens for the vending machines. If you don’t, punishment is brutal. As each new victim disappears to Back Half, Luke becomes more and more desperate to get out and get help. But no one has ever escaped from the Institute.

I’ve heard such good things about this book, i need to read it😁
I tore through it!
Stephen King writes too fast. I’m trying to read all of his work, but I can’t keep up. I’ll get to this one someday.
It was a good one. I’ve read almost all of his books.
i’m on the library waiting list for this one
sherry @ fundinmental
I think you’ll like it. It sure is out there.
One I still need to read!!! Happy weekend!!
I have to add it this to my list. Sounds like a great Stephen King book.
I’ve seen this book around but haven’t read it. It seems like an interesting story.
I have read one Stephen King but and that was a novella and I loved it! The page count on his books always tend to scare me off though. I do love the sound of this one!
I honestly can’t remember the last Stephen King book I finished reading-it might be as far back as Cell! I seem to DNF a lot of them as I’m getting bored waiting for some kind of interesting thing to happen! His work is just too slow burning for me now!
