Some chit chat.

It’s not often that I use this word, but surreal was what 2020 was. The pandemic disrupted my life in ways I’d not even thought of and if you had asked me if I’d ever neglect books and my blog I would have shouted hell no!  But that’s what happened. I started my blog in 2008 and made it a point to have some type of post published every day. Last year has was a struggle and I had days where I posted nothing and wrote so few reviews. It doesn’t look like things will be changing for some time yet out there in the world. My resolution for 2021 is to get back to basics and start having fun with my blog again!

Stay safe and I hope you had a Happy New Year!

I hope you are able to find that “normalcy” again, even if it’s just with your reading/blogging live. I am going to be optimistic about this year, and hope we all learned what we need to do to move forward. Happy new year!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m curious how the new year will go. I know it won’t change overnight, but maybe in the next few months? Fingers crossed:)

  2. Carole says:

I think that you have to have fun with blogging or it becomes to much of a chore. There is nothing wrong with taking a break when you need one and I think we all needed one in 2020. I hope you have a great week, Laura!

  3. I hope you will find a balance and things will slack off a bit for you so you can get back to doing something you love, like blogging! We miss your reviews but we all get how hard it’s been! Hope 2021 turns out better!

Have a great week and happy reading!

I at least want to get started immediately at visiting other bloggers. Hopefully I can sort out a way to better manage my time. Work is still nuts!

  4. Tammy says:

I agree, this was a surreal year. And although 2021 has promise to get back to normal, it won’t happen overnight. Sounds like you have a good outlook to just have fun with blogging😁

  5. sjhigbee says:

I think the word ‘surreal’ really nicely sums up 2020 – and I agree that the consequences it has caused have been horrible in all sorts of ways we couldn’t have foreseen. I do hope you get a chance to reconnect to the joy your blog has brought you in the past, Laura – and have a lovely, peaceful week:)

    • fuonlyknew says:

I used to get so excited when writing reviews and commenting on posts. Now I struggle to get on the computer. I will find my happy place:)

  6. Happy New Year!! I think we all are hoping for some positivity in 2021-even if we are still dealing with the issues of 2020!

  7. yvonne473 says:

Happy New Year! We started our blogs at the same time – 2008. I’m hoping for some normalcy again too. Hope you have a great week!

  8. limabean74 says:

I think we all were waiting for things to go back to normal that we neglected everything that was happening around us. I also sort of gave up and waited but I think I am just going to keep doing my thing regardless of what is going on in the world and will adjust as needed. 🙂

I hope you have a great week, Laura! Happy Reading!

  9. We all need breaks and time to relax. This isn’t forever, but I think many believed it would just be a few weeks and everything would be normal which didn’t happen. I found it a great time for change and new ideas and I really got into my reading. Baby steps. The first thing is to read things you love! Happy New Year Laura!

  10. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

I know you struggled Laura but honestly you still posted so often! I nearly didn’t post anymore, December aside because that year has been so hard! So I’d say you did a great job. Anyway, having fun is indeed the purpose of everything. Have a great week.

  11. Greg says:

I posted less and my reviewing was way down in 2020. I’m hoping to get some mojo back as well this year. Hope you had a nice New Years!!!!

  12. i know what you mean laura. it has been a struggle for me too. it sounds like we are all pretty much in the same boat. i have been reading like crazy though.

  13. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

Happy New Year! Like you, I hope this year is a heck of a lot better than 2020.

  14. This has definitely been a surreal year, Laura! I hope that 2021 is a good one for all of us!!

  15. Berls says:

I couldn’t agree more, what a year. I have so much hope for 2021!

  16. I think it was a year that none of us will look back fondly on Laura. I’m just relieved that you were able to stay safe in your job. You worked damn hard and in difficult circumstances so well done you! I think too many people are thinking that the vaccine is a cure and everything will be great but I fear more trouble ahead sadly. Stay safe and lets hope for good books this year!
