This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

I’m so happy this week is behind me. It’s been freezing. In my job, I work outside and have had to start late each day while waiting for it to warm up enough to actually work. That left me cold and tired so my blogging suffered for it. I only reviewed one book this week! But never fear, I have a bunch ready for next week. And the weather is back to 60s and 70s finally!  Doing my happy dance. LOL

Frank J. Edler
My mother was an alien and my father was a lamp post. I was fed a steady dose of soap bars as a child as punishment for my foul mouth and incessant pranks. Little did anyone know the soap only made me stronger, faster, more agile. My brain filled with bubbles that were 99.9% pure. It was an amazing time. I left the city and moved out to the country where I heard tell there is an amazing banana bread store. I never found it, but I did find love. I loved that tuna sandwich like no other and we were married on the Fourth of July, just like Tom Cruise in that one movie about said date. It was a magical time but alas was not meant to be. I ate it. I tried to move
on, writing books and sharing them with the local townsfolk. They would tell me to shut up and make sure I flushed before I left. Never once did I wash my hands like the signs demanded. So here I am, dirty
handed and telling my tales. Wanna hear one?

Tom Clark is a writer, and a veteran internet journalist and podcast producer. His work has been seen in websites such as This is Infamous and Rue Morgue, among other freelance outlets. He currently produces podcasts at Project Entertainment Network, including his shows: the long running heavy metal and horror themed the Necrocasticon, and the Curtain Jerkers, a comedic take on pro wrestling podcasting. Tom’s debut novella, “Good Boy” will be self published and available through all your
digital reading outlets in 2018. Tom and his wife live in the wilds of upstate New York, cohabiting with a pair of Jack Russell Terriers and their pet rabbit.

BRIAN KEENE is the author of over forty books, mostly in the horror, crime, and dark fantasy genres. His 2003 novel, The Rising, is often credited (along with Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comic and Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later film) with inspiring pop culture’s current interest in zombies. Keene’s novels have been translated into German, Spanish, Polish, Italian, French, Taiwanese, and many more. In addition to his own original work, Keene has written for media properties such as Doctor Who, The X-Files, Hellboy, Masters of the Universe, and Superman.Several of Keene’s novels have been developed for film, including Ghoul, The Ties That Bind, and Fast Zombies Suck. Several more are in-development or under option.

Keene’s work has been praised in such diverse places as The New York Times, The History Channel, The Howard Stern Show, CNN.com, Publisher’s Weekly, Media Bistro, Fangoria Magazine, and Rue Morgue Magazine. He has won numerous awards and honors, including a World Horror Grand Master award, two Bram Stoker awards, and a recognition from Whiteman A.F.B. (home of the B-2 Stealth Bomber) for his outreach to U.S. troops serving both overseas and abroad. It is something else, something he can’t quite put his finger on,
something he doesn’t understand.
Then his partner disappears, leaving Tony alone as the world begins to
unravel. As the body count rises Tony must scramble to adapt to this
new supernatural world. A supernatural world that wants nothing to do

Hollownton Outsiders
Anthony Hollownton Series Book 2

Life was finally getting back to normal…almost
Two months ago homicide detective Anthony Hollownton was forcibly
thrown into the supernatural world.
A world that has been eerily silent ever since.
His partner is back but will never be the same. Talking about seeing
things Tony knows are real.
At least it is the Fourth of July and patrolling the festivities should
be a cake walk.
Wrong.
A mutilated body is stumbled upon and now it is all Tony can do not to
jump to supernatural conclusions. Is his jarring previous case making
him paranoid or is there more to this murder than meets the eye?

Badass Princess meets Rookie Criminal Investigator…

Two different worlds – one unique connection – a whole lot of madness.

After being held prisoner most of her life, Makoto Heart is now free and currently staying in Realm Five, Minato. Having no interactions with humans, she prays to the Starlight gods that everything goes smoothly – especially with a certain orange haired female and her group of criminal investigators.

Scarlet Sinclair has only had one real friend her entire adult life – which is one more than she had as a child – because no one wants to be friends with the crazy girl who fainted all the time and wore gloves year-round. When she finds out Junho’s friend Marcus is returning to Earthala and bringing with him his friends and one very special blue-eyed brunette, she’s intrigued.

None of them could have ever expected the car chases, mall fights, or sleepwalking adventures that would follow. Makoto and Scarlett are in for an eventful five days as their worlds clash on Earthala soil.

Enjoy this glimpse inside

“We’re…in public.”

“We’re in a private section, Firefly.” He countered, lifting up to stare into my eyes. I lowered my eyes to his lips, licking my own. He lowered his head, reading to kiss me again when he flinched.

“Mother fucker.” He swore under his breath, turning his head. I gave him a confused look, following his gaze to see Elias chilling on the dock, his legs swinging back forth with a wide grin on his face.

“Hey, Mako. You forgot your sunscreen at home. I thought I’d come and bring it to you,” Elias called out, his grin only growing wider. He waved the unfamiliar tube in his hand.

“Sun…screen?” I blinked, my cheeks feeling hot.

He totally did that on purpose,” Lexi mumbled, sounding utterly disappointed.

Marcus groaned, his eyes glowing a bright blue.

I watched the waves near the doc sway back and forth until one large wave formed and crashed into Elias. I tried to hold the set of laughter that threatened to leave my throat, my shoulders beginning to shake as I watched Elias blink, spewing out a stream of water.

I lost it, laughing my head off at his drenched appearance, his gold locks stuck to his face.

“Marcus! Why did you…hehehehe…do that?” I asked, trying to calm the laughter assaulting me.

“Serves him right. Always interrupting me and shit.” He mumbled.

“I’m not cooking for you tonight,” Elias threatened.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

It’s a new year and I’m hoping the rest of it is better than the start. These frigid temps are crazy. I know many may laugh at our dips into the 20s, but, if you’re not used to it, it’s horrible. Enough already! I can’t recall ever having a winter vortex last this long. I miss warm salty breezes, birds singing, flip flops and the pool. If I got in now, I’d probably die of shock. LOL

Remember this photo from last week? How beautiful and green this was?

20171230_110714

Well, after temps in the low 20s every night this week, it now looks like this. But, it will bounce back in the spring and probably be even larger.

20180103_121641

My banana trees got frozen. For those who don’t know, the trees are filled with water so they freeze easily. While these look dead now, once I trim them back in a couple of months they will grow quickly and hopefully I will get some bananas again this year. I’m thinking of doing a running feature about the process once I get started.

20180103_121744

The oranges are hanging in there. I’ve noticed the branches are dipping closer to the ground and I’m afraid they might have frozen. I’ll pick some and check them out this week.

20180103_121722

That’s it for this week. I hope you had a Happy New Year!
