Altered Souls excerpt.
As our lips met, the search for our security began. Neither of us wanted to believe that we could lose this. Running my fingers through his hair, I gripped his neck with my other hand. I didn’t want this closeness to end. The firmness of his body stretched along mine as he lifted me into his arms. I wrapped my legs around his waist, not wanting to detach from his kisses as they led away from my mouth down my neck. Feeling his breath dance across my skin as he kissed my collarbone brought a shivery delight to my senses. The softness of his lips was such a contrast to the firmness of his grasp as he guided his hands down my back.
He spun around, pinning me up against the tree with his weight, as I let my mind wander to what might be waiting for me next. My breathing got faster with each second of anticipation. He slowly brought my chin up and his lips began exploring mine once more. With every kiss, his mouth pressed harder along mine, and my heart exploded with curiosity. I let my hands find their way back to his neck up to his hair, twisting and pulling him closer to me with all of my strength.
He pulled away slightly, and I opened my eyes to see him searching my expression for something. For what, I wasn’t sure.
“I don’t ever want to lose you, Triss.” Logan shook his head. “I couldn’t—”
“Shh.” I placed my index finger to his lips. “You won’t.”
My hand trailed down his chest to the first button that I attempted to unfasten.

It’s two weeks before Triss turns 18, and her world is about to change into the most magical one imaginable as she readies herself to enter The Witch Avenue Order… that is until her mother’s disappearance. Instead of celebrating her transformation, she finds herself spreading rose petals into her mother’s empty grave.
When Logan, her best friend from junior high, moves back to town for college, he vows to help her find the answers she so desperately seeks surrounding her mother’s disappearance. As they begin uncovering clues, it becomes apparent that the life of white magic they both grew up loving is not what the majority practices, and their lives are in danger.
With a haunting feeling that her mother may still be alive, she begins to hear a call to the wilderness. Triss realizes that in order to find the answers she needs, she must learn the ways of her ancestors and become the hunter, not the hunted before it’s too late, and she becomes part of the lonely souls.
About the author:

She enjoys writing, and she also loves to read just about anything with print.

I love witchy stories… I will have to read them! Thanks, Emily
I do too! Looking forward to these!
Series are great because you can feel like you have a relationship with the characters. Thanks Laura.
Like meeting up with old friends, eh?
I love series because they go on forever! Never have to leave the characters! Okay, all series come to an end (except Preston & Child’s Pendergast series, of which I’m reading the just-published newest, and is at 13, I think). But series gives the characters time to develop and evolve. I write series more than I do stand-alone; I just prefer ’em. So do the characters:)
I LOVE Pendergast. What’s the new one called?
I feel like I’m coming home when I get a new book in a series. It’s like they are waiting for me.
“Two Graves,” published Tuesday, I got it the next day (yesterday), been reading ever since. Just incredible.
Rings a bell now that I know the title. Have to get it. Just won a gift card and now I know what I’ll use it for. I have all of the books, most of them in hard copies! Thanks so much.
I love reading series! Series allow to really fall into the world of the characters. Thanks for the giveaway! I’ve not read this series yet. But it sounds wonderful.

I’m looking forward to these too. There are several series I’ve been reading for years and try to rush out and get the new addition as soon as I can.
With series you get to learn about the character and the many facets of their personalities. How much they change throughout each issue they come across.

I know what you mean. I feel like we grow and change together. A really good series has the characters maturing and getting older just like us as we follow along.
Hey Laura, thanks for another great giveaway. 🙂 I love knowing that when I finish a book and am left wanting more that eventually that void will be filled. Although I’m not a fan of series that seem to go on forever. Sometimes you just have to know when to quit.

You’re welcome:) I know what you mean about when to end it. There are just a couple that I finally stopped following. Too many new ones to read!
I love a series read b/c the story keep moving and evolving in ways that my imagination may not have thought. Plus the reader is able to hold onto the characters for a bit longer. We all know that what we read becomes a part of us – an extension of our own imaginings. Who wants to let that go, ya know?! :o)

I’m looking forward to this series. Karice is a wonderful writer.
Love the cover. Count me in please 🙂
She does have great cover art!
I love a good series mostly because of the characters. So many times while reading I don’t want a book to end because I want to keep hanging out with the characters, lol! It’s cool to see them learn from past mistakes and grow into their own person. 😀

That’s the way I feel too!
I love reading series because I love falling in love with characters, or certain settings, families and riding with them over and over. I watch a lot of tv, I’m a loyal watcher, don’t really like too much change once I get comfortable with a specific character….I’m ride or die season after season so to me…book series are the same!
I’m that way too. Especially with TV shows. I can’t adjust when a character I love leaves the show. It spoils it for me.

I love the cover art too. Glad she kept to the same theme. I’m looking forward to reading these also.
I love series because you get to move with the characters. You get attached to the characters in a book and a series gives you the opportunity to grow with them.
Like seeing old friends:) A well written series makes you miss the characters and makes you happy and excited when you meet them again
I love series because I get to revisit my fav characters and watch them grow. autumnflower6ATaolDOTcom

It’s like seeing old friends again.
My mom said once that it was sad to end a book because it felt like losing a friend. With a series, you continue to another adventure with the same friends.
Exactly! That’s why I love a series.
I don’t n is much about the series except what the excerpt states. I love reading and enjoy supernatural type books so that is what I will enjoy about them 🙂
*know
I love a series, just don’t like waiting too long in between releases!
Thanks for the opportunity to participate. I love series because you get to know characters really well and longer stories can be developed over time. You also anticipate events and can’t help but wonder where the story will go. The evolution of characters over time and the stories can be quite thrilling…
Good luck!
