My 56 for this week is from
Eating Sarah
by Jaret Martens
My 56
To save myself, I would have to sacrifice him.
~~~
Synopsis
Ever since childhood, all Sarah wanted was to participate in the Hunt—a monthly ritual in which her people sneak into a nearby city to gather food. Only in Sarah’s world, that food is human.
After her first Hunt ends in catastrophe, Sarah is forced to prepare their captives for slaughter. While this once would have been an easy task, recent events have caused Sarah to question whether or not she’s still capable of murder. Worse, she finds herself caring for Troy: a captive she knows she will be forced to kill.
But she can’t leave. Doing so would mean the deaths of both Troy and her family. With cannibals turning up dead—and suspicions of mutiny rising—Sarah and her family must be more careful than ever.
Yet there’s something not quite right about her family . . . Something that might just get her killed.
This is such an odd story. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving it. It’s just I’m liking these cannibals, a lot!
Who woulda thunk it? LOL
Thanks so much for visiting fuonlyknew.
Leave your link and I’ll drop by your 56!
This sounds intense. Great teaser.
It’s actually quite different from what I expected. A pleasant surprise.
OMG, this sounds fantastic. As soon as I saw the title I busted out laughing. I don’t know whether to feel bad for Sarah and feel she deserves whatever happens to her and more. LOL
sherry @ fundinmental
It cracked me up too. Have you taken a close look at the cover art? It’s funny too. I’m eating this one up. LOL There’s a lot going on and the story goes a way I didn’t expect.
Huh, that’s an interesting blurb. I’m not sure that I’d read this one.
It’s a bit gritty in the beginning. Then the intrigue begins. I’m happy to say it surprises me.
That is an off the rails tail. So interesting. Lots of love, Emily
Off the rails and then some Emily!
Ick. This doesn’t appeal to me at all. Or maybe I’m missing the dark humor.
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog today.
Sandy @Texas Twang
Nope, not really missing the dark humor Sandra. It’s not for everyone, but the story has some mystery and changes it’s tone as I read further.
This sounds unsavory…but also kind of intriguing. Happy reading.
My Friday 56
LOL. Unsavory is good. There is some mystery and intrigue. Much more than eat or be eaten.
This sounds good, but that title..oh my lord:)
It’s quite good. The title is what first grabbed my attention, then that cover art made me laugh. I’m enjoying this one.
This book sounds really interesting. Happy Friday!
It’s more than I was expecting, in a good way! Happy Friday to you too:)
Very unusual…not sure if it’s for me.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
You need a strong stomach in the beginning.LOL Then it gets interestin in a different way.
This is probably way too dark for me, but I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
My Friday memes
Yeah, it’s dark. There’s also a different side, some intrigue and mystery.
I think I’ll pass on this one…LOL. Thanks for sharing, though, and for visiting my blog.
This isn’t for everyone. I’m drawn to darker readers. Always have been. The surprise in this book is the way I felt for some of the characters. There’s a mystery here too.
That’s quite a 56! I want to hear what happens but I’m not sure I can get past the cannibalism to actually read the book! This is one I want Cliff Notes for!
LOL I’ll be reviewing it in October. I think you’ll be surprised by this one.
With the cover and 56 I’m thinking cannibalism… and ew. LOL
Happy weekend!
Yep and yep to eww! But I actually got some grins out of that aspect and I like some of the characters. Morbid me! Then the author takes me somewhere else and this is proving to be about much more.
Woah! That sounds crazy intense! I hope no one got sacrificed….really! I just read a book with cannibalism and was quite disturbed…and the content was mellow too! Ha ha! Speaking of cannibalism, Walking Dead is almost here! Woo Hoo! XD
The beginning caught me by surprise, then the story took a most intiguing turn. Walking Dead can’t get here soon enough, except I don’t want summer to end yet!
You must live in an area where your summers are not in the 100+ degree weather Laura! I’m so done with this heat 0_o
Yikes! I don’t know if I could read about cannibal characters! 😀 Anyways, thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂
It’s a tough beginning, but I got passed it. LOL
Yikes! I don’t know if I could read about cannibal characters! 😀 Anyways, thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂
Book Maniac Reviews
It’s not for the weak stomach. Especially in the beginning!
I don’t blame you. I’ve always liked horror and this even got to me a bit.
“there’s something not quite right about her family” you think? hahahaha
I’m not sure whether I want to read this book or hope I never come across it, but it’s definitely an interesting choice! 😀
And that’s not even talking about being cannibals!
This is the first time I’ve heard of this book, but what a crazy synopsis! I’m sure that’s an intense book. I’m not sure I’ve read much about cannibals in YA, but I recently watched a movie with cannibals as the main characters and it was a little tough to swallow… so to speak.
Like your pun. LOL It’s rough for a bit but then the real story emerges.
No this is a foodie read I need to get on my TBR STAT 😉
Yep, we’re on the menu. LOL
Cannibals ? I didn’t expect that, I don’t know what to think of that book so I’ll just wait and read your review lol 😉
I’ll be reviewing it in October. Having fun photo shopping for pics!
Disturbing considering my daughter’s name is Sarah; but other than that it’s intriguing.
Thanks for visiting my blog on Friday.
Someone else mentioned having the name Sarah. Good thing this is fiction! Now I’m curious how the author chose that name.
