Welcome to The Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice.
This is a really fun meme!
The only rules are to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader and find a sentence or a few (no spoilers) that grabs you and post it.
Then go over to Freda’s Voice and leave your link so we can visit your 56!

My 56 for this week is from
Torn
Fire Born #2
by Laney McMann
My 56
The dull ache in my skull throbbed and threw me off balance, reminding me of the like concussion I’d suffered. My wrists remained bound by ropes behind my back; I was positive the right one was broken given the pain in it.
~~~
I won this in a giveaway and started reading it to see what it was about. I was soon hooked and am really enjoying it. I haven’t read the first book but am having no difficulty jumping into this series.
~~~
Synopsis
Find Max.
That’s all Layla cares about. Not healing from the Fomore attack. Not finding answers to how she survived a fall that nearly killed her. Nothing will stop her. She will find him. She’ll even pair up with an overbearing Fallen Angel who’s hell bent on making everything harder than it needs to be if she has to.
Protect Layla.
For Max, nothing else matters. Not the bruises covering his body. Not the pain radiating from his broken bones. Not even his hands tied behind his back. He will find a way to save Layla, and the Fomore will pay if they’ve hurt her.
Every. Single. One of them.
In the second installment of The Fire Born trilogy, a new breed of villain looms—one Layla and Max will never suspect, and this killer has nothing to lose. Better yet, with Max and Layla’s deaths, victory is in the grip of the enemy.
Will Max and Layla find each other in time, or is it already too late for them both?

Leave your link and I’ll drop by your 56.
I love the spooky cover and the book sounds like a great read. Glad to have you back!
I’m really enjoying it. I was worried about it being the second book but I’ve had no trouble reading this first. I will go back and get the first one though.
That cover is spectacular, I agree! The writing and the plot is great too, Sherry.
Forgot to leave me link in case anyone wants to stop by.

I’m going to have to read this trilogy! Thanks for sharing!
I’m enjoying it and had to go get the first book. I’m sure I’ll grab that next one soon too.
Sounds exciting enough to start reading at page 56! haha. I don’t know what’s going on but I wouldn’t want to switch places with that character. glad it seems like you are enjoying it. happy reading! Also, that cover is quite fantastic.

It’s a super fast read. I’m almost finished and I just started it. Or maybe I’m reading it so fast because I’m enjoying it that much. LOL
Sounds like a suspenseful story. The cover definitely paints a picture. Stunning.
My Friday post features a legal thriller: BODILY HARM.
The story inside is as good as the cover art. I’m happily surprised:)
This one looks exciting and intense…thanks for sharing! And thanks for visiting my blog.
I was thrilled to win it. I’d not read this author before and I’m enjoying her writing.
– Laura, I’m so glad to see you back in the community! I missed seeing you around!
– This prose sounds similar to Angelfall! I couldn’t help but to think of Penryn, have you read that series? You would love it! It has a Walking Dead feel to it. By the way, how are you enjoying this season? Isn’t it great!?
Thanks Claudia. I’ve missed everyone so much.
I’ll check out Angelfall. Don’t know how I could have missed it with my thing for the apocalypse and zombies.
I’m loving this season. I have so many questions and not enough answers though. LOL Who’s with Daryl in the woods? Is Carol really hurt that bad or is she faking it? And what the ! happened with Eugene. I wanted to pound him into dust. He’s lucky he’s still alive. Can’t wait for Sunday! Only 2 episodes left and then it’s the long wait for February.
This sounds exciting and I love the cover. I’m going to have to check out the first book in the series.
After only a few chapters, I knew I had to go get the first book. It’s nice that I can enjoy this one first though. Just enough filler but not so much you get slowed down by the back story.
Congrats on winning the book! It’s not a series or author I’m familiar with. I have to wonder how they hurt themselves…
Happy weekend!
Thanks Freda. I only enter to win books when I think I’d really enjoy them. This is a winner!
Sounds good. I haven’t heard of this series before. Happy reading!
A new author and series for me too. I’m glad I discover this.
That cover is very spooky and looks spectacular! I sometimes pick books by their covers and I think I would look into this series merely by the covers!
I’m like that sometimes too. Most of the time, like this one, I get a great story and a new author to follow:)
Interesting, thanks for sharing! 😀
This cover is sooooo creepy. I’m definitely going to have to check this out!
Wow, the cover art is so dramatic. The snippet sounds like there was some rough drama going on. I suspect this is a great read!
The cover is seriously spooky and that’s an intense 56! It definitely sounds like someone (Layla?) is in serious trouble!
This really sounds like an exciting book. Enjoy!
Very intriguing 56, love the spooky cover! Thanks for sharing.
Looks like an interesting read!
I have the two books in this series and hopefully will be reading them soon. My review for this one is late already. >.< I'm so excited to read them. Love those covers! If my wrist was broken, I'd totally cry. Not to mention the fact her hands are tied behind her with rope! Eep! :'( I cried when I broke my ankle a couple summers ago. Totally and completely.
I love this cover, thanks for dropping by.
This description of pain sounds intriguing, I always like books in series that dont make you feel like you have to reeread the first novel before it, so thats good you can get into it. Thanks for dropping by my blog!!
