“I love you too.” His throat thickened; he couldn’t remember the last time he said those words to his son. He lifted his arm full of tubes and pulled Ethan closer. “We’re going to be fine.”

Synopsis
Former FBI agent Jack McBride took the job as Chief of Police for Stillwater, Texas, to start a new life with his teenage son, Ethan, away from the suspicions that surrounded his wife’s disappearance a year earlier.
With a low crime rate and a five-man police force, he expected it to be a nice, easy gig; hot checks, traffic violations, some drugs, occasional domestic disturbances, and petty theft. Instead, within a week he is investigating a staged murder-suicide, uncovering a decades’ old skeleton buried in the woods, and managing the first crime wave in thirty years.
For help navigating his unfamiliar, small-town surroundings, Jack turns to Ellie Martin, one of the most respected women in town—her scandal-filled past notwithstanding. Despite Jack’s murky marriage status and the disapproval of Ethan and the town, they are immediately drawn to each other.
As Jack and Ellie struggle with their budding relationship, they unearth shattering secrets long buried and discover the two cases Jack is working, though fifty years apart, share a surprising connection that will rattle the town to its core.

I’m reading two books with covers that are reversible! Odd coincidence.
This sounds good. But the cover messed with my vertigo. 😉
Messing with mine too!
Interesting teaser! Hope you enjoyed it!

Friday Memes
I am so far, Stormi.
I love the cover and small towns are never quite as peaceful as they expect it to me! The 56 has me wondering what’s going on. I’ll have to look for it.
This appealed to me because I live in a small town and am always surprised by things that happen here.
This sounds like a good one. I’ll have to add it to my list. I’m spotlighting Screwball by Linda Morris this week. Happy reading!
Only about 1/4 through but enjoying it so far.
Sad 56. Choked me up. Love the cover.
Adding to my GR!
Happy weekend!

It’s a sweet scene. There was more to it but I was afraid of spoilers.
This sounds like an interesting read. Thanks for visiting my blog.
It’s interesting and keeping me turning the pages:)
Hi,
Your book sounds interesting, I”ll have to check it out. Thanks for stopping by my place. I love Queen Ann’s Lace flowers. I also think of them as flowers, although they are considered “weeds”. Have a great day!
I’m enjoying it and the characters a lot. I love those flowers. Wish some grew in my back yard!
Love the cover art and the positive #56, ‘We’re going to be fine.’ I’m actually playing a jazz duet with some students called, “Still Waters.”… Small world!
Sure is a small world! I enjoyed sharing something tender for a change. I usually shock! LOL
Love the cover!
So do I! I keep flipping the book over to look at it. It has a meaning.
This one does sound good! Love that cover, too.
Good story and cover, for sure:)
I love the cover. It really blows my mind. I am late on my comments because yesterday I spent at the emergency room for dogs.
