Some chit chat.

Not much new happened in my life this week. Just lots of work. It’s been so hot and humid here. I work outside, detailing cars, and the heat just wore me down. I came home from work Friday and decided to take a nap. I went in my bedroom since my dog, Quigley, had taken up the couch. LOL

Quigley and new books 010

I laid down at 4 P.M. and woke up at 8 P.M. I slept the sleep of the dead and never even changed position! That’s how wiped out I was.

I do look forward to an easing of the temperature but don’t want to give up my swimming. So, Fall, please hold off a while longer. I can wait!

I have lots of books to share. Some new review books, a few I grabbed just because, lots of reviews, and a bunch of freebies I scoured off Amazon for you to pick and choose from. It’s a good thing I don’t grab all those freebies or my Kindle would runneth over!

I leave you with a favorite song of mine by The Rascals. Happy Sunday ya’ll!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

eBooks

25873276  21998522  21522121

I won Jeff Lindsay’s new book, Tropical Depression. You might recognize him by his awesome character, Dexter. The book and TV serial killer we all love!

And I won the first two books in The Preyfinder Series by Cari Silverwood. Boy, they look amazing!

Print Books

Quigley and new books 015

Aoleon The Martian Girl is a series I reviewed earlier this year. The author sent me the complete set, signed! They are spectacular!

I finally received The Drafter. So excited. And now I can start by reading Sideswiped first.

Guarded, Forbidden, and Just Say Yes were some awesome wins too. I only enter giveaways if I really want to read the books and these sure fit the bill!

Huge thanks to the blog hosts, authors, and tour organizers for these wonderful prizes.

So, what did you get to read this week?

Got any recommendations?

I’d love to know and thanks so much for visiting fuonlyknew.

Comments
  1. I slept like that when I was doing my student teaching. Most times I’d sleep all the way through the night and have no dinner. Certain things – especially working in the heat – can be exhausting. Since I don’t have a pool or access to one, I am enjoying this cooler weather. I hope you get a few more swims in before the daily temps officially announce fall.

  2. I’ve only napped like that a few times but it’s always when I’m absolutely worn out. Hopefully you’re feeling refreshed! We’ve gotten much cooler here in North Alabama and I’m not exactly thrilled about it. It’s way too cold to swim and it feels way too early. I’m expecting a ramp up in heat just as soon as we get used to the cool. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Here on the coast it’s still pretty hot. Did get a nice cool evening last night though. I’m all refreshed now, thanks!

  3. You got a lot of great looking books, so of course I picked up some freebies…lol. I don’t think I ever go without clicking at least one of them…he he you are bad for my tbr list. 🙂

    Week in Review

  4. I just picked up several of those freebies.

  5. Lola says:

I hope you get some cooler weather soon. Here we finally have some cooler weather, which is nice. Your dog is adorable!
I got the Murder Pit awhile ago, but haven’t read it yet, it sounds fun!Nice hau you got this week and yay for those signed books! I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

WE had a couple of cooler nights but it’s going to be back to hot by Wednesday so I’ll get some swimming in. I have Murder Pit too. I added it to my reading challenge so I’d be sure to read it. Such a fun cover.

  6. I love your freebie list. Following you

  7. A Dickens of Murder sounds so festive. Sweet haul my friend you have a little of everything! Enjoy!

  8. It’s hilarious how pets take over a space, “owning” it. Thanks for sharing your books, which look very tempting…and for visiting my blog. I’ve been noticing the Kim Harrison books everywhere!

    • fuonlyknew says:

He’s a hog no matter where he parks himself. LOL Gotta love em! I hope to start reading both of Kim’s books in a week or so. Have some review books to read first. They keep staring at me. LOL

  9. Greg says:

The humidity is the worst and just zaps you, if you’re anything like me. After a while it just tires you out! But at the same time who wants summer to be over, right? LOL.

You always have a ton of books and a pretty eclectic mix. Hope they’re good. Happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, I try not to complain. The alternative is frigid. LOL I read just about anything. I don’t want to miss a good book:)

  10. Angelized1st says:

Wow, you’ve been pretty busy! Swimming is a great way to exercise, and it’s fun, too! It appears you’ve snagged a lot of interesting looking books. Is Jeff Lindsay’s new book part of a new series? I’ve never read any of his books, but I’ve always been a Dexter fan. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I just love swimming. Can’t get enough. I do believe it’s going to be a series. I’ll check Jeff’s website and find out. I never read the Dexter books but followed the series to the end!

  11. katarguelles says:

We are having warm weather here too and I can’t wait for winter. I’m reading The Drafter now and it does help to read Sideswiped first. You got another great haul this week and I grabbed some of the freebies. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I had to grab Sideswiped. Everyone recommended I read it first. I would have anyway though. I love her books! I hope you enjoy the freebies:)

  12. Wow, what a great book haul, Laura! I snagged Wicked too, late Saturday night, but I’d already scheduled my Sunday Post so I’ll add it to next week’s haul. And I’m looking forward to your review of Threads of Evidence, and the other cozies I spot in there as well. The new Lavene mystery looks fun! Have a good week, and I hope the weather cools off enough to give you more energy but not so much that you can’t swim.

  13. What an adorable dog! I’ve been hearing great things about the Kim Harrison book, and have been meaning to grab it.

    • fuonlyknew says:

He’s such a stinker! LOL He’s my reading partner too. Usually him and my cat, Sheba have the whole couch covered. I was so excited to get The Drafter and went right out and grabbed Sideswiped too.

  14. I want the weather to stay warm so I can keep swimming too! The cool nights drop the temp too quickly. If I took a nap like that, I would never get to sleep at night. Have a great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I usually swim late into the year or even into January. I like cold water. Just can’t stay in as long. LOL It’s funny, but I had no trouble sleeping later on. Went to bed about 3 hours later and slept 8 hours. I normally only sleep 5!

  15. fangswandsfairy(alt) says:

I got THE DRAFTER a couple of weeks ago. It will be interesting to see if I like it. The set of books the author sent looks fun!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m sure I’ll like both books. I enjoy her writing and her characters. The Aoleon books are a treasure, filled with spectacular illustrations. I’m honored to have them.

  16. Aww! What a cute puppy! 😛 And what a fantastic haul! I hope you enjoy all your new books! 😀

    Here’s my Weekly Recap!

  17. Deborah says:

Oh wow… so many new books there Laura – you’ll be kept busy!

Poor you, having to work out in the heat but I guess the weather’s going to get cooler for you. (Though that’s a bummer for your swimming).

    Have a great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I can’t wait to read them too! I’ll take the heat any day. It just got to me last week. Taking a vacation soon and planning to rest up.

  18. signourney says:

Oh wow, that is pretty great of that author to send you the whole set signed! Cute dog. Have a great week!

  19. readerbuzz says:

Lots of possibilities here this week, especially The 6:41 to Paris. Thanks for sharing these. Hope the heat lets up a bit (but not too much for a swim).

Here’s my It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

    • fuonlyknew says:

Oh yeah. The 6;41 To Paris is a strange little story. I really enjoyed it but felt odd. LOL The heat let up a bit but will be back this week. I still have plenty of swim time left:)

  20. Wow you must have been tired! But heat will definitely do that to you. Hopefully you felt refreshed after your nap. 🙂

That is a ton of books! So many of them look good, I don’t know where to begin. Reimburse the Universe probably piques my interest the most, I will have to check it out. I have Sideswept to read too! Darn that broken e-reader. 🙁

    • fuonlyknew says:

All refreshed. Spent the weekend mainly reading and resting. Thanks:) Reimburse and the other book looked so fun I had to grab them. I hope you figure out your ereader problem. I know we can read on our computers but it’s a pain!

  21. Awesome book haul. I only grabbed a couple. Trying to back off and start reading instead of just adding the books. Happy reading to you, Laura.

  22. Emma says:

There is nothing nicer sometimes than the long nap in the middle of the day. Hope you felt refreshed!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I usually don’t take naps and when I do, I don’t sleep much more than 20 minutes or so. I slept so long and so deep. Relaxed over the weekend and back to myself now:)

  23. Heidi says:

Ahh your dog is so sweet. I hope you enjoy the J.L. Bryan Ellie Ghost Trapper Series. I am getting ready to start the fifth book this week. It is an addictive little series. Have a great week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

He’s something alright. LOL I just got the fifth book a couple of days ago. Can’t wait. Plan to do my remaining reviews for the series leading up to Halloween.

  24. Yvonne says:

I couldn’t resist A Dickens of A Murder either. I got a few of those books too. Enjoy and have a great week!

  25. Naomi Hop says:

    A nap is always good!
    Awesome Haul…. enjoy them all!

    Naomi @ Naomi’s Reading Palace

  26. Emma says:

Hope the heat eases some this week for you.

  27. What a mega haul, they look really good! Enjoy reading!

  28. Awww, look at your puppy on the couch. Nice and comfy. lol.

Hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books. 🙂

  29. Did you get Wicked when it was free the other day? I got it for $1.99 about a month ago and added the narration for $2.49 at that time. I started listening to it as a “reread” a couple of weeks ago, but had to stop to get some review books read. I hope the weather holds so you can continue swimming. Have a wonderful week. :).

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yep. I grabbed it! Now to find time to read it. LOL I did get some swimming in and looks like the rest of the week will be great for more.

  30. Dreams says:

I don’t recognize any of those books up there. I guess I’ve got a date with goodreads now because some of those covers are luring me in.
