Some chit chat.
This time of year money grows on tress. That’s right. Pecans!
We had the remnants of that huge storm blow through here Monday and Tuesday. Torrential rains and tropical storm force winds. It blew thousands, and I mean thousands, of pecans out of the trees. Just look at my back patio. You can see the path I cleared so we can walk. LOL
You should see my dog Quigley. He carries pecans in the house to eat them. He can crack one open and slowly but surely devour all of the sweet meat inside, leaving only bits of the shells. Gotta watch out for those shards, especially at night. I’ve often walked through the living room in the dark and stepped on some. They hurt like the dickens. LOL And my cat, Sheba, likes to bat them around. When I move furniture to clean behind it, it’s not uncommon to find some old pecans!
I used to go over to a neighbors pecan field every day after work and scoop up loads of these delicious pecans. One year we made several thousand by bagging them up and taking them to our local buyer. The last few years have been dismal crops, but this is a bumper year. I plan to gather these up and give them as gifts in some pretty packages. These are Elliot’s, the best of the best pecans.
Yeah, those are my toes in the picture. Had to show my Happy Feet! LOL
Happy Sunday!

So, what did you get to read this week?
Got any recommendations?
I’d love to know and thanks so much for visiting fuonlyknew.
I love pecans! How awesome to have a pecan tree in your back yard! My dad planted one when I was a kid and just as it started to have pecans a big storm came through and ended up knocking it down. I’m pretty sure my dad cried. I love your socks! And as usual fantastic books. Have a great week!
My front yard is just as full of pecans. I have four of them. One on each side of my house. It gets scary when we have heavy rain and wind. You can see the whole tree pulling up from the ground. They have such shallow roots and weak limbs. But the pecans are delicious! LOL
Had to wear my happy feet!
Holy cow, that’s a lot of pecans. I can imagine you make a little extra money selling them. That must have been a heck of a storm. I love pecan pie, wish I lived closer and could buy some pecans from you.
Have a good week!
I love pecans! Especially pecan pie 😉 Pretty cool your furry friends love to eat them, though I guess not if you plan to sell them. They do make great gifts, and I’m sure the people who receive them will appreciate them. Enjoy!
Enjoy your books! Stillwater caught my eye. So did the pecans…growing up on a farm, among other things, we had walnuts and almonds.
Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.
Vampire looks creeptastic. I love pecans in pies, by themselves but especially in my sweet potato casserole…nom
Wow, pecan city! I laughed about the stepping on them bit, although I know it’s not funny! And yeah I can see a cat having fun with that. LOL.
I love seeing all your pecans, Laura. I love them and it would be so great to have pecan trees, but I don’t think we will ever live someplace warm enough for them. Do you have problems with squirrels stealing the pecans? Definitely would make great Christmas gifts!
The Masquerading Magician has a nice cover. Have a great week! Enjoy your pecans! (BTW, I knew we must be in the South in Southern Maryland when I went to a restaurant and asked for Pecan Pancakes and pronounced pecan — puh – con — and the waitress didn’t understand me!)
wow so many pecans! I’ve never seen so many pecans at one place o_O, that’s a lot of pecans. Your pets seem to like the pecans, although I can imagine stepping on those shells is painfull. I like your socks!
I’ll be checking to see if some of those freebies are still free. Nice haul! Have a great week!
Damn, that’s a lot of pecans. When I was in high school, the place I boarded my horses had a bunch of walnut trees. So they’d let us pick them all up and sell them. I’d get about $20 a bag and they got it cleaned up for free. lol.
You may pack up and ship some of those pecans to me. 😉 I love pecans! I am the one who digs them out of the nut section at Christmas time….lol. I think I added almost all your freebies to my tbr list!!! There was one that we both grabbed this week…lol. I can’t wait to see some of those you were reviewing this week! 🙂
Have a great week!
Stormi
Wow! That’s quite the load of pecans. Awesome income, too. 🙂 I may have clicked one or *cough* two of the freebies. *whistles innocently*
Wow, look at those pecans! Great books on your list! I have Gigi Pandian’s books on my Kindle but haven’t had a chance to start them yet.
Hope you have a great week!
Ouch! Stepping on pecans hurts! But wow am I jelly of all the pecans. They are so expensive, I wish we had our own pecan trees. #lifegoals
Yay for a bumper crop of Pecans, lucky friends receiving them. I love Pecans too. Nice line up of books, I love the cover of Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂
Now I’m craving pecan pie! Have a great week.

Love your socks! And I have to say I’ve never really seen pecans ‘in the wild’ before. I guess I knew they grew on trees but didn’t know they come in shells. (Yes, I realise that’s kinda embarrassing!)
Wow, that is a lot of pecans. I see some pecan goodies in your future!
I love pecans and I understand how you can make a lot of money with these. They are expensive here to buy but I need them for holiday baking. It’s good you were able to read a Halloween theme of books. I had planned to this month but I ran out of time. I’ll have to start early next year lol. I love your socks and I hope you have a great week!
I love pecans, they’re so good in desserts, or just all by themselves ! I had a dog who used to eat cherries 🙂 Enjoy your beautiful book haul !
I love pecans, too! You are very lucky to have so many, even if I’m guessing it’s possible to get sick of even pecans… I had very many one year (brought from a neighbor) and I made pecan butter – it’s even better than peanut butter, and it’s amazing with apples!
Your new books look great, and I hope you’ll enjoy them all.
Have a fantastic week and happy reading.
Drat, missed Mermaid and the Crocodile. 🙁
