Some chit chat.
We’ve had some truly weird weather this week. It started out with freezing temps in the 20s on Monday to 70 and sunny on Saturday. I would go to work wearing six layers of clothes. By the end of the week I was in jeans and a t-shirt. In case you didn’t know, I work outside detailing cars. I’ve worked in some of the most god awful weather, from pouring rain and lightning storms to temps so cold ice was hanging off the cars.
Every year I swear I won’t be there the next winter, but here I am again. I enjoy my job. I get a lot of satisfaction when I see how great a vehicle looks after I’m done with it. It’s very physical work and sometimes I’m so exhausted and my body aches everywhere when I get home. A benefit is, it keeps me in shape.
I’m getting older and the job is getting harder. One day I’ll have to move on, but for now, I’m staying with it. I have wonderful bosses, more like friends. We get in fights. Make up. Fight again. LOL Along with the other three employees, we are our own little family.
Enough about me and weather. Lets get to the books!
I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

So, what did you get to read this week?
Got any recommendations?
I’d love to know and thanks so much for visiting fuonlyknew.
The Eve Project books look interesting. If The Death of Death book is still free I will probably grab that one. I will be checking out your Masquerading Magician review, too. Have a wonderful week. 🙂
I recently read Bob by Tegon Maus and loved it so I had to read more books by the author. I have three new ones I’ll be sharing soon. Gigi’s series is addictive. Love the characters.
Weather has been strange here as well. Though (again) it seems as if winter has kicked in. Let’s see how long it lasts this time.
Have a great week.
-Myrthe
Yeah. It’s down right cold this morning. But the sun is shining!
The weather was like that here as well! We had snow on Monday and then on Thursday it was 58! So now everything is a muddy mess! I love that you love your job! Thats awesome!
We don’t get snow here so at least I don’t have to look at that gray sludge. LOL
We had some strange weather here as well. It was cold then on Wed. it was 60 then back to being cold..ugh. Can’t get use to the cold weather cause it keeps going up and down. I am so ready for spring!
Stormi
I hear ya, Stormi. We just need to get through January and February! LOL
It turning into a beautiful day here. We may have to go out for a walk around the neighborhood. I can’t even imagine having to work outside in such bad weather. I hope you are able to stay warm and dry as much as possible! It sounds like you really enjoy your work though–and the people. That’s always a plus! I hope you have a wonderful week!
It’s great walking weather if the sun is shining. Otherwise, I hibernate. LOL
Looks like you got quite a few good free ones this week! I am going to not click on them, trying to be good about free ebooks! Great haul! Thanks for stopping by Lisa Loves Literature earlier as well.
I only grabbed one of those freebies so I did good at resisting. LOL
That is crazy weather. We have been consistent (finally) with cold weather. It’s rained a lot here which is good for our drought. I hear you about work! As much as I hate my job there are still things I love about it. For now we are both stuck at where we work lol. Thanks for the freebies and I hope you have a great week!
Yeah, there’s good and bad in any job:)
I didn’t know you job was car detailing Laura. That’s great. I find anything that restore and fix things very enjoyable. My thing are houses. I love to remodel. 🙂 detailing cars is hard work! so I hear you about needing the energy of youth 🙂 as always thanks for the freebies!
Yep, been making people’s cars look like new for many years. But the elements and the physical part of it are getting tough on my body.
Wow! So many posts last week. You’ve been busy – and with the weird weather!
I think it’s great you enjoy your job even if it’s becoming a struggle. Job satisfaction can be very hard to find!
I’ve been slwoing down my blog a bit. Or so I thought. LOL I do enjoy being able to see the results of my hard work. probably part of the reason I stay with it:)
So many great books on your list. I have a few of those freebies too. Enjoy and have a great week!
There were a bunch of great freebies to share this week. That’s a fun part of my Sunday Post. Looking for those to share:)
City of Shadows sounds good, hope that you enjoy and have a good upcoming week
Yeah, I love that cover. Checked it out and sounds good too:)
Lots of great freebies their to pick. Your job sounds like fun. Have a great week!
I love browsing for the freebies. The hard part is resisting grabbing all of them for myself. LOL
The weather’s been kind of typical here — coldish, grey, and wet. But we got a little snow today! It didn’t stick, but it looked pretty coming down.
It’s great that you like your job and the people you work with — and the fitness benefits must be nice, too. But I’m sorry it sometimes leaves you exhausted and aching.
I’m going to go check out your review of The Masquerading Magician. Mine posted this week, too. 🙂
Weird weather for us. I’ll take that over snow and ice though. Can’t wait for sunny days again:) I’ll hop over and check out your review!
The Hunted looks interesting. I’ll bet it’s difficult to dress for work with the weather. Dress too warmly, and you’ll get too hot when working. Dress without enough layers, and you’ll freeze doing down time. That’s crazy the weather was flopping like that. Hopefully this week’s will be more stable.
It’s funny how much I don to go to work. I do peel off layers as I get too warm. I learned my lesson about not layering up enough! LOL
Is that… Romeo and Juliet as cats? Lol that seems interesting. I liked hearing about your job though! Wouldn’t be my kind of job, but I’m glad it makes you happy 🙂 It seems like so many people are miserable with their jobs.
I thought I found pretty much every free book ever without how crazy I am about finding them lol, but I hadn’t seen Hunted. So I downloaded it! How could I not when the tagline was, “Just your average boy-meets-girl, boy-kills-people story.” Lol.
Not sure but I plan to find out. Sounds like a fun read and I love a cozy:) I do enjoy my job nut there’s good and bad for all jobs, aren’t there! I had to grab Hunted too!
70 and sunny sounds good right about now. We escaped the snow bullet today but it’s only about 15 degrees, so we’re freezing out! Nice freebies, several of those look good…
Have a super week!
That’s down right freezing! We do dip into the 20s now and then but it doesn’t last long. Good thing, as I wouldn’t be able to work in it. LOL
Oh that is weird weather!!! We just got a dusting of snow and the day before it was 50 so I get it! Enjoy all your new books!!
Today is sunny and supposed to get to low 50s. Crossing my fingers that’s true. LOL
Wow that’s some strange weather you got there. I don’t think I would like working outside, from the cold to the rain to the sun. On the other hand you are outside instead of sitting at the office the whole day, I guess that can be a good thing too. And if you enjoy your job, that’s great! And that’s great to have a boss and other employees who are like friends. I hope you’ll have a great week!
Yeah. Today it starts out freezing but will be close to 60 by the afternoon. LOL
It’s great to see that you love your job still! I hope that happens to me!
Wow… loads of reads! I hope you enjoy all of them!!
There are some days I don’t love it so much though! LOL
Our weather is weird too – it snows, it rains, it freezes, it’s warm… Oh well, soon it’ll be summer again, right?
It’s great that you have such a good atmosphere at work 🙂 That sure helps the days go smoothly, even if your job is hard.
Your new books look great, especially The Death of Death… I want that one!
I hope you’re having a fantastic week, Laura.
I am longing for spring! For sun and surf and warmer climates:)
We’ve had our car detailed before and I know it has to be very physical work. But it is good to stay in shape. The Masquerading Magician looks good and I love the title and idea of Wally the Warm-Weather Penguin! Hope you have a great week.
It’s hard but satisfying work. The Masquerading Magician is a fun series and I enjoyed Wally. Love children’s books:)
