This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.
I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Some chit chat.
Well. We just had the first named tropical storm that has impacted our area since Hurricane Katrina. Tropical Storm Cindy wasn’t even classified as a hurricane but it was a massive storm, with it’s affects felt for several hundred miles. We had gusting winds and lots of rain, and it went on for several days. Cindy formed in the Gulf Of Mexico and it’s been my experience that they can be the worst storms. Luckily, she didn’t stall for long and the conditions weren’t perfect for her to become larger. We suffered no damage and it sure is nice to see some sunshine again. We’re way overdue for some tropical storms and if Cindy is the only we get, I’d be relieved. But the season just started and it’s already an unusually hot muggy beginning to summer. I’ll cross my fingers, toes, eyes and anything else I can that we don’t get hit again this year.
I watched the last season of Bloodlines. It kind of fell flat for me. I just loathed the characters even more. LOL Waiting for Preacher to start tonight. That is one crazy show and I love it. Makes me laugh!
And…books. Been reading a bunch. I noticed it’s mostly horror and thrillers. Guess its all the sales I took advantage of. LOL Got much to share, so check them out. And make sure you look through the freebies.

EEK, glad you escaped the worst of that storm. I so much hate high winds never mind hurricanes. Our climate is a lot milder so we don’t generally get these extremes, luckily. I read White Flag of the dead a while back and it’s a great zombie book! I have yet to read the rest of the series but I have bought them. Have a good reading week!
The hurricanes enter the gulf and just brew in the hot waters. We were lucky with this one. I just grabbed White Flag since you enjoyed it.
Sorry to hear you were hit by a storm but glad to hear it didn’t get too serious and didn’t cause any damage for you. I will keep everything crossed that no serious storms hit this year as nobody wants that.
Love all the books on this post. Behold has the coolest looking cover. i am drawn in my cool book covers so I hope that anthology is as good as the cover makes it look.
We were lucky that it wasn’t stronger. Kind of nervous about the season now. Behold has some great authors writing in it. And I like the crazy cover too.
So glad that the storm moved on, leaving no damage behind. That kind of storm would freak me out, but then again, we have earthquakes here…although not very often. Knock wood.
I also hated the final season of Bloodline…weren’t those characters horrible? Not a single one to root for.
I enjoyed Wentworth, an Australian prison show that just came out with Season 5.
I love Better Call Saul, but the AMC Season 3 just ended, so it will be a while.
Enjoy your week, and I’m curious about Taking Out the Trailer Trash…LOL.
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I think I’d take hurricanes over earthquakes. At least we have days to prepare or run for it. Yeah, Bloodlines was a let down for the finale. And I’ve never come across so many horrible people.
That Behold cover is amazing! I’ll have to see where I can grab it, cause it features some incredible names 🙂
Have a great reading week!
I added the link . Just click on the cover. It doesn’t come out until the end of July but you can pre-order it.
I thought of you when I heard about Cindy so I am glad it didn’t get to bad your way. I hope it doesn’t get bad either. We finally got a storm shelter put in here cause of the frequent tornados, but it’s almost time for that season to be over but I sure hope we don’t have to use it. At least now dad won’t have to argue with me since I didn’t like leaving my fur babies as it’s big enough for them too. 🙂
Enjoy your new reads!!
Stormi
Week in Review
That’s great that your furry friends can fit in the shelter too, Stormi. Hotels finally got with the program and allow you to bring your pets if you have to evacuate. Many people lost their lives in bad hurricanes because they wouldn’t leave their pets. And we’ve had many times where the whole town had to leave, pets and all. They shut everything down, electric, water, everything.
We had some rain up here in North AL thanks to Cindy and some wind but nothing that did more than take some some sizable branches. However, I spent most of this past week near the coast and the rain and wind was crazy! I’ve been thinking about adding Bloodlines to my To Watch list but I keep hearing mixed reviews about the 2nd season so I think I might give it a miss. Have a great week!
It did get pretty windy and so much rain! I enjoyed the fist two seasons of Bloodlines. The third one not so much but I’m glad I finished it.
Oh no, sorry about the tropical storm, but glad you didn’t have any damage. Ugh, stupid hurricane season. The cover for Behold is awesome!
Hurricane season just started so this doesn’t feel good for the summer months. Crossing my fingers. I love the cover for Behold and there are some great authors featured in it.
Glad you avoided the worst of Cindy, and sorry to hear about the mugginess. I can handle hot but not muggy. Hope you get some relief. I felt the same way about Bloodline- not a great season and the characters were awful! It’s pretty bad when Eric O’Bannon is the most sympathetic character on the show lol. Man did he get railroaded!!
I’m just glad we suffered no damage and the sun is finally out again. Yeah, Eric was a loser but he sure got shafted.
Sorry to hear about the storm. We just got hit with it too and it caused our internet connection to go out. I usually can’t stand hurricane seasons because things like this happens!
Here’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
I know. How can we watch the weather when everything goes out! I do have a battery operated television that comes in handy. Just need to stock up on so many batteries.
Glad Cindy’s wrath was mild. Hope this week brings more sunshine. Enjoy your haul 🙂
It’s finally moved on and the sun is shining bright:)
I used to secretly love storms when we were in Florida. Not that I want anyone to have property damage, but days off of school and work were nice. Here I still have to work, even in a blizzard. That is no fun. Glad to hear y’all are okay.
After the Ending and Ash look really good. I am looking forward to your reviews for those. Have a great week!
I used to, but not anymore. It’s scary, costly, and a pain in the!!!!!
Thank goodness the storm wasn’t *too* bad. Glad yall made it out okay 🙂 The Girl and the Clockwork Cat looks fantastic!
It was some wind and a whole lot of rain. Glad it’s done now. I love the cover for that book and had to grab a copy for me too. Sounds fun.
I’m glad to hear you suffered no damage from Cindy! fingers crossed here too that you get no more ! 🙂 I should give Preacher a try since you like it so much! 🙂
It was rainy and windy for days but no damage. I just watched Preacher and had a blast. It’s too weird for words. LOL
That ARC looks truly amazing and you are right, such great authors. I like having physical copies of anthologies as opposed to ebooks so maybe I’ll check it out. I’m really looking forward to some of the reviews you have coming up. I have Turner Street but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Glad you survived Cindy!
I love that cover and can’t wait til this coming weekend so I can get started on it. Turner Street is strange. I need to read more before I know if I like it.
Glad that storm has passed and all is well now! Have a great week and happy reading 🙂
Jo-Ann at Inspiration Pie
Thanks. It’s beautiful now and I’m enjoying reading outside and dipping in the pool.
So glad you are safe! I hope that is the only big storm you get hit with, too!
I will be looking forward to your review of Ash. I have it on my list for my October Zombiethon. I also have s copy of Turner Street, so I will have my eye out for that review, too. The cover to Behold is stellar. I hope you have been having a great week. 🙂
