This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.
I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Some chit chat.
Last week I shared photos of cotton fields and said how much it looked like snow. We don’t often see the white stuff on the Gulf Coast. But….we did this weekend. It’s been raining and bitter cold for days and Saturday night that rain turned to snow. It was later in the evening, around 11 P.M. I’d just finished watching Alien: Covenant, which was an okay movie. My dog, Quigley wanted to go outside one last time before bed. When I let him back in he had something all over him!
Will you look at that. He’s covered with snow! Knowing it might not last long, I quickly grabbed my cell phone and snapped some pics. Here’s the chair on my back patio.
I got up Saturday morning to see snow still hanging around in some areas so I snapped some more pics.
The chairs in my back yard.
Back yard.
Front yard.
And my car!
I wish I could have caught pics of the stuff falling down from the sky but it was too dark out. I know many of you got a bunch of snow and this looks like nothing too you. It’s just a very rare event for the south. The weather is bouncing back to normal now and supposed to be around 60 during the day and dipping into the 40s at night next week. Can’t say I’ll miss this wee taste of winter but it was exciting.

You know, having only experienced snow a couple of times while on vacation overseas (it doesn’t snow here, ever!) I’m kind of glad we never see it lol I don’t mind the cold, but I’m so glad I never have to drive or deal with the white stuff. It would be pretty exciting though, if it snowed one night (it is pretty!)
It looks like you got some fun new books this week, I hope that you enjoy them! Have a great week ahead 🙂
I’ve lived her 30+ years and only seen snow a few times. One was a blizzard and I had to drive in it, slipping and sliding. I grew up in the north but forgot how to drive in snow. LOL
Snow!! It never snows where I live either, so it’s always exciting when I see that it has snowed for someone. Have a good week, and happy reading! 🙂
I suspect many will laugh at my amount of snow. LOL I have family that live in the northern US and they got tons of it.
Wow, snow. I wish we had one here. I love snow. Oh love your pictures. I hope you enjoy your new books this week and have a wonderful week. Happy reading. ❤️😁
It was fun but I’m glad it didn’t linger too long. I don’t do cold.LOL
Too funny that you really had snow this week after lasts weeks post 😀
I know. I think I jinxed myself. LOL
Wow a little snow? 🙂
Deck the Malls looks fun, and Fury of the Orcas- oh oh, watch out people in the water lol.
I know. Who woulda thunk? I just finished Fury Of The Orcas. It was pretty good. And I live near the ocean and don’t step foot in it anymore. LOL I’ve seen what lurks under the surface. Not going to be a statistic. LOL
We still didn’t get any snow where we live, but I’m hoping we get some soon!
Here’s my Sunday Post !
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
When I was younger I loved skiing and sledding and taking walks in the snow. Now I’m the kind that would grumble about clearing the driveway and sidewalk and car. Good thing I moved to a warmer climate. LOL
Seriously, even YOU had snow?? I was sure you wouldn’t! That’s a bit weird. How often do you get snow at all?
Yep, I got snow! It’s very rare and usually doesn’t last much past sunrise. Our cold spells are usually brief and sometimes we get freezing rain. This was a 2000 mile stretch of wintry blast that took days to pass through.
We got snow, too! It snowed both on Friday and Saturday, and I actually got a decent picture of the falling snow on Friday night, because it was snowing so hard, with huge snowflakes 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
I tried to get pictures of the snow falling but it didn’t show up in the camera. Quigley was a good backdrop to show some. LOL
Wow, you had A LOT of posts over the past week. I’m so happy I was included in that!!! Thanks for an awesome week. 🙂 We’ve had a of snow this weekend, but it’s not at all unusual for us. I’m in Canada, after all! But on the gulf coast??? That must be incredibly rare. A nice, soft snowfall always makes me smile.
I did have a bunch of posts. So many awesome tours and giveaways this time of year and figured it would be fun to share them. I had to try to make snowballs. They quickly became iceballs. LOL
There were places in the south that got more snow than we did in Ohio! I want some dang snow! Its the only good thing about winter!
Have a great week!
That’s strange that you got less than some southern states! It’s still pretty cool here but no more of the white stuff.
We got lots of snow and now it’s ice. It does look very pretty 🙂 I love how it looks in the trees.
You got lots of really great looking books this week!
Have a great week, Laura! Happy reading! 🙂
I always loed the first snowfalls before everything got dirty looking. It’s still green here so it looked so pretty.
Oh my goodness – it must be rare if you grow bananas, etc to have snow falling! Much of England and Wales is being blanketed right now, so I’m delighted we only are having gale-force winds and rain. I HATE the white stuff! Hope your weather continues to revert to normal and it is milder – have a great week, Laura:)
It is rare. It wasn’t too bad as my plants didn’t die off. Some do after a few cold snaps though. We need some of the cool temps to kill off all those mosquitos. LOL I love snow during Christmas and then it needs to make way for spring!
I love snow but a little is a tease. I’ve been on a few blogs about it being where it shouldn’t- global warming?
They say global warming is a hoax. Keep on saying that! Our weather in the south is so different from 20 or so years ago.
On Thursday night it started snowing during the basketball games at school. All the kids started running out front and running around in it. When I left at 10:30, there was a beautiful blanket over everything. The last snow I remember was 2010-2011 school year here.
That’s how it was here. A gentle snowfall and a pretty white blanket:)
So funny to see someone so excited about snow! We see it and either groan or think, “Yep, it’s that time of year.” 🙂
I know. I had a feeling some people would laugh. LOL I grew up in the north and we had plenty of snow there. Don’t miss it though!
Yay for snow! So many people have gotten snow over the weekend, even in places that rarely ever get it. Crazy! Enjoy the new books and your week ahead. 🙂
My Sunday Post
I know. It was a 2000 mile long winter storm band. It swept right across the country.
A little snow is nice. We usually have had a couple snowfalls by now..but nada.
This caught me by surprise. It actually had to warm up a couple degrees for it to snow. And very early if we are going to get some too.
I bet your poor dog was like Mom, what is that stuff on me! 🙂 You guys are more than welcome to keep the snow. 🙂
You got a lot of great books!! Fury of the Orcas!! 🙂
Have a great week!
Stormi
He loves the cold and I had to coax him in so I could go to bed. He was out there in the dark laying in the stuff. LOL
We had a little snow this weekend. I was just happy it wasn’t more than that 🙂 Your books look good. I picked up some of those freebies too. Have a great week!
I enjoyed it and agree, less is better. LOL I noticed we shared some of the same books this week:)
Great photos! My dogs like to roll in snow. You should see how much snow they have on them after that. Have a great week!
I think Quig would have been tunneling in it if there was enough. LOL
Wasn’t this snow crazy! It was fun to see it but I’m glad it’s not a regular visitor! Enjoy your new books. I really enjoyed Ditched 4 Murder. Have a great week!
Yes it was. A fun surprise. All gone now:)
I’ve still never experienced snow in person, living here in Queensland Australia. Love your flamindoe sleigh. Happy reading over the holidays Laura!
I can count on one hand how many times I’ve seen snow in the south. LOL My flamingos did really have snow on them outside. LOL Forgot to take pics of that!
I just had to grab that Hunter Shea book as a Christmas present to myself! I should get it in a few days if the weather doesn’t get too bad! No snow in my area but a lot of the UK is getting it bad. We’ve got a bit of frost and it’s cold but no snow.
I spotted it from his newsletter and hopped right over to grab it. Already read it!
I’m so thrilled to have Fury of the Orcas to read. I desperately needed another Shea book before the year was out. I have the first two Riley books but need to get the last three before I start reading it. The snow looked great. It came down pretty heavy where I live Saturday evening for about an hour – enough to cause wrecks, but most was gone by Sunday morning. Bet you dog couldn’t figure out what was going on!
I know. He satisfied I need just in time! LOL I have to get the fifth Riley audible and can’t wait to dive into them. They said no snow here but so fun that they were wrong:)
No, it can’t be…snow…Something’s wrong about that. lol
sherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
LOL I spotted your pics too!
That is sooooo cool you got snow! I mean, it’s not like it’s a storm and it’s not sticking around but think of all the people who don’t normally see snow, getting to see it!! And just before Christmas!!! Awesome!! But yeah… 60’s and some sunshine sounds soooo much better. I love the picture of Quigley! Snow looks awesome on a dark dog 🙂 Mine is black, too!!
I’m still giggling over the flamingos… too funny!! Stay warm!!!
I was thrilled to see it. And so was my son. He grew up here in the south but I used to live in the north and am quite familiar with snow. I’ll take small doses like this. LOL Quigley was hilarious. Running all over and trying to catch the snow flakes. I share the flamingos every year. I actually have some in my back yard and forgot to snap a pic of them covered in snow..
