This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.
I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
Some chit chat.
It’s been a gorgeous week as far as the weather. Temps in the 70s and finally some sun peeking through. Makes me all excited to start digging in the dirt. LOL
You might remember me posting about green stuff on December 31st. This plant is glorious!
And after the freeze on January 7th.
Look here. It’s coming back and I can only hope it’s even bigger this year!
My banana tress are looking quite sad. But, once the spring weather is here to stay, you’ll say big changes.
I’ll keep you updated as I get to work on them and show how they progress.
Other than that, just reading more and watching the telly. Plus, starting on the dreaded spring cleaning.

Ooh 70’s sounds pretty dang good right about now! We’ll be lucky to get some 50’s this week! Can’t wait to see too how that banana trees do with spring coming. 🙂
Legend of the Jade dragon looks awesome!
Yep, 70s is awesome. I’ve been enjoying some reading outside the last few days. Even got a little sunburn! I’m doing some research to make sure I cut back the banana trees at the right time. Hoping a hurricane doesn’t ruin it this year. LOL I love the cover for Legend Of The Jade Dragon. Might try the series.
Will we be getting another banana cam this year? I loved it. 🍌
We had one warm day in the 50s, so I had all the windows open. That is one thing I hate about winter more than snow… no fresh air in the house. ⛄
I love the covers for Paranormal Case and Messengers. 📚
Have a fab week! ☺
Yes, more banana features! I’ve done some research and looking for ways to get more crops this year. It’ll be fun to share. I wanted to open windows but the humidity is way up. The fog is so thick in the mornings I wait for it to lift and the sun to come out before going outside to read. So damp!
I actually did the spring cleaning yesterday! Like, from top to bottom, not even kidding. Although to be honest, it’ll probably get dirty again before it’s really spring here xD
I hope all of your plants bounce back successfully this year 🙂
I know. All I have left is cleaning out the closets and by then it’ll be time to start over. LOL My plants come back each year but giving them extra TLC to see how well they do.
It’s been warmer here this week, too, but not every day – as we did get snow one day. Nature just can’t make up her mind 😉
Your new books look amazing! Enjoy!
Have a wonderful week and happy reading.
Not snow! It’s unusually warm right now and will be for several more days. I know it won’t last. Winter always gives us a couple of surprise blasts before it gives up. LOL It was the weirdest winter this year, wasn’t it?
Do you live in Hawaii? Florida? Do they have banana trees in Florida? It’s not often that I long for warmer climates but your pictures are doing it for me.
I live in Coastal Alabama. We have all kinds of tropical plants and trees. I can’t wait for things to start peeking out of the ground again!
Oh, Alabama near the ocean! I’ve only read about it in books 🙂 Have a great weekend!
It’s wonderful. I don’t plan on ever leaving:)
It looks great where you are! We are still drowning in rain and I desperately need dry towels. Hahaha.
Hope you have a great week!
We had the rain early in the week. I swear my yard was turning into a pond! LOL
Oh wow! 70s *she says with yearning in her voice*. Though I can’t complain – we have escaped snow and the worst of the winter weather so far this year… I’m SO impressed with your plant’s resurgence – Spring is truly wonderful and look forward to hearing more updates on your banana:). Hoping you have another lovely warm week, Laura!
I know. I’m enjoying it while it lasts, Sarah:) I was caught by surprise with my plant. It’s already grown a lot since I too the picture 2 days ago. Everything just goes crazy when the weather warms up a bit. I have to start on my bananas but holding off just a while longer in case another bitter snap comes. Don’t want the roots to get zapped.
Hope springs eternal, and Spring will return! Your books are truly creepy, not my style, lol, but to each his own– and I do hope you enjoy them! Have a good week and have fun reading.
Yes indeed! I feel spring. I know it’s here to stay when the Pecan trees start to bud. I love creepy reads. LOL
So sorry for the plant, although having a garden sounds awesome and I hope you can bring it back to life.
More free books! I cannot keep away from them!
Have a great week!
I love digging in the dirt and watching things grow. It’s very satisfying and so lovely to sit outside and look at. My plant is already growing since this picture. Can’t wait to see it continue! Enjoy the freebies:)
Your weather sounds really nice! We are still having lots of rain, no sunshine in our near future. Enjoy the new books and the restrictions Sunday.
It’s been wonderful weather all week. Been outside in my bathing suit, soaking up the sun and reading too. We had rain for a week and so nice to feel the sun again:)
Oh my! Poor plant really. Now on the other hand you seem to have sun whereas we had a really cloudy winter so far. Enjoy your week 😉
Yes. After over a week of rain we finally got the sun. I’m relishing every bit of it.LOL
I love your plants!! I have such a brown thumb I can’t grow grass! I need to spring clean as well. That is usually my spring break project!
Have a great week!
One thing about tropical climates, things just grow by themselves. LOL
After a frost, everything looks so depressing. But that’s what so nice about Spring, it’s a chance for rebirth. 🙂
Hope you have a great week.
I know. I love all the shades of green!
Great plants! I love seeing their progress.
We’ve had mild weather…today will be 63 or so. That works for me.
Enjoy your books! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Anything is better than freezing! And I’m so excited to see things growing again.
Poor bananas. 🙂 I miss having banana trees. We had tons of them as a kid.
At my old house, I had them everywhere. Trying to keep it more contained here.
Laura,
I too am looking forward to spring. Here in Illinois, though, nothing is blooming or peeking out yet, but the weather has been playing every few days with 60’s and 70’s in between 40’s and 50’s. I can’t wait for warm days.
As soon as I see buds on the pecan trees, I’ll relax and know that spring is here. That’s not bad weather for up north!
We are going to be having a lot of rain this week which means things will be growing so I am going to have to get outside and start picking up and getting ready for mowing season…blah. I need to do a bit of pruning and weed digging to get ready for my veggie garden.
Have a great week and happy reading!

Week in Review
It’s going to be mid to high 70s all week with low chances at a shower or two! I had to get out my summer work clothes for this coming week. I work outside and it gets hot. I plan to spend time next weekend polishing up my gardens and laying mulch.
It’s been pretty warm here where I live as well. I’m so ready for Spring Break. I think its so cool you have a banana tree. I loved to eat them and still do. Have a great week.
Spring Break isn’t far away. We get lots of visitors and there are all kinds of festivals and concerts on the beach. I like my bananas still a little green, not too sweet.
Dark Gifts looks creepy! I hope you enjoy all the new books this week. I totally want to get my hands on it. Sorry your plant died, I hope it does come back – bigger and better than before! Have a great week of reading!
Mary
I love that cover for Dark Gifts. Sounds like a dark read too and I love those:) My plant lasted a long time this winter and now it’s coming back! I spotted a few shrubs that were poking out of the ground today too.
Some of my plants look like yours except I don’t think mine will come back. It’s been a cold winter here in Texas.
Enjoy your week!
I usually get my plants and such from a local nursery and they advise me about what stays green year round and what comes back. I like to mix things up:)
All my plants are dead and under the snow. They probably will be until early May. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!
It just feels so good to know that spring is coming!
Sounds like nice weather for you. After some very light overnight snow, it feels like spring here. I hate spring cleaning, but it’s a necessary evil 🙂 Have a great week!
The end of winter is in sight! I did some more cleaning today. Went through my armoire’s and got rid of old linens and clothes that haven’t seen the light of day in years! LOL
My plants (potted) also got the brunt of the cold, even covered. I am not sure all of them will survive. My ivy has only two little leaves. I’ve had that plant for almost 10 years and it’s seen me through 10 moves, so I am hoping and praying it will survive. I am going to have to develop a better system this year for next winter. What I really want is a little greenhouse. Your new leaves look so promising!
I brought in my potted plants, even the huge ones. I cleared a place for them and they are on rollers so not too hard to move. Pretty much everything rooted outside will come back. I learned through trial and error which kinds to buy.
That warm weather sounds so nice. I am sure your plant will make a comeback! Have a great week of reading.
It was 80 today and going to be the same all week! And my plant is growing like crazy!
Hope your plants get back to life. Happy week.
I’m already seeing more green!
I think I might have that Survivors book on my Kindle as I think I recognise the cover. Mind you there could be anything lurking on the Kindle!
Yeah, my kindle surprised me now and then! LOL Survivors sounded interesting as it’s tagged as science fiction. Got me curious.
Ah 70’s. Sounds glorious. We had bipolar weather this weekend. Rain and flooding, freak blizzard and then 68 today (2 days later). We aren’t in a flooding risk but my mother is and it’s been hard on her. Some great books this week. I used to read quite a bit of Yasmine Galenorn and really need to dive back in. I really enjoy her urban fantasy books. Hope you have a great week!
I’m loving this weather. Went to work in shorts today! And already getting a tan:)
70s sounds nice. I hope the plant comes back nicely!! =)
Have a good week!
It was 80 today and just beautiful. I know some chilly weather will return but spring is close and my plants are growing fast.
It’s crazy how fast a freeze can kill off plants. At least it’s growing back. Hope you have a great week!
I know. Some take a couple of days to die but some do it almost immediately!
I lived in the tropics for a good portion of my life so I remember being horrified when I moved up north and saw all the plants dead in the winter. I couldn’t believe they’ll grow back as good as they were or better. They do. LOL
Yep. I used to live in the north and the winters were so grey. LOL Here in the south we sometimes make it through without losing plants. But weren’t that lucky. LOL But they are already coming back!
