Some chit chat.

I’m sure most of you have noticed how much I love horror, whether reading the books or watching the movies and shows. And I bet I catch you by surprise when I share a chick lit comedy or some romance. LOL The thing is, I love words. I love how an author puts them together and takes me away to places I’ve never been. I can time travel, venture into the future and outer space. Fly with dragons, and run with a pack of shifters. I can feel the first blush of romance and the agony of heart break. I could go on and on. To sum things up, no matter the genre, I’m always happy to be reading.

I spent this weekend outside. It was 70s and blue skies. No humidity and so glorious! I read 5 books!  And got a little sunburnt. LOL I then continued reading inside and finished two more. I can see the numbers growing now that spring and summer are in the air. I will spend more time outside and less time watching the telly. Sounds fun, doesn’t it!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

  1. I love reading a variety of genres, but horror is not one of them. LOL. Unless the horror is the tame kind. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  2. Greg says:

Sunburnt already? And sunny but no humidity. Sounds just about perfect lol. I’ve been down to FL though at this time of year and it’s probably my favorite time to visit- January through March or so. The weather is just so pleasant usually.

You’re plowing through some books too! I’ve been kinda the same, my reading has been up and my watching way down lol.

Hope your books are all good this week. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

My family liked to come down from Michigan during those months. They need to melt for a bit. LOL I’ve been devouring books and the telly has been sitting neglected. No worries. Some shows I like are starting new seasons and it will be busy soon. LOL

  3. Wow.. 7 books? That’s amazing. I’m so ready for spring to arrive too. There’s nothing better than reading in the sun. 😀
Have a great week and happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I enjoyed reading outside this weekend. I made sure to apply some sunscreen often so I wouldn’t get crispy. LOL

  4. Beware Of The Reader says:

Hahaha Laura yes you surprised me LOL I hope your sunburnt are already healed and that you’ll enjoy some more sunny days! When is your first dip in the pool?

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ll probably be getting in the pool next weekend. I want to get a blance on the chemicals and let the sun heat it up for one more week so I don’t freeze.

  5. I am happy to read any sort of good book. I’m like that too.

I’m glad the weather is so lovely there. It warmed up nicely this week and the rain finally went away. It was a good week.

  6. This has not been a productive reading week for me at all! It always seems that I kind of flag at the end of months!

  7. I love horror and all storytelling type genres. 🙂
I can’t wait for the 60s/70s I am so tired of the 30s/40s. I usually love the cold but this is just taking too long. I want to go outside or at least get the kids to go outside.

I hope you have a wonderful week, Laura! Happy Reading! xx

    • fuonlyknew says:

Our nights are still pretty chilly but I love that. Once summer hits it’s stride even the nights are hot.

  8. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says:

Spring is kinda here too and we are celebrating it by taking off to the beach this week. But I am just hoping the cold won’t spoil it, you know how crazy the weather has been recently with all the fluctuations. I hope you have a great reading week again.

  9. I remember when Shutter was a new release, everyone on BookTube talked About it, but I don’t remember anyone reviewing it… I hope you will like it!
Also, Hunting Las Vegas looks great!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I read Shutter right through and loved it. It was filled with creepiness and action and I grew fond of the characters. Loads of fun. Haunting Las Vegas will be up on my list pretty soon. It sounds fun too.

  10. Tammy says:

I loved Shutter, it had a unique idea and it was pretty scary!

  11. Funny how right now a sunburn is an exciting thing. Yay for sunburns! LOL!

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL I know. I had to crow about it. I just got a bit pink so nothing too bad. Sunscreen is a must here and I have to use it often as I sweat it right off. LOL

  12. sjhigbee says:

Sunburnt… ahh! And 7 books – RESPECT:)). I know what you mean about loving words, Laura. I love reading them – and writing them, too…

    • fuonlyknew says:

I tried my hand at writing but I learned it wasn’t meant to be. Now, I just devour the stories and love it. It’s funny how writing reviews has broadened my vocabulary and how I speak now. And I’ve enjoyed your first two books, Sarah. Always ready to read more:)

  13. sjhigbee says:

And… thank you for featuring the freebies – I’ve just scampered across and got hold of ‘Fields’ Guide to Abduction’!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Fields Guide To Abduction was one I came across this morning. I post the night before and come here Sunday morning to change out the books that might not still be free with new ones. I grabbed it too!

  14. I enjoy mixing it up and go through genre phases. Right now I am deep in UF, thrillers, paranormal but also dipping into fiction, women’s fiction and the occasional romance or historical. It is fun but like you I love horror! Going to check out your freebies.

    • fuonlyknew says:

My reading was all over the place this week and every book I read was enjoyable. I call that a success!

  15. Anna says:

looking forward to reading “Haunting Las Vegas”. “Delayed Death” seems like a good read as well.

    • fuonlyknew says:

The author offered Haunting Las Vegas in her newsletter and I had to give it a try. She also sent me a short story. Curious about it too. Delayed Death was a news series I wanted to try.

  16. 70’s and no humidity! Thats amazing (especially for the south!). We saw the sun here…

    • fuonlyknew says:

All hail the sun! LOL It was a beautiful week. Deep blue skies, not washed white by humidity yet. Another great week in weather coming up too!

  17. Omg I’m the same! Horror all the time for me! I have to be in a specific mood to want to watch/read rom-coms or contemporaries, but yeah, I get it!

I read Shutter a while back and really enjoyed it! Happy reading! 😁

  18. I’m not a horror fan but I read more genres than most people I know.

Yay for improved weather. We aren’t quite as warm here more like 60s but I am loving the mostly sunny days. I used to read outside on the balcony when I was in grad school. Sounds great – it won’t be long now and you’ll be in the pool!

    Have a lovely week!

    Here is my Sunday Post

    • fuonlyknew says:

Horror is my favorite genre. But i do enjoy so many others. Even a bit of erotica now and then. LOL I love being able to sit outside and breathe in fresh air. I just have to be careful not to be in the sun too much. I expect to be in the pool next weekend!

  19. kozbisa says:

Technically I have been reading outside a lot too, but it’s only when I am waiting for the train/bus, and it’s not warm. I look forward to 70s and sunshine. Enjoy!

  20. You know I’m a pretty eclectic reader myself so I totally understand how you feel about just loving reading. I even hauled some chick lit/romance this week as well. Must be Spring. That being said, I’m also reading 2 horror books so…all in all a good week. It was a nice weekend here as well. Hope we both have awesome weeks.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I used to just read one genre at a time until I moved on to another. Now I mix it up and have even more fun:)

  21. Bels says:

I’m loving the outdoors as well – I’m actually sitting outside tonight reading blog posts and comments 🙂 I love this time of year and will likely spend a ton of time out here too. Though whether I’ll manage to read 5 books in a weekend is definitely debatable. I’m happy to have read 5 chapters lol!

    Have a great week!

  22. 5 books! I hope you enjoyed them all, Laura! And it sounds like spring is truly in your area… maybe a little of summer vibes as well (though without the humidity, which is always a plus)?

  23. StackingMy BookShelves says:

I will have to grab some of these freebies. I love that spring is in the air. I am sooo over done with winter. I can’t wait to see some more pictures of your plants. =0)

    Have a wonderful week.

    Mary

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ll be sharing more plant pics soon. Most of them made it through the winter and are already getting larger!

  24. Rachel @Waves of Fiction says:

I agree, words can take you anywhere and make you feel so much! Nice that you had some lovely weather to enjoy as you read. I guess you need a little sunblock, too! 🙂

  25. Stormi D Johnson says:

I noticed you have been reading some romance, I figure it’s good genre breaker as sometimes you need something light between the horror and mysteries. 🙂

  26. Yes ma’am! I get it. My heart belongs to horror, but I read so much more than just horror. 🙂

  27. Daniela Ark says:

I didn’t know you liked horror! (winks) I agree reading is fantastic no matter what genre 🙂
Love the cover of the jade rebellion! Hope is good!

  28. I like the look of the books you’ve gotten. I hope you enjoy them.
