The Dead Girls Of Hysteria Hall
by Katie Alender
My 56
OBSERVATIONS MADE AFTER THE FACT
I hate you. And by the way, tell Janie I hate her, too.
Let me tell you something.
On a cold and loveless night, when the silver moonlight drinks the color from the earth and the grass tumbles in the wind like waves tossed on an endless, angry sea…
That is not the kind of memory that keeps you warm.
I’m about one third into this one and it is scary good!
What…did you hear that? LOL
Read on if you want to know more.
Synopsis
In this asylum, your mind plays tricks on you all the time…
Delia’s new house isn’t just a house. Long ago, it was the Piven Institute for the Care and Correction of Troubled Females—an insane asylum nicknamed “Hysteria Hall.” However, many of the inmates were not insane, just defiant and strong willed. Kind of like Delia herself.
But the house still wants to keep “troubled” girls locked away. So, in the most horrifying way, Delia gets trapped.
And that’s when she learns that the house is also haunted.
Ghost girls wander the halls in their old-fashioned nightgowns. A handsome ghost boy named Theo roams the grounds. Delia finds that all the spirits are unsettled and full of dark secrets. The house, as well, harbors shocking truths within its walls—truths that only Delia can uncover, and that may set her free.
But she’ll need to act quickly, before the house’s power overtakes everything she loves.
From master of suspense Katie Alender comes a riveting tale of twisted memories and betrayals, and the meaning of madness.

Friday Memes
I stayed up and finished it last night. You’re right. She does good YA horror. I even had one teary eyed moment.
I am curious about this one….first of all, because I am enraged when I think about women locked away for being defiant and strong-willed. And I know it happened, back then. I’m not completely sure that we’re more advanced these days.
Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.
You nailed it. They locked up girls and women for having a thought of their own and letting it be known. Just dumped them and forgot about them. I’m not convinced it doesn’t happen now either.
This sounds like a ghost story I’d enjoy. I’m already curious about those troubled women.
My Friday post features The Mirror.
There’s an institute full of these troubled ghosts, young and old. Lots of interesting stories about them.
I’m glad you are enjoying this book. It sounds too scary for me. Thanks for visiting my blog and happy reading!
It’s kind of creepy but not too much. I was intrigued about the ghosts individual stories.
I’ve heard about this book and it seems interesting.
I just finished it and really enjoyed it. These ghosts came across as living and breathing. Even after death, they had issues.
I just got this one! Can’t wait to read it … after my holiday read-a-thon 🙂
I cheated. The book arrived in the mail and I meant to only take a peak. Finished it this morning!
Sounds so creepy! I haven’t read many creepy books because I scare easily, but this novel sounds so good! Thanks for checking out my blog! 🙂
You could probably handle this one. It’s not gory.
Sounds interesting, it caught my interest. Thanks for sharing and for stopping by our blog!
I admit, the title and cover grabbed me first. Such a good read and glad I got it.
This one I definitely wanna read!!! Happy weekend!
I hope you read it Freda. It’s very good:)
Ahhh I’ve really been looking for a good YA horror book! I’ll definitely need to check this one out.
It’s a good one for sure!
I was thinking about picking this one up during October, but ran out of time. Maybe I’ll pick it up soon. Happy Friday!
I hope you do get a chance to read it.
Sounds interesting! Probably too scary for me though. The cover is definitely something.
If you can handle creepy but not terrifying, you’d enjoy it.
Sounds interesting. I haven’t read a horror novel in a long time. I’ll have to check this out.
It’s not gory, just darn creepy:)
This sounds really spooky, right up my alley in fact! Thanks for sharing:-)
A few posts seem to still be in the Halloween mood 😉
