Welcome to The Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice.
This is a really fun meme!
The only rules are to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader and find a sentence or a few (no spoilers) that grabs you and post it.
Then go over to Freda’s Voice and leave your link so we can visit your 56!
My 56 for this week is from:
In The Blue Hour
by Elizabeth Hall
Genre:
From page 56 in the paperback.
“My mother gave them to me when I was fifteen. I didn’t want them, and she knew it. Back then all I wanted was to get away from her, to get away from cards and readings and all that crazy spirit stuff…. But she put them in my hands and told me to save them – that there would come a day when I would need those cards to survive.”

Synopsis
Elise Brooks dreams of a car accident on an icy road. Weeks later, her beloved husband, Michael, is killed in just such a crash. Now, overcome with grief and uncertainty, Elise believes his spirit may be following her in the form of a raven, trying to tell her something from beyond the grave.
Desperate to understand the signs, Elise embraces both the Native American wisdom she grew up with and the world of psychics and seers. So when a tarot-card reader suggests she take a journey to the mysterious address found in Michael’s old jacket, she embarks on a cross-country trek to follow the clues.
Accompanied by Tom Dugan, an engineer and scientist who does not believe in psychics, mediums, or the hoodoo “conjure woman” they encounter on the road, Elise navigates the rituals and omens of the spirit world in an attempt to unravel the mystery of her husband’s message.

I opened this to just take a peek and was swept right in.
Oh my penguins, that cover is SO super stunning–I’d pick this book up off the shelves just to study and pet the pretty! I LOOOOOVE how ominous it seems, too–sets the perfect mood for what sounds like an intriguing and haunting read! I might be looking this up on goodreads; it sounds interesting!
Thank you so much for sharing! Here’s my Friday 56 if you’re interested in taking a look. No worries or pressure if you’re not, though! Either way, happy book-ing to you in the near future…and happy Friday! <3
It’s even more captivating in print form. The cover is textured and it really reaches out to ya.
I am fascinated by tarot cards…and even started “learning” how to read them…in my amateur way. This one sounds intriguing.
Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine: “WHITE TRASH”
I am too! I have some but haven’t learned how to use them yet.
Sounds intriguing! I have a mystery this week – Ill Met by Murder by Elizabeth J. Duncan. Happy reading!
It sure has captured my interest:)
Ooh, so intrigued! Psychics always make interesting protagonists in my opinion. Hope you enjoy your weekend!
They sure do. I’ve never been to one but have been curious. I like them in movies too, especially the scary ones. LOL
Sounds like a good read.
It’s going good so far:)
This sounds really good! I love the 56 and the blurb. I can feel that her mother knows she just wants to leave but wants to protect her anyway. Definitely sounds like an interesting read!
I just got a clear picture of what her mother wanted her to have the cards off. Getting more and more interesting.
