Single and Looking: Daisy
Secret Lives Of Sisters #1
by Belinda Austin
AT FIRST, DAISY IGNORES HER CAT’S DATING ADVICE.
Daisy will turn 40 in eleven months and has never married. Her family figures Daisy is a loser because she is still in college trying to avoid paying off her student loans which have amassed over 22 years of a miseducation. And all Daisy has is a cat to keep her company. To make the crises worse, her cat begins talking to Daisy, when she is sober! The mess of Daisy’s life is even kookier because the cat is cursing and smoking now and drinking more alcoholic beverages. Mm, there must be a connection to all this flowing alcohol, which may explain the bubbly in Daisy’s brain. Her sisters and mother insist on setting Daisy up on six blind dates and all the men are named after liquor.
A heartwarming, LOL book that will make you smile.
Enjoy the peek inside:
Her heart stopped at the sound of claws coming down the hallway.
What is that rolling sound?
There was the sound of heavy breathing at the door followed by, “I brought you a bottle of wine, dearie,” the cat said, cackling like an old witch.
She tiptoed over to the door. “I suppose you have a poisoned apple, too, in that filthy paw of yours.”
“I didn’t bring a wormy apple. Would you like a nice unopened bottle of Pinot Noir instead?”
Daisy twisted a fist in her yellow Adult Cinderella nightgown. Her big toe stuck out of her slippers. She did not drink this early in the day or was even up on a Saturday morning, but her sisters had banged on the bedroom window. Aunt Davina slammed a picture of Jesus against the window and screamed, “Pray to God, Daisy, that The Man watching football from the clouds will toss you a husband as good as my John! Maybe you will catch a Matthew or a Peter!”
“I dated a Peter once and he was really a dick,” Daisy yelled back.
Given the day she was having, a morning drink could hit the I-feel-good-about-myself spot right on.
Daisy should act strong and tell the cat to go catch a mouse.
On the other hand, a stiff drink would calm the lizards jogging around her brain. The mind racing was due to her new mad-as-a-hatter relationship with her cat.
“Uh, a glass of wine would be good,” she squeaked.

This looks like a lot of fun.
Doesn’t it. Sounds fun and the cover keeps drawing me back. I love quirky covers!
Lovely of you to say, Mary. Thanks, Belinda
I enjoy getting to read about books we had not known about previously for my family. We have found some great ones through these tours so thanks so much.
I do too, James! Never can have enough fun books:)
Yes, James, this is a great blog for discovering new books.
Thanks for hosting!
I’m thrilled to share this fun book:)
Backatcha! I’m thrilled for you to share my book, Laura.
Your book sounds fun and so does your characters. And the cover is so adorable:)
I’m glad I didn’t have a mouthful of coffee when I opened this email! That cover is hilarious!
Thanks so much. I did the cover myself. I searched and searched for a cover to purchase and of course, none reflected my crazy book. I used to be a web developer but rarely make my own covers nowadays because I’m busy working on new books. And there are some wonderful covers out there made by some talented people. BUT, I have created 7 covers for my Secret Lives of Sisters series. It helped to make all the covers since it provided some character development and hints of story lines to come. Now I just have to write the other six books!
LOL, this looks like a fun read! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Kimberly, for your lovely comment on my book!
Delightful, entertaining and lovely. Thanks.
Thank you, Anne, for taking the time to comment on my book.

I will be hanging around most of the day so drop in if you would like to chat in any way shape or form. In the meantime, have a nice day! Belinda
That is a cute cover. Love the cat!
Thanks, Cathy. My own cat named Shakespeare (yes, I modeled the cat after mine, including the name) is, also, greyish though not fat. I have dreamt several times of my cat speaking to me in English though he didn’t quote William Shakspeare.
oh my just reading the titel I get anxious. I don’t want to be single and looking ever again in my life! LOL the books sounds fun!!!
Well, Daisy has her cat to give her dating advice, and her sisters to set her up on some crazy blinds dates. But, I’m with you. I wouldn’t care to be single again either.
This one looks like a lot of fun.
Thanks, Yvonne, for your lovely words on my new release.
Bwahahahaha Laura just the graphic and cover had me in hysterics! God knows I need this so thank you 😉
Oh, my goodness! Your name “Beware of the Reader” has me in stitches! I think I’ll pretend not to be the author of Single and Looking, Daisy and the cover creator.
This book sounds like a really great read.
Why thank you, thank you very much, Debbie. (said in my best Elvis voice.)
Love the cover! Looks like a really fun read.
Thanks, Dianne. I did the cover myself after not being able to find out to suit my crazy book. The book is a lot of fun as the sample shows from the audio book: You can play it at my website: http://www.authorbelinda.com
Have a nice Saturday!
Looks like a laugh!
Thanks, Jamie and have a lovely Sunday!
Any writing advice?
Mm, let’s see, what writing advice would I give? Well, don’t ever try to force a book, just let it flow. When you think of an idea for a book, if it starts coming, such as characters, dialogue, plot then start writing. You have a book and if you’re passionate about the idea, even better!
If the idea, no matter how great, doesn’t blow up your mind, then don’t struggle to write the book.
Finally, if you’re having a hard time say with the ending, or some other part of the book, put it down and start a new book. Trust me. Your subconscious (one of them) will continue to work on the old book and voila! it will come to you eventually. And when it does, you’ll finish that book. So don’t worry about writer’s block. Just relax and let your mind be in control.
What was the best writing gift you’ve received?
A quote for my book Return of the Bones, Inspired by a True Native American Story (Written by my pen name Belinda Vasquez Garcia) from the late, great Tony Hillerman.
This looks hilarious – I’d really like to read it!
It does sound fun and so is the cover!
Thanks, Sally. The book is LOL funny. check out the trailer and audio book sample on my website http://authorbelinda.com
What was your favourite book as a kid?
I fell in love with Tom Sawyer the summer I was turning 8. The book was the first novel I ever read, loaned to me by my 13 year-old neighbor. I read that book front to back 10 times that summer. That summer was the summer I fell madly in love with fiction.
