Making a list. Merry’s life is Christmas chaos. Her divorce is still in question. She’s behind on crafting orders. Ebenezer is an escape artist. And with one day left, she hasn’t completed the line-up for the annual Christmas parade, thanks to one grinch. Once Merry knows the Christmas secret, she realizes Santa isn’t what’s coming to town.

Checking it twice. Santa’s naughty list, courtesy of Jenna Wilcox, will roll down Main Street with names of residents who deserve a lump of coal in their stocking. Saving the parade won’t be easy, but Merry is up to task. Or so she thinks until she discovers Jenna’s body stashed in Santa’s sack.

Going to find out. As facts are unwrapped, Merry finds the line blurred between who’s naughty and nice. As threats are aimed at her and those she loves, Merry dashes for the truth before the murderer puts her on the naughty list and crosses her off for good.

About Author Christina Freeburn

Christina Freeburn has always loved books. There was nothing better than picking up a story and being transported to another place. The love of reading evolved into the love of writing and she’s been writing since her teenage years. Her first novel was a 2003 Library of Virginia Literary Award nominee. Her mysteries series, Faith Hunter Scrap This Mystery and Merry & Bright Handcrafted Mysteries, are a mix of crafty and crime and feature heroines whose crafting time is interrupted by crime solving.

Christina served in the US Army and has also worked as a paralegal, librarian, church secretary, and golf shop pro. She lives in West Virginia with her husband, dog, and a rarely seen cat except by those who are afraid and allergic to felines.

I love decorating the house and Christmas tree.

  2. noraadrienne says:

Unfortunately we don’t do Christmas. We have the Festival of Lights, Channukah. We turn 20lbs of potatoes into Latkes and we eat “sufganiot” which is fried donut dough in a ball shape. Either with or without filling. The grandkids light the Menorah while singing the prayers and the parents’ and grandparent’s shell out a month’s rent worth of gifts to each of the children.

  3. the decorations. i don’t like putting them up as much as i used to. don’t know if i’m getting lazy or it’s just hard doing it all, but i do love them once they are up. it’s all about the lights. can never have too many of them 🙂

  4. Kay Garrett says:

The thing I love most about Christmas is the memories – both from the past and those we create now to be remembered later. My fondest memories are my Mom and I baking all the holiday goodies from scratch. Spending time together while she taught me about the love of baking and sharing. After we got all the goodies baked, we would then make up little boxes with some of everything in them that we delivered to friends, family, elder and shut ins. It’s where I learned to love sharing the bounty of my kitchen with others. I can remember my brother and I spending hours while on Christmas break decorating the cut out sugar cookies. As I look back, I can see how sneaky Mom was teaching us to share and to be creative all the while keeping us busy and not bickering. I can see her smiling in my mind. Treasured memories – especially now that both she and my brother have gone to their heavenly home.

Christmas is a time to share and to think of others instead of ourselves. It’s a time to remember the past, treasure the present (our greatest Christmas present) and look forward to more to come.

Thank you for being part of the book tour for “Better Watch Out” by Christina Freeburn and for the opportunity to win a copy. Sharing and hoping.

  7. peggy clayton says:

I love the memories that we make. I grew up in foster homes so from my early years i have no memories except some really bad ones and those are the ones i want to get rid of . So i decorate the house and outside we also decorate it and then i get a new christmas stocking for every grandchild prior to that it was the kids I am from Ca and he lived in Iowa . My kids were adults so I went alone but every year they get a stocking with their initial on it and then it is filled with personal things for them. One Christmas we were in the foster home and a social worker came up to us and brought 15 stockings all filled well i was the oldest at the time so we hung them all up and finally we all got something and that was a memory that stuck with me for 50 yrs and i still do it. I also put inside a hallmark ornament and a few other things for them then they also get what they wanted for christmas. We mail all the Ca to there and we stay home and the best thing uis the calls that we get from the kids that they love their new stocking and by the time they are 18 they will have many for thier own house which was the purpose of this entire gift. I want them to remember that grandma always gave or mailed the stockings. When my kids were with me we would bake and bake cookies their grandma made and ones they like and everything . They would take their teacher the thing that they wantedd and then we woud start on our own christmas. Usually my daughter went with my ex husband for the other side of the family christmas while she was gone we went to midnight mass and then they would bring her back Thank you peggy clayton ptclayton2@aol.com
