Some chit chat.
It’s Mardi Gras time here and it brings back so many fun memories of when I’d go to the parades and come home laden with beads and stuff. Of preparing for a ball, donning my sequined gown and tripping the light fantastic all night long. Now I prefer to stay at home and watch the parades on television.Β A lot of people think that Mardi Gras originated in New Orleans, when in fact it started in Mobile, Alabama. Let the good times roll!
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

My new books. Only one this week but it sure looks and sounds scary good!
Synopsis
WHO WILL LIVE WHEN CONQUEST BURNS?
Tensions are running high in the small mountain town of Conquest, Idaho. Newly elected Sheriff Heather Hill is on one side, toxic and corrupt Mayor JH Bieter on the other, a standoff in a culture war. With a wildfire approaching, battle lines begin to form. As the cold war heats up, Heather and JH are at each otherβs throats.
But they have more to worry about than the fire.
The Pack has arrived in Conquest.
A ravenous gang of bestial shapeshifters, they are hungry and eager to show their dominance. Conquest makes a perfect target. Now Heather, JH, and the people of Conquest must fight for survival as blood and ash fill the streets

Hello Laura, I am just stopping by from Kimberly’s Sunday Post. I hope you have enjoyed watching the parades from the comfort of your own home.
Here’s what I’ve been doing this week: https://thebookwormchronicles.wordpress.com/2020/02/16/sunday-reflection-16th-february-2020/ π
Hi Jessica:) Thanks for stopping by. The parades are fun to watch from my couch now. LOL
I had no iead mardi gras originated in Alabama Laura! Well enjoy the show on television π
I was surprised when I learned that about Mardi Gras. It has an intriguing history.
I have never been to Mardi Gras. It always looks crazy though. So, like you, I watch from afar. That book is on the scarier side, but I should file it away incase I cannot find an ID book for this year. I rarely come across books set in that state.
Come to think of it, I don’t recall reading a book set there either.
In Mobile? Huh, how ’bout that? Thanks for the freebie links.:-)
Yep, Mobile! Happy to share the freebies. I try not to grab all of them myself. LOL
Mardi Gras is one thing I have never been interested in though it always looks interesting…lol. With the things I have heard that goes on at those things I would stay home and watch on tv too! π Though the one is Alabama might not be as bad as New Orleans.
Enjoy your new read!

Week in Review
The one in my town is the safest one. It does get crazy when you have so many people come from all over to party. LOL
always appreciate your shares

Thanks, Sherry!
What an interesting fact about the Mardi Gras – and I always (somewhat vaguely) assumed it was about Easter, which it clearly isn’t… Thank you for the information. Love that cover for Conquest – how cool is that? Have a great week, Laura:)
It’s origins are fascinating, Sarah. Conquest looks super creepy. LOL
I did not know that about Mardi Gras!! Wow, you learn something new every dayπ
When I moved here, I thought it started in New Orleans. People set me straight pretty quick. LOL
Ha! You learn something new every day, I thought New Orleans was where the celebrations began too! I almost always forget about Mardi Gras, but I imagine if I lived somewhere were it was such a big deal and so much was going on I would remember. Sounds like a lot of fun, though I’d probably be like you and be happier at home nowadays.
Have a great week!
New Orleans does it up big, but Mobile is pretty wild too. A little less crazy here in Fairhope. I’m not into the scene anymore. Done it for many years already:)
I cannot imagine NOLA during Mardi Gras. Insane!!
Mobile is crazy too. It’s a bit less crowded and safer in Fairhope, where I live.
I haven’t ever been to a Mardi gras but would love to. Always looks awesome. Although probably would have been more fun when I was younger lol.
Ooh fun looking books. I’ll have to check out Snowball.
It was fun, but I’m over those crowds now. LOL Snowball was a wild read.
Well I’ve visited both NOLA and Mobile but not for Mardi Gras. I’m with you on the staying home. It’s crazy enough when it is not Mardi Gras. We went to the museum in NOLA though when we visited. Mostly, we loved eating seafood in both towns!
I hope you are taking care of yourself as you seem to be working all the time these days. Have a lovely week!
I do love the seafood. And there are so many great places to visit. I am working a lot and finally starting to feel better after I caught something nasty. Thanks!
Mardi Gras has always sounded fun to me. I hope you’ll have fun watching the parade.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I do enjoy watching them on the telly now. LOL I don’t have to fight those crowds and I have so much memorabilia from past parades already.
I had no idea that Mardi Gras started in Mobile. How interesting!
I was surprised to learn it too and had to go research it.
I did not know that about Mardi Gras! It’s basically synonymous with NOLA at this point – although everyone gets in on the act these days.

Until I moved here, I always thought New Orleans too.
I’d love to attend a proper Mardi Gras! I’ll admit that it’s something I associate with New Orleans so it’s interesting to know it originated elsewhere! π
It is something I’d recommend if you ever get the chance. Lots of excitement!
I had no idea it actually originated in Alabama! That is so interesting!
Happy reading and have a great week! π
I know. Most people think New Orleans because of how famous the parades are there.
I never knew Mardi Gras began in Alabama. That’s interesting! I wonder why it moved locales. That’s really cool that you used to attend. I’ve always wanted to go at least once in my life. Seems like a blast. Have a great week!
It’s origins are fascinating and it sure has evolved.
I’ve always wanted to go to Mardi Gras. I didn’t know it originated in Alabama. All those books look so good. Enjoy! Have a great week!
I used to attend the parades every year. They are fun but I’m just over those crowds now.
Have a great Mardi Gras! Iβd love to see that someday. We donβt have it here. π
The parades are fun. Lots of awesome floats and music.
Ooh look at that book cover! Big hairy scary monsters! I’m off to check out the reviews!
LOL! I have high hopes for this one.
Didn’t know Mardi Gras started in Alabama. Yay for good memories! Falling for Alaska looks good. π
Falling For Alaska does sound good. I’m in the mood for a bit of romance right now:)
Mardis Gras!! SO much fun! We typically just celebrate with a pancake dinner, but I would love to go to a real celebration some day. Enjoy your reads this week. π
A co worker and I did dress up for work. I got out some of my best beads and wore the Mardi Gras colors.
Conquest looks awesome and you’ve also sold me on the Oz book as well as the dog ones. Dangerous week for visiting here!
LOL I thought you’d spot those dogs!
