Check out this STUNNING cover for Angel of Shadow, book 2 of the fabulous Wormwood series. The first book was dark and brimming with tormented love, and was known for completely sucking readers into the story, only to spit them out again at 3 am. I can’t wait to see what book 2 has in store for us! Angel of Shadow is scheduled for release on January 13, 2018, and if this cover image is any indication of how good this story will be, I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to wait!!!!

Fun Fact:

While I’m trying to write, eating chips (or crisps) is a huge distraction. Yet I never learn! Or maybe I enjoy chips too much. It’s the same every time. I write for a while, then arbitrarily decide I need a break. So I get a bowl of my favourites (usually dill pickle or salt and vinegar) and sit down to continue writing. But then my fingers get all gross and chippy and I definitely don’t want both my hands on my keyboard. It’s writing self-sabotage! So then I’m “forced” to munch away while scrolling through social media sites with my clean hand. I really should enforce a “no chips” rule on myself when I’m in writing mode! ~D.H.

Fun Fact:

As a child, I never really took to reading much. I tolerated it, but I never loved it. Then, one day in grade 7, I picked up Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. As I read it, I was struck by the description, and could instantly visualize the setting. That was a turning point for me. It was like someone had suddenly switched on a projector in my head—and I was hooked. After that, my young reading life was peppered with Tolkien and Stephen King. Those reading experiences have influenced me and my writing to this day.

Both Wormwood and the sequel, Angel of Shadow were written where elements from the beginning of the story are repeated at the end of the book, but where each element is, a) completely opposite, b) a juxtaposition, or c) a role reversal from how it was represented at the beginning. She has notes on scraps of paper, on the backs of bills and junk mail, in her phone, in about 5 different notebooks, and in various files on her laptop.

This book sounds so fun. It would be a dream job to deal in books. I love my local used book store. I can spend hours browsing through the paperbacks. I also haunt thrift shops frequently, looking for that hidden gem.

Also, I’m a southern gal and the story is set in a neighboring state. I can relate to the possum on the half shell on the cover. LOL
