The Dead Beats

Tristan and his band are a sensation. Their rock concerts are jam-packed show after show. There’s nothing he loves more than performing before a screaming mass of fans. Well, except for her.

Alex loves Tristan, can’t keep her hands off him. There’s just one problem. He’s a vampire, but that’s not the problem. The problem is he wants to make her one too.  As much as Alex loves Tristan, she doesn’t want to become a vampire.

He loved feeling her beneath him, her warm, beating body that knew his own so well. His next words were muffled into her curls but Alex heard him.

“I don’t have you completely. This world is so dangerous. You know that more than anyone Alex.”

“Shh, please,” she murmured and kissed the top of his head.

Alex doesn’t know how much longer she can put him off. Tristan is losing patience. She knows what she has to do and wishes there were any other way.

I became so wrapped up in this struggle between Alex and Tristan. I wanted her to become a vampire so she’d be with Tristan forever, but I understood her refusal. I don’t think I could wrap my mind around the idea of drinking blood for all eternity.

I wanted Tristan to have Alex by his side forever. But he is young and foolish and pushes her too hard. I don’t trust him not to force her.

The Deadbeats is the first chapter in the lives of Tristan and Alex. They are insatiable and incorrigible. The sexual scenes are hot and steamy, Oh My!  This story is exciting and startling. If you think you know what’s going to happen, think again.

Stick around. I have more to tell.

The Old Vampire (Short Story)

goodreads-badge-add-plus for awaken

Hailey’s dreams aren’t about a knight in shining armor riding up on his white steed to rescue her. Her knight is a vampire, or maybe a demon or ghost. Any of these would do.

She’s longed for the supernatural world her whole life. Is she really destined to a hum-drum existence or is there something more for her.

She dreams and she waits. And she waits. And waits. Will she ever meet her knight?

It’s Halloween night. All of the candy has been handed out and the trick-or-treaters have all gone home. Hailey settles in with some wine and a movie.

There’s a knock on her door. Must be a straggler.

The lantern led me to you.”

What a great story. Melancholic and tragic. Quite scary too. When do you stop dreaming? Why should you? You’ll find the answers to these questions in An Old Vampire.

This one gave me shivers. A true horror story.

Night Sighs

goodreads-badge-add-plus for awaken

It’s good to be alive…when you’re dead!

Meet Alex & Tristan, modern star-crossed lovers of the supernatural variety.
Alex is running-on-empty, one year on from the death of her fiancé, and the only thing that keeps her going is her romance with the young vampire Tristan. Tristan, meanwhile has a serious obsession with Bruce Springsteen, and is battling a ‘can’t live without you’ sort of love for Alex. He’s trying to persuade her to come over to the dark side but so far she’s resisting his efforts.

So come and sing along to Tristan’s band, The Dead Beats, the hottest group in London right now, and walk with Alex as she teeters between this life and the next. Because when you’re around Tristan, you’ll see, how much fun it is to be alive when you’re dead….

Night Sighs is an adult paranormal romance, following the relationship & adventures of Tristan & Alex through five short stories: The Dead Beats, The Ancients, Until My Body Is Dust, Bourbon & Jazz and West of Forever.

About the author

Emma Meade

Author of Nights Sighs, Under the Desert Moon and The Awakenings & Other Stories.

Emma Meade writes paranormal fiction. She lives in rainy Ireland and loves all things supernatural. Stephen King’s The Stand is one of her most loved books. Books, DVDS & TV show boxsets take up lots of space in her home and she collects all the Point Horror books she can get her hands on. She is not ashamed to admit that Dirty Dancing and Twilight make her top ten movie list but wishes to point out that The Last of the Mohicans, Reality Bites, Dead Poets Society, Stand by Me and The Goonies are in there too.

Writing supernatural stories & watching marathon re-runs of Buffy are some of her favourite ways of escaping reality.

  1. I just love the sunshine far too much to be a vampire. I would last for approximately 4 days before I had to see the sunlight!
    sarah(dot)elizabeth(dot)bookworm(at)gmail(dot)com

  2. I would hate to continually see those whom I love and care for die while I continued to live.

  3. jannashay says:

Great reviews. I wouldn’t want to live forever or drink blood for all eternity.

    janna@jannashay.com

  4. Sherry says:

I don’t know if I could last that long Sarah. I go into a depression when it gets cloudy. LOL Thanks for the great giveaway, Laura. You are always giving me something to add to my Goodreads shelf. I don’t think I can read them all in this lifetime, so maybe it would be a trade-off, read versus sun. Being a vampire, I could read forever.

  5. Emma says:

Thanks Laura. Great reviews & cheers for mentioning my other books.

  6. Lolita Hokens says:

Why wouldn’t you want to become a vampire?

because i wouldn’t like to see all the people i love dieing before my eyes..
i wouldn’t like to leave my lover behind my back, and live a whole long life with out him…
    it is harrrrrrrrrrrrrrd

  7. Because, in this moment, I don’t know for sure if my family will be safe. In rest I’m OK with… eventually

  8. jaxgrampy says:

There are many reasons I wouldn’t want to be a vampire, but probably my main concern would be this: It would be bad enough to have somebody wanting you dead for even a few days. But to know the entire WORLD wants you dead, and you would be on the run or in hiding FOREVER, is just too much to take. I think after a very short time as a vampire, I would stake myself outside somewhere where the sun would be sure to fry me the next morning. I just couldn’t handle being alive forever under those conditions. Plus, I think a vampire must have awfully bad breath all the time; not cool.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Never thought about that. Wouldn’t want the neighbors showing up with stakes and torches!

All the new vampires smell great, or so I’m told!

Sent you an email! Keep your eye out for it!

  9. Hmmm, I think I could take all the rest expect for one thing – – I’m overweight a little so, I like food and it seems to me that the thirst is quite strong so I would bing drink!! Uhm, can you get like obese from blood gorging? hahahha

    emilymarie070750@gmail.com

  10. Kim says:

I wouldn’t want to be a vampire because I would hate to see my friends and family die off and I would still be around.

  11. I wouldn’t want to because I would have to watch all my loved ones die.

    lakeyg@yahoo.com

  12. […] Thomas, from FUONLYKNEW is currently hosting a giveaway of these stories. If they’ve caught your eye, hop over and […]

  13. Melanie says:

There are many factors that being a vampire doesn’t sound like fun…drinking blood, watching everyone I know die over time, never being in the sunshine again, being hunted even if you aren’t the bad guy/girl. There would be perks too but you’d have to ask yourself which out weighs the other.

  14. Pragya says:

For one, they drink blood. Second, can’t go out in the sun. Third, they are too pale. Fourth, they live forever ( umm who wants to live forever, right?)

    Pragya
    reviewing.shelf@gmail.com

  15. Claire Taylor says:

I would be a useless vampire, get all dizzy when I see blood
    Darkmotive@hotmail.com

  16. Beth Hoover says:

It would seriously screw up my beach and sailing time…but I think I’d really not like the drinking blood thing them most.

  17. Pam says:

I’m a strict vegetarian. I’d die a shriveled up husk before I’d let a drop of blood go down this gullet.

    bittergodwin@gmail.com

  18. Dii says:

I could never give the sun! Although, being able to read 24/7 would be a big plus! Not sure I could give up food!

  19. Kay LaLone says:

I don’t like the taste or sight of blood.
    kaylalone(at)yahoo (dot)com

    • fuonlyknew says:

I don’t mind a tiny taste. like a pin prick on your finger, but that’s it. And only my own!

I don’t like the sight of blood because I know someone is hurt but I’m not squeamish.

  20. I would not want to become a vampire unless I died and it was my only choice. I am a mother and have a son to take care of so I would hate to only be thinking of quenching my thirst and leave him without his mother. He means the world to me. jaclynrcanada@gmail.com

  21. Jeanette says:

To live forever with the one I love.

  22. Kellie Harrington says:

kelleeh.73@gmail.com I wouldnt want to be a vampire because with my disability I need a lot of sunshine 🙂

  23. Watching everyone else die around me is truly awful. Also no sun and not being able to eat any food, just drink blood. Yeah, not really appealing. Great giveaway. Added all of these to my wishlist. Thank you so much 🙂

    drharleyquinn87@gmail.com

  24. Genuine Jenn says:

There are pros and cons. I would love to live forever as long as I had my loved ones with me. I would sure miss the sun but to have all the time in the world to read and blog would be great. I’m sort of like a vampire now I stay up all night long and sleep in the day only sometimes. I work overnights 🙂

Both these books sound great! Infogenuinejenn at g mail dot com

  25. Denise Z says:

Well if changing would turn me into a super svelte beauty with uber powers, I just might consider it, but from what I understand you are what you are at the change so – don’t think I want to go that route. Besides the diet would kill me – I must have coffee and chocolate 😉 Thank you for sharing with us, I am looking forward to the reads and finding more about them.

  26. julie ramsey says:

Would go great on my review site..
If u would like a review let me know. Imortality would be why i would like to b a vamp. To witness history unfold

  27. Hi I’m a new follower and I really love your blog!! Your reviews are great and I’ve added all the books to my TBR pile 🙂 . . . I think the main reason I wouldn’t want to be a vampire is my children (ooh and husband!!!). . vampires always have to leave their families and I’m not sure I could do that 🙁 xx

  28. Dreams*Link says:

If I had someone to keep me company I guess it could work for me. I would love to have unlimited time to spend learning, reading, traveling… There are many disadvantages, but I could get used to if I had to do it.
    dreams_link_didy@yahoo.com

  29. Marianne Houghtaling says:

The perks of being a vampire are really great. However, at this point in my life, I would not want to be one because when you turn you are the age forever you are at, and I am now 65. Really! I know vampires are hundreds and thousands years old but they don’t look it. Now, if I was bitten 40 years ago, I would have given you a different answer. Thanks for this wonderful giveaway!

  30. I love the sun (it doesn’t love me); the worst would be seeing my family, friends and especially my children grow old and die, it would break my heart, I hate seeing them sick, so watching them, even if from afar, grow old and pass away while I stayed the same would be heartbreaking.
