I’m thrilled to hear there will be a fourth book in this awesome series, Cold Blood. This is great news!

Warning: This is the third book in the series. I’ll try not to put in any spoilers.

Here’s a bit about the book:

Vampire Emma Hammond and her best friend and roommate Tammy Torres have rarely had a disagreement, but that’s all about to change. Apart from hating each other’s boyfriends, the duo have more monumental problems to deal with, like controlling Emma’s growing and increasingly dangerous bloodlust and trying to get blood stains out of the carpets. And when new witch Tammy joins a coven whose leader’s lust for power knows no bounds, Emma is unwittingly pulled into their plan.
.
My Review
In this third book, the witches are the main players.
Our furry friend David is present and, of course, Emma is the star.
Em brings her wry wit and humor to the story. I swear she can’t stay out of trouble. And she has her hands full with scheming witches and Alex is sniffing around again. He is persistent and still wants Emma. Just, now isn’t the right time, not when the head of the vampires, who is his boss, wants her dead.
.
Emma’s having a hard time controlling her thirst. She does a big no-no and drains a certain someone to death.

This may be my favorite part of the story. The way it happened and how Emma dealt with it had me cracking up. She is truly becoming more vampirish with each book, leaving more of her humanity behind.

Witchy little Amy sure grows up fast. She’s quite the clever young thing and pulls a fast one on everybody.

Best friend, Tammy, has problems with Em. Tammy understands Em’s a vampire, but wishes she had better control. There’s no excuse for what she did.

These two roomies are like soul sisters. I hope they can patch things up.

“Who would have thought that when we met, almost twenty years ago, that we would end up like this?”

“You mean as being two supernatural creatures we thought didn’t even exist?”

“Yes, that. And also living together and being just as close as we were the first day we decided to trade Barbies.”

I remember my very first best friend and the hours, days, and years we stuck together like glue. The closeness between these two makes this story genuine, makes it come to life.

Must not forget, there are some big surprises in store for you, and a few witches you’ll want to bitch slap. You’ll know who.

When I read the last page I didn’t want it to end. And then I discovered the author had added the first chapter of Cold Blood, the next book in this series. It is so freakin good! I can’t wait to read the entire book.

Donna, you are such a tease! Write fast:)

5 Stars! Bring on Cold Blood!

Emma Hammond is a normal young woman living in New York City whose life changes forever when one misstep brings her very close to death. Luckily, Alex Thompson, a handsome stranger (who also happens to be a vampire), jumps in to save her, turning Emma into a vampire. She quickly discovers the numerous advantages (no more allergies, glasses, or acne) and slight drawbacks (wanting to eat her boyfriend) of joining the ranks of the creatures of the night. But Emma soon finds out her new undead life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when she gets pulled in to an age-old dispute between two feuding vampire clans.

Wild Blood (Vampire in the City #2)

goodreads-badge-add-plus

Recently-turned vampire Emma Hammond is not only getting used to her undead lifestyle, but also to living with her new and unlikely roommates–her human best friend Tammy, and David, a werewolf. While the girls speculate as to possible drawbacks to having such a fuzzy tenant (shedding and marking of territory, to name a few), nothing will prepare them for the dispute that is to come between the NYC clan of vampires and an upwardly-mobile werewolf pack from the suburbs. Will Emma be able to get out of it with both her undead life, and her blossoming friendship with David, intact? And, perhaps more importantly, will she be able to choose between Alex Thompson, her sire and sometimes lover, and James, a slightly-unhinged vampire with a mysterious past?

  Loved it! Howling for more!

Donna also was so generous and allowed me to have a giveaway for each book and she took time out from her busy schedule to sit down for an interview. She also let the roomies stop in for an interview. We had a lot of fun and I hope to have Donna and the girls back again!

  1. Sorry Laura…. you know my answer it’s always going to be Vampires. I mean, nothing against Witches, they are cool for sure. But there is just… ahhh… something totally sexy about a Vampire. YOU ALREADY KNEW I was going to say that didn’t you? guido.emily@gmail.com Lots of love, Emily

      Who ya caliin punk, chickie!

      • Sherry says:

LOL I knew everyone would pick vampires, so I had to make at least one vote for witches. I agree with Emily and Tiffany. I have read a lot of vampire books since blogging, but a witch can make a nice change of pace. Oh yeah, I harassed your fish. LOL

  3. Tiffany says:

I love your response Sherry! 🙂

I have nothing against witches but after reading so many vamp novels, I have developed a soft spot for them. So yeah, I tend to prefer vampires. Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. Vampires are my choice. I have some minor health issues and that living forever with the no illness thing REALLY tickles my giblets. lol

I am happy to see a book that infuses both though – very cool concept.

  11. Denise Z says:

I really like to mix it up. I love it when they are all in play, but my first choice of read is generally witches. However, when all the supes get together is when I have the best time. I have not read this series and only skimmed the review for that reason, but I think it sounds like a really fun series. Thank you for sharing and for the awesome giveaway opportunity.

  12. Johnni says:

I have had a thing for vampires from a very young age. Zombies has recently by passed vampires in the media for popularity, however, I will always be TEAM VAMPIRE!

  13. Hi, I am not sure which I like better than the other, they are all living beings, sort-of 🙂

But I have always had an affinity for witches and for shape-shifters, they are so intimately entwined, To Rule or be ruled, The trinity of maiden, mother, crone, vs. the moon in all her wonderous, protective and ever vengeance seeking, rule of the night. Mmm.. very difficult choice here.

And Vampires, that wonderful gift of never changing, never growing any older than they were at that one pivotal moment in their history. Now instead of participating in history they are forever sidelined to witness the atrocities of mankind which can be so very much worse than they whom they inflict.

Such a choice makes my head spin from the possibilities.

    I choose them ALL!

My Email is left below but it’s elaine dot anacortes dot personal at g/ mail dot and well, you know the rest of it 🙂
    Happy Hunting everyone!

  20. Danielle Silva says:

Which do you like more, witches or vampires? I have to say that a like both, but if I had to pick just one, it would definitely be vamps!!!! 🙂

  21. Mark says:

I’ve been writing them for so long, starting when I wrote my first short story, so naturally vampires.

  22. bnacole86@yahoo.com

Vampires or witches? Jeez, that’s a tough one. I would probably go with witches. I like them both but to have awesome powers, especially if their like Bonnies and can kick vamp butt, is fascinating. Still a tough choice though.

  23. daenor23 says:

I know vampires have been the ‘It Monster’ of the Paranormal/Horror world for a good ten years at least, and the inundation of Twilight merchandise and poorly-written Young Adult fiction on the topic has made the general public collectively gag at the mere sound of the word ‘vampire’, but because my first experience with anything Vampire was through the Vampire Chronicles of Anne Rice, I will always choose vampires, hands down.
Witches have their place, but it’s very obvious today that they do exist: there’s a weirdness about them – in the full measure of the word – but the mystique is gone. I enjoy the vampire world(s) because there is still that element of The Unknown. People say they don’t exist, but they just might. Then again, can we know for sure?
    DUNHDUNHDUNNNNNNH….

  24. Rorie says:

Vampires, always vampires. After that, it’s the wolves and the shifters or the angels. Witches are not high on my list unless its Alex Craft.

  25. Rose Milligan says:

I think witches. Thanks for having the giveaway.

  26. Lacey says:

I love both. It’s so hard to choose. I’ve read so many vampire ones, but there are not very many good witch books in my opinion. I absolutely love The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, which is an amazing witch series! So I’m going to go with witches, because I feel like vampires are overused! 🙂

    lakeyg@yahoo.com

    • fuonlyknew says:

Vampires are in the spotlight but there are some good witch stories. I’ve heard great things about The Hollows series. Now, need to find time to read them:)

  27. kenglish32 says:

Vampires always keep me reading till the wee hours. Definitely vampires 🙂

  28. jaxgrampy says:

I’m probably going to disqualify myself here; I’m a big fan of the werewolves. Definitely like them better than either witches or vampires (or zombies, for that matter). About the only thing I’d pick over werewolves would be Bigfoot, but since Bigfoot is actually a real, living, honest-to-goodness but so far undocumented animal/creature, I’m not sure that would count. So sorry, but I just couldn’t choose either of the choices offered, so like I said, I’m disqualified.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Aah, the wolves. I love the furry beasties! Now you say Bigfoot is real, eh? Show me! I’d love to believe it. Maybe it’s best if we don’t get proof. Mystery and the unknown are needed.

  29. Melanie says:

Witches are cool, but I have to go with vampires. There’s more mystery with vamps.

  30. barbara bolich says:

it would have to be witches.

  31. Witches! Thank you for the giveaway!

  32. Penumbra says:

What? No Werewolves? O.o They would have been my first choice but I guess it’ll have to be Witches. I’ve never been that big a fan of vampires.

    penumbrareads(at)gmail(dot)com

  33. daenor23 says:

Vampires all the way! Much more mysterious!
    Also, excellent review!!!

  34. daenor23 says:

Vampires all the way, every time!!! Great review!!!

  35. kahlolily says:

Hmm, I would have to say that in books I prefer the Vampire genre however lately it’s getting a little tedious reading the same thing over and over.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve been very lucky and just finished a few vamp books with something new. This series is awesome. You get several supernatural beings and each book has a different one playing the starring role. Really fun!

  36. Thanks for the awesome giveaway 🙂 Vampires are always yummy and I wouldn’t mind one biting me 😉 Of course it would need to be a vamp from PNR and not a horror book 🙂

  41. Alisa Ables says:

As far as characters in books go I love vampires the best, but if they existed in real life I am sure I would rethink my answer. Especially if I accidentally met one on a dark night 😉

  42. Witches!!!!

    josiehink122026(at)gmail(dot)com

  43. Max Bolich says:

Werewolfs, actually, but Witches are almost as interesting!

  44. Iris says:

Sorry, I prefer shifters actually, but between witches and vampires, I’d have to pick vampires.
