Some chit chat.

It was a hot and busy week at work so I came home every day and dove into my house. AAH! The delicious AC! LOL I don’t know how they did it before it was invented.

One thing that still feels like spring here on the Gulf Coast is the cooler mornings and low humidity before that scorching sun builds it up and you are trying to breath that moist air.

I spend most mornings enjoying a hot cup of tea on my back porch and start my weekend mornings there too. This is my outdoor office. I’m working now.

Nice, eh?!  When I’m not reading or on my computer, I pick up my gardening tools and tweak things and plunge in the pool to cool off. I’m in Heaven:)

And I want to thank everyone for your helpful comments about what eReader I should buy last week. You ALL Rock!

I made up my mind and this recently arrived in my mailbox. Yeah!

Yep, I chose the Paperwhite and am learning about all of the bells and whistles now. I love it!

And for all the moms and soon to be moms out there, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

happy mothers day photo: HAPPY MOTHERS DAY mom-2.gif

My mother is flying down and arrives next Wednesday. I can’t wait to see her!. She’ll be here for five months. I have a brother and a sister that live close by and we all fight over her. LOL She’s my best friend and an angel on this planet. I can only hope I’m as a great a mother to my son as she is to me. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. I love you so much!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

Here are my new books for review.

I was thrilled to be offered Special Passage. I’ve read the other three and love this series.

And I was also thrilled to get Terminal. I’ve read the first three books and loved them. Just got to tidy up a review and on to this one.

And I couldn’t pass up In The Eyes Of Madness when the author offered it for review. Just my kind of reading!

I was thrilled to get The Gatherers. Been waiting a long time for this one. I had wicked fun with the first book, The Harvesting.

New ones just because.

I got so lucky and spotted this free on Amazon! I just reviewed Killing Weeds, the 8th book in this series and plan to go back and read the others. How cool that I got this one free. I prefer getting cozies in print but I still need to get 6 more books in this series and that gets a bit pricey.

~~~
I’m into a lot of books for young readers and this sounded fun for all ages. Just check out the description!
A fast paced, original adventure about a boy who tries to outrun a nightmare. An epic trip into a rich and beautiful world.
Packed with detailed maps and 18 stunning illustrations – Tyler’s Dream is a thrilling tale that is underscored by a fierce and breathtaking pace.
And it’s FREE until the 16th. Click on the cover to get your copy.
    Ugh, your picture of your working place are terribly attractive, appealing, hypnotizing !! Heaven, you said it ! I just had to shut the windows a few minutes earlier because a whole hive (well, several bees, a good dozen) wanted to come inside my home ! Enjoy your garden 😉
  4. I just love my paperwhite and when my first broke down after the warranty, I still bought another and this one is fabulous (first must’ve been a lemon). Enjoy your week reading all those books!
  5. Book Splurge says:
  7. Lauren H. says:
    ooo, I want to read The Publicist. I wonder what you’re thoughts on that one will be.
    • fuonlyknew says:
      I’m reviewing it Wednesday and then the 2nd and 3rd books the following two weeks. It’s addictive fun!
  8. Greg says:
    I’m with you on the AC- how DID they do it? Although our temps are comfortable at the moment… but it won’t last. And I agree about cool mornings…
    Happy Mothers Day! A thyme to Die looks good…
  9. Oooh, have fun with that new Paperwhite!
  10. Oh, have fun with that Paperwhite! Enjoy!
  11. Laura says:
    You’ve got some exciting looking books this week! Enjoy!
  12. Congrats on your new kindle paper white, Lauren. I love mine as well 🙂
    Your outside office is amazing, I could live outside in the summer, so I totally understand setting up your laptop and all like that.
    On top of that, you have a pretty cool haul, too. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy all your new books.
    Have a wonderful week ahead, happy reading.
    • fuonlyknew says:
      Everyones comments help me make the right buy!
      I love my little office. I’m surprised I don’t get distracted!
  13. amyh90 says:
    Hi Laura,
    I’m so jealous of the weather you’re getting! Here in the UK the sun is shining but it’s still cold 🙁 lol. I hope you have a great time with your mum when she arrives, and happy mothers day!
    Happy reading,
    Amy x
    • fuonlyknew says:
      It’s starting to heat up and the humidity is trying to get started so I’m enjoying it before it gets sticky. LOL I’ll send some your way:)
  14. Great haul. Send some heat my way please it’s miserable here. Happy Reading.
  15. katarguelles says:
    I love your outdoor office! You have a lot of shade so it looks really cool!
    You got a lot of great books and I’ll have to grab some of the freebies. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great Mother’s Day and week!!
    • fuonlyknew says:
      I have a pecan tree on each side of the house so all four provide shade for the entire house and that sure helps keep the house cool and the ac bill lower!
  16. Lola says:
    It always surprises me how many houses in the US have AC, here companies have them in their building, but most normal houses don’t. I am guessing it also is warmer there in summer as it is here, although some summer days I certainly wish we had AC in house, we do have a small fan which works when it’s really warm.
    Your outdoors porch looks like a lovely place! We spent today visiting my boyfriend’s parents for mom’s days and I sent my mom an e-gift card as she lives too far away to easily visit.
    You got a nice haul this week, so many good looking books! i hope you’l enjoy them all and have a great week!
    • fuonlyknew says:
      In the summer it’s 90 plus and sometimes gets over 100! Plus the humidity gets thick and everything gets sticky in the house without it.
  17. It seems funny that we have AC here in Maine, especially after our winter. But it filters the air as well as keeping the humidity in check. Thanks for visiting.
  18. You won some awesome giveaways! Have a great week!
    You got the hook up this week! So many really great looking reads. I almost forgot how awesome your taste is in books. I am looking forward to your reviews. Happy reading Laura!
    • fuonlyknew says:
      I’ve had a great run of awesome reads. Every book I’ve read has been a high rating. Hope it keeps up!
  22. Naomi Hop says:
    Enjoy the new Kindle! Looks great. You’ve got a lot of great reads!
  23. Your outdoor space looks heavenly! 🙂 I have a Fire (1st gen) and I got a Paperwhite for Mother’s Day last year. I really love mine! Have fun with it! 🙂
    • fuonlyknew says:
      It is heaven! I don’t want to go back inside. LOL And I’m loving my Paperwhite. Can’t live without it now. LOL
  24. buffywnabe says:
    The Gathering and The Harvesting are both ones I want to read. YOu had an awesome haul as well this week! Love that back porch. I wish I had a nice fenced yard so that I could go outside and enjoy the weather and let my dogs play. Thanks for visiting my Sunday post earlier!
    • fuonlyknew says:
      I love the fence. My dog has a huge yard to play in and is safe. That’s how I got him. Someone dumped him inside the fence as a puppy. LOL
      The Harvesting was great and I expect The Gatherers will be too. Waited a while for it!
  25. Heidi says:
    Looks like you have a lovely paradise in your backyard. I used to have a pool when I lived in PHX but here in Oregon, I live in a forest. I just finished Terminal, and I think it was my favorite so far. Looking forward to your review.
    • fuonlyknew says:
      I couldn’t go outside in the summer without my pool. I’d melt. LOL I love the Ghostrapper Series and can’t wait to dig into Terminal!
  26. Special Passage looks like a good one. Hope you enjoy and have a great week.
  27. Busy, busy, busy. Nice office. 🙂 Congrats on all the new additions to your library.
    • fuonlyknew says:
      Too busy!! I just can’t help myself. Mom will be here tomorrow! Larry and I plan to come over this weekend. Get ready! LOL
  28. I want your backyard! It looks nice and shady…unlike mine which is like 90% hot sunshine. A pool would just be the perfect thing right now too. I actually just discover the Levene books when I organizing my store’s shelves and I was actually pretty curious about them. They look pretty good.
    I hope you have a lovely week!
    • fuonlyknew says:
      A pool is a must if I’m going to survive the heat here in the summer. I love the water!
      The LeVenes have several series going and they are all such fun. I love cozies!
  29. Dreams says:
    Great haul! So many books that I now have to add to my TBR. Hope you’re having a great week and enjoying your outdoor office. I need one of those! My poor patio is empty.
  30. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) says:
    Oh wow. Love the outside office! I’m so jelly! lol. That would be a nice piece of heaven. Looks like some amazing new reads as well. Hope you enjoy them all!
