Some chit chat.

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Sun is shining, A light breeze to keep the humidity at bay. A perfect summer day!

After a week of clouds and rain, the sun finally shows itself again. Glorious day! I rushed outside to meet it, taking my computer, my phone, my Kindle, and a print book just in case. I spent many hours out their, reading, swimming in the pool, and just closing my eyes to listen to the seagulls. Man, I love summer! LOL

I also did a bit of writing.

Writing, you ask?  Yep, I’ve been trying my hand at a few short stories that have been in my head for years. I don’t plan on trying to publish them.  But I do plan on sharing them on my blog. When I do, Ill be asking for feedback. Good or bad! I thought it would be a fun discussion post and I need more of those.

If you have any plots you’d like me to take on, a challenge of sorts, bring em on. It might take a while, but I’ll try to get to them. Should challenge me and it would be fun to see what I can come up with.

These will be very short stories and flash fiction to start. When I do my reviews, most times I write my own synopsis and that’s whet my appetite to try to do more. Scary!

And a lot of them are horror shorts. I do love my scares. I also learned real quick to not write them on my computer. You’ll see why in the gif below.

This was me fairly quickly. LOL I now use pen and paper to get a rough draft written first.

So, what are your plans for the weekend?  I’d love to hear!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

You’re right, Laura. The 6:41 to Paris has an eye catching cover. Interested to know how you liked the book.

  2. I don’t like scary books, but the covers on the Stephen King books are really nice. You got some good looking books this week.

Isn’t summer great, Laura? Such a great time of the year. Enjoy! And have fun reading this week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve loved scary stories since I was a kid. It surprises me I can still get scared. LOL
Yes, summer is glorious and I’m going to treasure every second of it!

  3. Lola says:

Here it’s raining today, seems we switched weather as last weeks or two weeks ago it was the other way around.
That GIF is realy disturbing O_o Writing your horror stories not on your computer sounds like a good idea if that’s what happens. So you write them on paper and then later type them out? Also I think you should give it a try and publish a few of your short stories, who knows there might be some people out there who love them and you can make some extra money.
The 6:14 to Paris has an original cover, I can see why that caught your attention. have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s been strange weather, for sure.
LOL I couldn’t resist that gif. If I could have found one of the computer being smashed, might have used it. Yep. I make notes, write a draft, and only then do I use my computer. I may try to publish one day. As much as I love reading and writing, it makes sense:)

  4. talksupeblog says:

Wonderful looking books this week, Laura! Have a great reading week ahead!

  5. GOOD for you on the writing bug!! Looking forward to reading!

  6. yvonne473 says:

I love reading in the summer time. We are having similar weather but I haven’t had a chance to sit down and enjoy some reading time. The Joyce and Jim Lavene book looks great. That’s one of the few of their series I haven’t started yet.

    Enjoy! Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Me too. I read lots of different genres too. You’d think I’d stick to light romance and chick lit, but I’m all over the place.
I was thrilled to get my hands on A Watery Death. It’s the one series by them where I hadn’t read any of the books yet.

  7. Cold Hearted sounds good. Hope you enjoy and have a great week.

  8. Deborah says:

Well done on the short stories. I actually like handwriting sometimes as well. I think my creative juices flow more when I do so (if that makes sense!).

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. I always have a pen and paper everywhere I go so when something pops in my head, I can jot it down. Even in my car. LOL

  9. Elizabeth says:

I am amazed at all the posts you got done last week. I’m plugging along with a couple of reviews a week.
    Hope you’ll be stopping by

  10. fangswandsfairy(alt) says:

A relative works for an indy horror publisher – she loves it and also writes super creepy stories. It’s called VIllipede press: http://villipede.com/.

Personally, the scariest I go is LKH’s Anita Blake. My post http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2015/05/sunday-crab.html

  11. Good luck with your writing! I need to get on the ball and buckle down and do some writing myself. Great haul also..I picked up one freebie..trying to refrain from grabbing to many…lol.

    Stormi

    • fuonlyknew says:

Maybe we can work at it together. Giving each other some needed nudges. LOL
      I only grabbed one too!

  12. Kathryn says:

It sounds like you had a great summer reading place and went well armed with every thing needed for reading. Love the sounds of summer too. Congrats on all the wins, always a nice thing to have happen.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s a must to have a cozy place to read and work outside. It can get brutal in the afternoons though. Then I move it inside:)

  13. Red Iza says:

I read very few Stephen Kings, I think I should catch up some day… Have a great week and enjoy the weather 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

Been doing a lot of swimming. AAH describes how it feels. So lovely:)
I love Stephen King and it’s funny. I didn’t realize the two covers connected until I put them side by side. I wish they’d make a movie of The Regulators!

  14. katarguelles says:

I’ve used that GIF at work when it gets so frustrating emailing back and forth to people who don’t understand what’s going on lol. No matter how many times I say something or even in a simpler way they still don’t understand and I feel like banging my computer keys lol.

But anyways that is great you are writing and I hope you share some of your stories. I don’t like horror so hopefully I won’t be scared at night lol.

Have a great week and enjoy the beautiful weather!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve used it before too. LOL Says it all!
I’m writing but spending a lot of time rewriting and rewriting and deleting. LOL Not all of them are scary:)

  15. atothewr says:

Good luck with your writing. I will enjoy reading them. Need any help or ideas, my email is open.

  16. I had no idea you were writing short-stories, Laura, that’s awesome!
And how I laughed at your gif – I can’t type at first either, even my assignments for uni are first written with pen and paper.
Your new books all look great, I hope you’ll enjoy them.
Have a fantastic week and happy reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m “attempting” to write some. LOL Fumbling with it but having fun. We’ll see how it goes. And I’m tearing through the books and having some good reads:)

  17. ljennison says:

Sounds like so much fun out there. Been sitting on my back patio the same way. Have a good week!

  18. Excellent book haul! And LOL at that gif. I also would like to try my hand at writing. One of these days…:)

  19. Emma says:

Can’t wait to read your horror shorts!

  20. Sounds like a great week! We’ve been nothing but heat and sun here until this week. It’s nice to have a little break from that. Totally enjoying the cooler weather this week. Plus not having to water the veggie garden every morning. 😀

Hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s been beautiful this week. More sun, less rain and the pool is finally warming up so I don’t cringe when I first get in. LOL

  21. melissamyworldinwordsandpages says:

Glad you got to writing those short stories. 🙂 It’s fun to do. I use to do like a flash fiction friday thing with shorts about 250-500 words (of course some went longer as it just flowed) but haven’t done those in some time. Have fun with the stories!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve been hemming and hawing about it for a long time. Now I’m getting down to it and it’s fun but hard. Sometimes I throw it all out and start over. Funny how a story demands to be told it’s own way. LOL
