Some chit chat.

Good morning ya’ll!

It’s another Sunday and it’s raining. I always find it funny how when summer first gets here, I want beautiful clear skies so I can get outside and get a tan, enjoy the swimming, and putter in my flower gardens.

As the summer  gets hotter, the weeds get neglected, the tan is good enough, and the cold AC beckons me back inside. LOL

Today I awoke to overcast skies and rain. And I was glad. I can’t think of anything better right now than to curl up in bed with a cup of hot English Breakfast Tea and my Kindle.

I’m reading Ella, The Slayer right now and can’t wait to finish the last chapter! Then I’ll be grabbing something from the stack next to my bed. Perhaps a thriller, some horror, another cozy, or an urban fantasy? So many choices! Isn’t life grand!!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

Comments
  1. I’m the same way about summer. It’s just too hot now and everything just looks kind of sad. Not saying that I’m ready for winter though! I’ve already added The Haunting of Gillespie House to my TBR and Floral Depravity looks really good. I don’t think I would’ve been able to resist that one either!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m not ready for winter ever! LOL Except for Christmas, then skip right on to spring! I am overflowing with cozies and some scary ones and can’t get to them fast enough.

  2. tonyalee says:

I LOVED Ella, The Slayer!! I snagged Edgewood for free a few weeks ago! 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I just finished it! Got lots to say in my review. I loved it too! Edgewood is a genre I enjoy so I’m hoping it’s a good one:)

  3. kentuckygal50 says:

    K. Any of these books that are cozies are going on my TBR list. (Who am I kidding, most of the others are as well!) *lol* And I’m s.e.r.i.o.u.s.l.y. in like with that bookshelf/divan combination at the top of the post.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I spent hours browsing for the freebies and had to grab some of them myself. The graphic at the top. Been so long I can’t remember how I came up with it. LOL

  4. Oh, I loved Ella, the Slayer! I was hesitant at first to read it (I’m anti-zombie), but it was more about Ella’s story. The heat has definitely risen here in Central Texas. Ironically, one of my former students complained to me that the temperature on our phone apps is far off from what it actually is, and she was right! I tested it – the app said high 80s (like 88) and my car temperature read 98. With the heat index, it was over 105! This means all my plants are dying, just like the grass and weeds. 🙁

    • fuonlyknew says:

I loved it too. Just finished it this morning and I admit, the zombies were what interested me. Then I fell for Ella, and Sage and Alice and….LOL
It’s been boiling over here on the Gulf Coast too. Today it’s been raining all day and I’m loving it. Figures, I just watered everything yesterday morning. LOL

  5. The In-Betweeners looks good and heck yes rainy days are made for pajama days!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

That caught my eye, especially the blurb. Something a little different:) I’m in PJ’s still and loving all this rain. Off to read some more!

  6. What book tours do you do that you get to read so many cool cozies and horror books? All the ones I have never seem to do books I really want to read. You won some really cool stuff!!

And of course I picked up some freebies..lol.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Go to the top of my post and click on my Book Tours I host For page. Then check out escape with dollycas and book partners in crime. Those a couple that will fit the bill for ya!

  7. Lola says:

It’s been raining here on and off for the past few days and I am happy with it as it cools everything down a bit. I also got the In-Betweener this week when it was free. Nice haul you got this week and yay for winning a giveaway! I hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Still raining here. It’s brought the temp down to the 80s so I shouldn’t complain. But now I miss the sun. LOL

  8. We haven’t received rain in a while, which is okay by me because the grass isn’t growing. lol.

Some great looking books coming up this week. 🙂 Hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I have a landscape man that comes every week to mow but I still do tree trimming and gardening. It’s all kind of gone a bit to the weeds right now. Been so hot.

  9. katarguelles says:

It’s been really hot here so I wished it would rain (plus we need the water). But it is a nice weather to just stay home and relax with a good book. Everyone seems to be reading cozy mysteries and I need to try these. You did really good with just getting 2 ARCs from Netgalley. I’m still good (so far lol) of not requesting any ARCs. You had a lucky week again and I hope you enjoy all your new books!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

A bit cooler but the rain is going away and back to the 90s. LOL I’m a cozy addict so you’ll always find me posting about several a week.

  10. Wonderful book haul and congratulations on the books you won. It’s great to get books on your wish-list. California has not seen much rain. Today it was almost 90 and sun sun sun. I would love to have the rain. Can you send it out west? Have a great week Laura.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. I’ve been very lucky and I sure do appreciate it! I’ll send you the rain and you send me the sun with no humidity! LOL

  11. Yvonne says:

All those books look so good especially the cozies. Enjoy! Have a great week!

  12. Angelized1st says:

Wow, you have some interesting looking books. Thanks for the info about the freebies! I just downloaded Deadly Crush.

  13. Thanks for those freebie links. We are expecting rain this week. Hope it will cool it off a bit.

  14. Christy says:

Send some of that rain this way! It’s just hot, hot, and more hot here. Hooray for the great wins! Hope you enjoy your books and your weather. 🙂

  15. Deborah says:

I hate hate HATE summer. It gets pretty hot and humid here in my part of Queensland so feels unbearable much of the time. I live on the beach so have a breeze quite often thankfully. (And aircon when that’s too weak or strong!)

  16. I truly enjoy all seasons, I love winter, when it’s pretty cold and with snow, spring when nature bursts out, summer when it’s warm and we can be a bit more lazy, and fall when colors are spectacular. I am not completely ready for summer to be over yet, but I’m quite happy it’s a bit cooler than it was a few weeks ago 🙂
You got some very nice-looking books this past week! I hope you’ll enjoy them all.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Lovely descriptions! Our seasons are flashes. A few spring days, straight to summer, don’t pass go! Fall does last a bit and winter is short and sporadic spells of cold.

  17. atothewr says:

Summer seems to drag on down here. It stops raining and then everything just dies unless you water it daily. I’m not a fan of winter, but I am getting tired of the endless dry days full of humid heat.

  18. Awesome wins, Laura! I only picked up one freebie. Sorry I got here so late. Happy reading.

  19. Emma says:

Just picked up a copy of A Gift of Ghosts for my Kindle. Thanks, Laura.
