Some chit chat.

Do you feel what I feel? Do you smell it? Spring is in the air! And it seems like all I can think about is digging my fingers into the soil and making pretty in my gardens.

I’ve been busy cleaning out flower beds and trimming all the dead stuff. Now I have these huge piles of branches to haul off. Good thing I have a strong son to do that. LOL He’ll come in handy helping me spread all the mulch I carted home too.

I’ve also been scrubbing down the outdoor furniture and the patio and thinking about what to add this year. I’m thinking maybe a new grill and new umbrella with table for my outdoor office. Maybe some more potted flowers.

And the pool is in need of a good cleaning. I’m sure I’ll grab some more noodles and floats. I’ve also ordered new stairs with handrails. My mother spends the summer down here and I want her to be safe entering and leaving the pool. Probably good for me too. I’ve slipped on the ladder several times.

Hang in there folks. Spring is almost here. Soon, we’ll be reading books in the sun, getting nice tans, and enjoying the song birds and fresh air!

This is also when things really start hopping on the Gulf Coast. I still pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming that I really live here. LOL Lots of outdoor concerts and fairs. Jimmy Buffet is coming for another big concert. This is for all you parrotheads!

Got lots of books to share, so let’s get to it!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link!

  1. Greg Hill says:

My aunt and uncle are down in Gulf Shores right now (and I wish I was!). So beautiful there… it warmed up here the last da or so and that gave me spring fever big time. We’re getting closer… 🙂

Thanks for the Buffett tune! 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

If you ever come down here, give me a shout and we can meet! That would be fun. They chose the perfect time to come down. Weather is absolutely beautiful with balmy days and plenty of sunshine:)

  2. The Spirit Chaser looks creepy! Until this week our lawn was covered in snow. While the front still has a few piles, we can now see our backyard. It is still a bit nippy for gardening, we can get snow here as late as May 9th. I did open my windows for a bit..which was heavenly. Let’s hope the warm weather stays! Have a great week:)

    • fuonlyknew says:

The Spirit Chaser was more intense than I was expecting and I loved that! Here’s to an early spring for you:)

  3. I’m so ready for spring it’s not even funny, Laura! It’s a bit early to start scrubbing the patio and the outside furniture, but soon we can start getting ready to spend more time outside, too.
You got a lot of new books this week! I am going to have to check out some of the freebies, of course, it’s impossible to resist 😀
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I here ya, Lexxie! I think it’s almost upon us. I found some good freebies to share this week. Lots of different genres for everyone:) I did only grab one. LOL

  4. I’m so jealous of your gardening time. I haven’t had a garden since I was 8 and I really hope to get one when we move. I’m not really good with plants but I really want to be! 😀
Your new books look great. Shallow Graves sounds promising.
    Happy reading 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

I squeeze in time for gardening whenever I can. If not, the weeds get out of control along with everything else. It seems all things grow so fast down here and I’m constantly trimming to keep up. LOL Just finished Shallow Graves and loved it. I hope you get a chance to read it.

  5. I am so ready for Spring and mother nature is teasing us with 70 degrees here in Missouri and I am just waiting for her to go bam 30 degrees…lol. I really want Shallow Graves and I heard that The Halfling is pretty good so curious to see your review. 🙂

    Week in Review

    • fuonlyknew says:

I think we are seeing the last blasts before spring soon, Stormi. You know there’s always one or two more before the end. LOL i finished Shallow Grave this morning and loved it. And I hope you get to read H.D. Gordon’s Halfling. Absolutely loved it and she is a gifted writer. I’ve read a bunch of her books.

  6. Dagny says:

Sounds like you have really been enjoying the weather! Good for you. I had a miserable cold, so didn’t get out. Now, just about the time I begin to recover some energy, five days of rain is predicted, followed by a cold snap. C’est la vie.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Oh man, the rain sucks. I know we have some coming Monday. Need to see if we’ll be getting any of the cold snap along with it. I hope this is the end of it! And yeah, a fellow parrothead!

  7. I am trying to plan a container garden of herbs and veggies that I can fit on my tiny back porch and enclosed porch. My landlord lives downstairs and he is the lawn dictator. Nothing but grass is the rule. I have seen Shallow Grave mentioned quite a bit lately. I will be interested to see what you think of it. Have a fabulous week. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

Go on line and check out some suggestions. You can do a lot with container gardening and make it pretty and fun:) I just finished Shallow Graves this morning and loved it!

  8. Enjoy your haul! I want to get my hands on The Forgotten Room…and the new Lauren Carr is another one to grab. Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.

    • fuonlyknew says:

The Forgotten Room is on my challenge list so I’ll be sure to read it. I love Carr’s books in each series:)

  9. Sounds like you’re really getting ready for warmer weather! The Gulf Coast is fantastic. There’s so much to do there – especially once it starts warming up – and the beaches are the best. Enjoy your new books! I really want to read The Forgotten Room. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I am so excited for spring. And my resolution this year is to stop and smell the roses so I look forward to seeing this lovely area through fresh eyes instead of just passing it all by:)

  10. readerbuzz says:

I feel so lucky to live here on the Gulf Coast, too!

    Enjoy all these new books!

  11. Lola says:

No spring in the air here, we had frozen water, then rain and now wind here. I am ready for spring to get here.
That’s nice you have your own poll, that must be bliss during summer. Thanks for helping reveal Trees of Life this week! And I am looking forward to your review of The Halfling, I read it earlier this year and realy enjoyed it. Havea great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m sure we’ll get another blast or two of cold before it gives up. But I see spring right around the corner. I love my pool. Too scared to swim in the ocean anymore, so I had to have one. Plus, my mother spends the summers here and we get in it every day. Very relaxing after work:)

  12. Angelized1st says:

My favorite thing about spring approaching is that we’ll begin to get longer days. I’m so tired waking up, and it’s still dark outside. As for my backyard, it needs a lot of work. I know I should get to doing it, but I’ll probably end up procrastinating. I hope you get everything set up nicely, and have a chance to enjoy it.

  13. So great you’re loving living on the Gulf Coast, Laura. It’s great you can already be working in your yard. I can’t imagine living too far south, because I’m a wimp when it comes to bugs…lol. But there certainly are lots of perks for living there! I hope you have a warm reading week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah. We have some big bugs and giant spiders. LOL I’ve learned to live with them. And I’ve learned some natural remedies to keep them away from the house, mostly. LOL

  14. I have been working outside too and loving every minute of it. I accomplished most of what I planned for the weekend and am anticipating shopping at my favorite store – the hardware store. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

Going to Home Depot and Lowe’s! Sounds like fun to me! I’m planning a trip to the local nursery this coming weekend. Looking for some miniature fruit tress. Maybe lime trees, something like that. I love my orange tree. Need some more Sega’s

  15. Yay warm weather! I’m not a cold weather person. Though spring and summer also means rain where I live, so there’s that. That’s great that you’ll get to start gardening though 🙂 Get out there and make everything gorgeous! Have a great week!

  16. Literary Feline says:

Yes, spring is definitely in the air! I do love the spring even if not the allergies that come with it. I wish you could come do something with my garden–which is basically a blank slate. I’m terrible when it comes to gardening, but I do enjoy looking at them. The Forgotten Room is on my TBR pile. I’m looking forward to that one. Thank you for the mention of the freebies. As if I need more books. LOL I can’t resist checking them out though to see if any should be added to my TBR collection. 🙂

I hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I started redoing me flower beds last year and moved some plants around. Now it’s time to tidy up and add some new things. That’s the fun part! And I enjoy shopping for the freebies and try to pick different genres for everyone to check out. If I grabbed all of them, my kindle would explode. LOL

  17. I am honestly NOT looking forward to spring because I’m in Florida and the winter has been so nice and mild! Haha! Shallow Graves looks really good. Enjoy your new reads! 😀

    Here’s my Weekly Recap!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Hi neighbor. My sister lives in P’cola and we are less than an hour apart. It has been a good winter this year. Got a feeling it’s going to be hot this summer.

  18. Spring is stirring up all my allergies. My face was very puffy and itchy this morning. Your outdoor plans sound marvelous. I would love to live down on the Gulf.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, my eyes are itchy then watery. LOL Twice a year we get thick green pollen and it gets me. I love living here. People are so friendly and the flora and fauna are so tropical.

  19. Yvonne says:

I’m definitely anxiously waiting for spring to get here. Soon!

Enjoy your books and have a great week!

  20. Christy LoveOfBooks says:

Ah, yes … it’s nice to have children to do the crappy jobs. lol. Have a great week and enjoy the gardening.

  21. atothewr says:

I can also feel spring creeping in. Great time of year and thanks for song. Enjoy it.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yep. Almost time to start watching for the buds on my pecan trees. When they appear, spring is officially here for me. Gotta love Jimmy!

  22. Heidi says:

We are seeing some hints of Spring here in Oregon, finally. It is gray and rainy right now, but it is supposed to clear out and be sunny for four days, I can’t believe it. Four days of sun. I can’t wait to get out and soak it up. So looking forward to being able to read outside.

  23. tonyalee says:

I feel like the nice weather is just a tease. lol it’s possible we are getting an early spring though!

Great books this week! I really liked Shallow Graves!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It is! Yesterday was 70s. Today is blustery and 50s. I feel this might be one of the last cold blasts though. Lets hope!

  24. katarguelles says:

I’m so ready for spring and lucky we have a small yard that we don’t have that much work to do lol. You are so lucky to live in an area with outdoor concerts. I met some parrotheads when we did some volunteer work and they were a fun group. I hope you have a great week!

  25. Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace says:

Great to see you prepping for the warmer weather… Still hot down here!
    Have a great week!

  26. I’m looking forward to reading books outside as well. Ahhh, Jimmy Buffett!!! Happy reading and hope you week went well. 🙂
