Some chit chat.

Hello everyone and Happy Sunday!

Hey ya’ll! I t’s been two weeks since I last did a Sunday Post. Took off last weekend to spend time with the family and wouldn’t you know it, I got bit by a spider and the weekend got cut short. Had to go to urgent care when the swelling and pain got too bad for me to handle. Three shots and a couple of prescriptions later, I’m still recovering. The pains gone but the swelling is persistent and still can’t bend my arm all of the way.

You’d think after all of these years, I’d have built up some immunity to spider bites. Instead, they get to me more than they ever did when I was young. LOL

Aside from that mess, not much new has happened. Got some fun plans with the family and been reading like crazy. I’ll have a bunch of reviews to share next week. And a bunch of giveaways too so be sure to watch for them.

I mentioned before that my email got hacked. I’m still way below what I should be receiving in my inbox. If I follow you and you haven’t heard from me on your posts for a while, give me a holler or you can leave your blog link in the comments here. It appears when my email was fixed, I lost a bunch of people I follow. I don’t want to miss out on your stuff, guys, so anyone who wants to, please leave a link to your blog so I can follow you!

I hope you all have a holiday fabulous weekend!

I’ll be hopping over to check out your Sunday posts so be sure to leave me your link.

  1. Greg says:

I hate spiders… especially ones that have a bite like that. Hope you’re having a good weekend other than that…A Drop in the Ocean looks nice and so do some of the scary reads lol. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Greg. It’s so odd that I never used to have much of a reaction to spider bites. This must have been quite venomous. A Drop In The Ocean does sound nice and I love the cover art. Those scary ones have been fun. Reading a lot of them recently.

  2. I so missed your Sunday Post!!!!! Glad your back!

Oh my goodness, spider bites can be bad. I find that I seem to be more allergic to things like that as I get older. Wasp use to never bother me now I get a huge spot on me that swells and its bright red.

You got some good books coming up and I so want that Eclair and Present Danger one…lol.

    Happy reading,
    Stormi
    Week in Review

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s good to be back here on Sunday. It felt so odd to not post last week. LOL The spider bites is sure healing slowly. Haven’t been stung by a bee recently. Just killed a nest of them on the end of my porch. You can bet I blasted them from a long ways away. LOL My review of Eclair and Present Danger goes up Monday along with a fun giveaway!

  3. sjhigbee says:

So sorry to hear of the spider bite:(. Hope you’re now feeling better. Another fabulous book haul – I’m looking upon The Hatching with interest – love that cover! Have a great week. This is my Sunday Post https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/06/05/sunday-post-5th-june/

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks a bunch. It’s a wee bit better. My sister is probably laughing at me because I started reading The Hatching and then one of those nasty buggers went and bit me. LOL

  4. Lillian @ Mom With a Reading Problem says:

Spider bites….ugh!!! Sorry you had to deal with one. They are no fun! Great book haul this week 😀 I’m so enjoying the Power of the Matchmaker series. Can’t wait to read Taylor Dean’s contribution. So far they’ve all been great! Hope you have a great week!
    My Sunday Post

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Lillian. Just waiting this thing out. I adore Taylor’s books. Just got Chasing Fireflies in the mail!

  5. Shandy says:

Sorry to hear about your spider bite, hope you feel better soon. Lots of great looking books to keep you company while you recover though.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s a tiny bit better, thanks:) I’m reading a horror story about spiders right now. Talk about coincidence. LOL

  6. Emma says:

Spider bites are the worse. I don’t know if it’s true but I react quite badly to spider bites and the doctor told me that some spiders trigger a reaction and after that you are basically doomed and they will get worse each time, plus other bitey things. Not to sound all doom and gloomy and am hoping you are now ok? Have a good week.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I think that’s what is happening to me. They used to just annoy me. Then they got painful. Now they leave scars and this one is driving me crazy. It’s not as painful now but still not much different, even with the strong antibiotics. I hope something happens soon so I don’t have to go back to the doctor. Thanks, Emma:)

  7. Bad, bad spider. Beware when reading Hatching!!!! LOL
sherry @ fundinmental My Sunday Memes

  8. OH MY GAWD! I would be insane trying to keep away from spiders if I lived where you live! Spider bites here are little itchy things. I hope you are 100% well soon. A lot of people are talking about The Hatching. I hope you enjoy reading it, but ISN’T IT ABOUT SPIDERS?! Gah! Have a wonderful week. 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL Yes, it’s about spiders. Perhaps it was a warning! We get some spiders that are huge here, and lots of really ugly, creepy ones that look like little monsters. Doesn’t help that I have a phobia for the things.

  9. Now I received a copy of the Hatching and it came with some adorable cute plastic spiders!!! Urgh, I would be staying away from that book if I was you – how big was the spider out of curiosity!!?

    • fuonlyknew says:

Ooh, more spiders. Just what I need. LOL I have a plastic one that sits right next to my computer. Strange that I do that, as I hate the things. I have no idea what kind bit me. They said it had a strong venom though and it sure is taking it’s time healing.

  10. Dani Chapman says:

Thanks so much for the freebie list! I found two books that sound good to me!

Sorry you got bit. Spiders are horrible!
Happy Reading! Dani @ Paulette’s Papers

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Dani. There’s no getting away from spiders in the south. Did you know, they say there is always a spider within six feet of you, even if you can’t see it? Goh!!!! Enjoy those freebies. I sure have fun looking for ones to share here every Sunday.

  11. That is so crappy! I dislike spiders so what a pain! I hope your arm gets better soon! And the mess from the hack too. I always worry about that because what a total pain when us bloggers rely on email so much. At least you got a lot of reading in. One bright spot. Thanks for stopping by and I hope this week is a good one for you!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It seems like one thing after another has happened lately. I look at it this way. It can only get better now. Bad things come in threes and I’ve been through those now.

  12. Oh my God. I HATE spiders, and I live in the UK, where they’re not going to poison you. Hope you feel better soon. 🙂

  13. Oh man that soundalike one heck of a spider bite!! Hope the swelling goes down. Enjoy all your new books and have a great week!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I wish I’d seen the spider so I knew what to look out for. Hoping it gets better soon. Been a week already. Thanks, Grace. And I’m enjoying some books for sure!

  14. buffywnabe says:

Oh my goodness! Do you know what kind of spider it was? And you get spider bites a lot? Where do you live? I don’t want to visit. 🙂 Looks like you got some good books though. Hope the spiders leave you alone this week! Thanks for stopping by my Sunday post earlier!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I didn’t see the spider. Didn’t even feel the bite. I have been bitten many times. Seems worse each time now. Most of the bites I got were from outdoors, not in the house, and that’s one good thing:)

  15. yvonne473 says:

So many great books. Some of them are on my list too. Have a great week!

  16. Got My Book says:

So sorry to hear about your spider bite and your hacked email. I got a bad bite of some kind right on my knuckle a couple of weeks ago, but thankfully didn’t have to have medical intervention.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I had no choice. Was at my sister’s when it happened and the pain was something else. By morning it was scary to look at and ended up at Urgent Care. Good thing I went, as it packed some venom. Glad yours healed!

  17. Stacy Renee says:

Eek!!! Spider give me the chills! Looks like you got a lot of books this week! I hope you enjoy them!
Thank you so much for stopping by my Sunday Post! Have a great week! 🙂

Stacy Renee @ Lazy Day Literature

    • fuonlyknew says:

I wish I knew what kind it was so I can avoid it in the future! Yep, some great books and tearing through them!

  18. Deborah says:

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the spider bite. Are you allergic or was it venomous? We have some revolting spiders here in Australia. I’m not phobic (which I am about snakes) but stay the hell away from them anyway!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It packed some venom and it sure is taking it’s time going away. I have a phobia and now it’s even stronger. LOL You sure do have nasty critters in Australia too!

  19. Oh no, that sucks about the spider bite. Good thing you didn’t read The Hatching first. lol. Seriously, hope you feel better.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It sure is a nasty bite! It’s so weird I received The Hatching right around the same time. An omen???LOL

  20. Taylor Dean says:

Well, I’m just going to join in with everyone else and say, “Yikes!” I’m so sorry you were bitten. That’s awful. Take care, relax, and read lots of books!!! Glad you received Chasing Fireflies safe and sound. Enjoy!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Taylor. I’m not very lucky recently. LOL Chasing Fireflies looks lovely and can’t wait to start reading it!

  21. Oh my goodness, you are sharing your story about the spider and all I can think about is a book I read the other week called the Hatching…which was freaktastic and then I see you have it…enjoy!

  22. atothewr says:

Pesky spiders. Sorry to hear that. Hope you get better.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Anthony. I swear, it’s been one thing after another recently. Put in hitch in my work!

  23. Wow! I’ve never had a spider bite that bad. It sounds horrible; I’m so sorry. Was it poisonous, or are you allergic to them? (See, I knew there was a reason to be scared of spiders! *shudders*)

And I’m sorry your email got hacked. That really stinks. As requested, I’ll leave my blog link here for you, in case you were following: http://bookwyrmshoard.com/ .

Looks like you got plenty of good reading in, though! I enjoyed The Madness of Mercury, so I’ll check out your review. I really hope you have a better week and feel better soon!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It got infected in hours so they are thinking somewhat poisonous. It’s still swelled up and sore. Taking forever to go away. Thanks for leaving your link. I refollowed you. Some blogs won’t let me so following on Bloglovin to keep up with everyone. Such a pain and I know I’m missing some blogs. Thanks so much Lark!

  24. You freaking have got to be kidding me! After the bite you grabbed THAT book??? Good luck with that… ewwwwwwwww!!! What’s the word for people that inflict pain on themselves??? tee, hee….. Hope this week turns out better!!!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

LOL Honestly, I requested the book from the publisher before I got bit! It’s creeping me out. I promise to not let my experience in any way affect my rating. LOL I believe you are referring to….masochist. LOL Thanks a bunch:)

  25. Ugh, spiders! Glad you’re beginning to feel better.

The Murder That Never Was Sounds like it could be great!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I have a word for spiders, but won’t use it in polite company. LOL The Murder That Never Was was great. So much misdirection and intrigue. And well developed and realistic characters made it even better. I’m big on character driven stories.

  26. I took last weekend off too. It’s nice that you got to spend time with the family. 🙂 Sorry to hear about your email getting hacked! That’s terrible. I don’t understand why people do that.

Here’s hoping you have a great week this week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m still cleaning up stuff from getting hacked and still not getting emails. What a pain in the……

  27. I’m terrified of getting hacked – on anything. I hope you’ve been getting my posts! That spider bite sounds terrible. I never want to be bitten by one. I’ve had my share in snake bites – baby copperhead at age 2. I’m good! I’m planning a (maybe) week-long trip to Matagorda Bay at the end of the month. Any suggestions on things I should go do?

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m getting your posts again. I’ve had to go unfollow and refollow some in oreder to get email notifications again. Some just won’t come through even when I follow. Trying to use Bloglovin to cover those. I can’t imagine getting bitten by a venomous snake. Yikes! Enjoy your vacation. I’d be sure to just take in your surroundings and smell those roses:)

  28. *shudders* Spider bites? Eew!! Is it possible that you’re allergic? Like some people get bad reactions to bee stings, wasps, mosquitos etc, so maybe that’s your problem? It sounds painful, and I hope you’re doing better!
Sorry it’s taken me the whole week to get to your Sunday post – I’ve been very lazy this week 🙂 It’s been very nice and calm at my house 😀

    • fuonlyknew says:

I think I’ve developed an allergy to them. Never used to get such a reaction. This is the worst ever and still isn’t healed after 2 weeks! Hope you enjoyed your lazy time. I’m taking mine now and tried to visit Saturday so you’d know I’m still alive. LOL
