This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

I know I’ve mentioned how routine and calm the last few backs have been. That changed this week. You may have noticed I’ve not been visiting as much. I got pink eye! If you’ve ever had it, you know how it goes. I couldn’t look at anything for long. The computer was the worst. I wore sunglasses and only stayed on for short periods of time. Light was agony to my tender red eyes. That blogging ahead sure came in handy! I’m on the mend now and can actually open my eyes and did get some reading in finally. A couple more days and I’ll be good as new and back to visiting all of you.

Last week I shared this picture of one of my segas starting to bud.

20180413_104044

Here it is now. You can see that they are starting to open.

20180420_121530

And the banana trees are thriving! Here’s the picture from last week.

20180413_103931

And one week later. That long stalk in the middle is actually almost five feet tall and will open into a huge leaf.

20180420_121417

I still haven’t got by my local nursery to find out what this one is. It’s so intriguing and lovely. Remember this picture from last week? Just one flower starting to bloom and lots of stalks.

20180413_103959

I can’t believe how fast these grow. I went from one to this many in a week!

20180420_121303

You can see the tall stalks peeking up all around the blooms. Those are the corn stalk like leaves that will grow really tall.

20180420_121320

I mentioned before about these reminding me of pink pineapples. If you look closely below the top bloom, you’ll see these green and yellow rings below it. Those will eventually turn into more pink blooms, stacking on top of each other.

That’s all folks.

Have a fabulous  Sunday!

  1. Greg Hill says:

Aw sorry to hear about the pinkeye! I had an eye infection the other week and my eyelid got all puffy, it was weird but went away thankfully after a few days. Couldn’t wear my contacts though and that was irritating lol.

Love the plant pics. And ooh Northwoods! I remember seeing that one a while back.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I think it was a combination of pink eye and pollen. LOL Still bothering me a bit. Makes it hard to look at the computer or my eRedaer. Northwoods was a good creature thriller. I’m excited to get into the other books now!

  2. Glad to hear you are on the mend xx Doesn’t sound fun at all.

I love your banana tree! Such pretty pictures of beautiful flowers, too.

Thanks for the freebies. You had a great reading week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s so frustrating when you can’t see clearly. I knew something was happening because my eyes kept blurring. Thankfully I still had some prescription eyedrops and its clearing up, slowly but surely. I can’t get over how the plants are growing. That latest banana pic showing the new shoot is already opening into a huge leaf in one day!

  3. Oh my, hope that pink eye goes away soon! Nasty stuff. When things like that happens I am always glad I have blogged ahead a bit. 🙂

Your plants are growing really well! Happy reading!

    Week in Review

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yep, having review posts and such already scheduled saved my patootie. LOL Still hard to look at the computer very long which makes it difficult to visit and comment on blogs this week. I’m doing it in small doses.

  4. Every time I think of pinkeye I think of that Halloween zombie episode of South Park! Oh dear it sounds horrible-hope it’s better soon!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I remember that episode. LOL It’s slowly getting better. The pollen doesn’t help. At least the weather is nice. LOL

  5. Jenea says:

Jeez, sorry about the pick eye. I’ve never had it, but both of kids have, it was awful. I hope it’s feeling better soon. The segas look amazing! Enjoy the new books.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s highly contagious. I’m surprised you didn’t get it when your kids did. I’m finally doing better. I have no idea where I got it from. LOL

  6. Last year, I kept getting pink eye over and over again and couldn’t seem to get rid of it. It was absolutely awful. Make sure to throw out all your eye make-up so as not to re-infect. Yes, looking at a screen was painful too. Hope you feel much better soon.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I haven’t had it in years and have no idea where I contracted it from. Must be from rubbing my eyes and getting something in them at work. I threw out my eye drops that I use at work and made sure to wash my hands constantly. It was getting better and then flared up again. Looks like I’m almost through it now. Thanks!

  7. Tempting books!

I cleared the leaves off of my patio yesterday, a long overdue task. I have some “plants”…weeds? …that need attention.

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m doing some serious weeding. The briars take over during the winter. My arms are all covered in scratches. LOL

  8. Beware Of The Reader says:

Thanks for the freebies! And your flowers are just so beautiful! happy Sunday.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love the flowers. Never seen anything like them before they just started growing after I cleared a flower bed. Enjoy the freebies:)

  9. Pink eye is the worst! I’m glad you’re feeling better! Enjoy your new books! That audio series looks interesting!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It sure is. My eyes were glued shut every morning! I’m ready to dive into my knew reads and listen to the series while sitting out by the pool now:)

  10. Pink eye sucks!!! I had it once when I was in middle school and it was awful! Your plants look amazing! I can’t even grow grass! Its just pitiful!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve always thought it was something kids contracted. But I’ve only ever experienced it as an adult. No matter what you do, it ends up in both eyes! My plants are doing great and all I do is keep the weeds clear. They do the rest all by themselves:)

  11. BANANAS! The pink flowers are really pretty and I don’t care much for pink. That sega palm is the bomb, all of the growth stages are interesting. 🌿

I love the cover of City of Gold. And Game of Bones, too funny. 📚

Ugh, pink eye. I’m glad to hear it’s getting better. 👀

    Have a splendid week. ☺

    • fuonlyknew says:

Pink isn’t a color I wear much but I like it in flowers. They really stand out. I just read The Secret of the Lost Pharoah and figured I’d grab City Of Gold as it’s the previous book. It’s fun so far. And the pink eye has been such a pain!

  12. Yvonne says:

Oh no! I’ve never had pink eye, but I’ve heard about it. I hope you are feeling better. Have a great week!

  13. They Feed? Yikes that cannot be good. Awesome haul this week, lots of creeptastic looking covers. I love the little pineapple plants. Thanks for sharing. I cannot believe what a difference a week makes

    • fuonlyknew says:

They Feed lived up to it’s title! And I’m really having fun sharing my plants. It is amazing how much happens in jus a few days let alone a week!

  14. kozbisa says:

Sorry about the pink eye. I hope you are feeling better. Eye pain is a terrible thing.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It;s scary too. I worry about deeper infections and sight loss. Luckily, it’s on the mend. Thanks:)

  15. carolesrandomlife says:

Sorry that you have been dealing with pink eye. I don’t think that I have had it before but it sounds terrible. Love all of your plant photos. I wish I could grow something besides weeds. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’ve had it a few times and you’re right, its no fun. My weeds grow as fast as the plants. Keeps me busy. LOL

  16. I haven’t had pink eye since I was a kid. I hope you feel better soon. I love the pink flowers. Have a great week!

  17. Pink eye is awful. So glad you are getting better. The flowers are gorgeous.

  18. StackingMy BookShelves says:

Ughh I hate pink eye. I got it when I was WAY young and when my daughter got it, I basically wore gloves. Didn’t want anything to do with it. Feel better. Have a great week of reading and omg the sage looks amazing!

    Mary

  19. Been there done that – pink eye sucks. Glad to hear you are on the mend though. “Game of Bones” I love it. When we watch GoT, we always joke with the pups about that so it’s awesome there’s a book with that cover. Love seeing the plants thrive. I don’t have the best green thumb so it’s nice to see success!

  20. Oh no! Sorry about the pink eye! Sounds miserable!

  21. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) says:

The plants are coming up nicely! That gives me hope in weather turning nicer again. Hope your eye feels better soon!

  22. Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about the pink eye. I haven’t had it in years but it’s the worse. Anytime there’s anything wrong with my eyes I just want to go to bed and sleep. Hope you’re feeling better and that you’re having a great week!

  23. Neat pictures of your sega palm. My sega palms didn’t survive Hurricane Harvey. I keep hoping to see life sprout from them, but I haven’t had any luck.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Wow. I never lost one to a hurricane. My banana trees have gotten demolished before though. Along with some pecan trees. They always seem to be the first to fall, being as they have such shallow roots.

  24. Daniela Ark says:

OMG your house looks like the garden of Eden Laura! Sorry to hear about your pink eye! Hope you get better soon!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I sure do enjoy being there. I love my home and it’s where I spend most of my vacation time:) My pink eye is almost gone and feeling so much better. Thanks!

  25. Those flowers are weird looking and I love them. I wonder what they are too. Does anyone know?????
    sherry @ fundinmental

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m hoping to finally get by the local nursery and show them a picture. You should see them now, just days later!
