This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Sunday Post

Some chit chat.

It’s been a week of storms here on the Gulf Coast! At least one mother of a storm each day during the work week. Some were very scary. The thunder shook the house and the straight line winds shrieked around the windows. Guess mother nature is preparing me for the beginning of hurricane season in June. LOL

Since I didn’t have as many opportunities to swim in the afternoons, I got busy on blogging ahead and writing a bunch of reviews. Also caught up on some shows and watched a few movies I’d been meaning to get to. And I came up with a blog post that’s going to be fun to put together. I love pie. All kinds of pie. I once dreamed of opening my own pie cafe. So, I’m gathering info from a bunch of movies that have pie as part of their theme. I’ll also be adding a few with other kinds of baked goodies. And I’m having a blast rewatching the movies! If you have any movie suggestions, please share them!

And now for my weekly plant update. Not as many pics this week as it was raining every day when I got home from work.

Here’s a pic of one corner of my back patio. Been working on shaping these up. And Quigley snuck in this one. I didn’t even notice him until I uploaded this pic. LOL

20180518_161344

See how the tall sega’s leaves are laying horizontal. It won’t be producing new leaves this year so I’m just cutting back the brown ones.

20180518_161320

The seed ball is really growing in the center. It gets huge and has tons of these dark red leathery seed pods. I should get a bunch this winter..

And here’s another corner where the banana trees and such are growing. Sorry it’s got a bit of glare. Had to take a quick pic in between rains.

20180518_161232

Some of the banana trees are already above the roof line. There a bunch of smaller ones popping up all over too. Should be a nice crop.

That’s all folks.

Have a fabulous  Sunday!

  1. Sometimes rain really helps us catch up..lol It rained here Saturday which made working inside on chores and assembling furniture much easier. I do hope the sun comes out today. Have a lovely week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yes, those rainy days have me indoors, cleaning and then vegging in front of the telly or with a good book. Like I need an excuse to do that. LOL The weekend is lovely and I’m getting ready to head outside shortly.

  2. Greg Hill says:

Wow the plants are really growing! And we had some storms here too, although nothing quite that bad, sounds like, although we did have some thunder that rattled the house midweek. Summer I guess. 🙂

That’s an amazing scene from Avatar! And your pie post idea sounds awesome. I think food makes a good blog post topic ha ha!

    • fuonlyknew says:

You could see these massive black clouds coming and it got dark as night. I felt the ground shake outside when some of those thunderheads struck. The flying scenes in Avatar just blow me away! And I love posts about food and books with food featured in them. Got a feeling my one post will grow into many.

  3. I find blogging ahead makes life so much easier!!! Less stress later on down the track.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I especially try to write reviews ahead. Been falling behind on that so focusing on that right now.

  4. Angelica Joy says:

We don’t get much storm here but a few weeks ago we got a short sudden rain, which was strange as it was a bright sky then within ten minutes it was raining hard and the thunder was loud and shook the house, I was in bed with my 3 year old extremely worried…he was braver than me 😂

Hope the weather settles down for you.

    • fuonlyknew says:

Living in a tropical climate, we get pop up storms that blow through quickly. I should be used to it. LOL

  5. Ambi says:

Oh I love plants especially tropical ones 🙂 I’ve had the Bear and the Nightingale on my tbr for a long time and am looking for the right moment to read them… perhaps in a winter break 😉 Good luck with your plants and happy reading! 😀

    • fuonlyknew says:

I do love the tropical plants. Makes me feel like I’m on vacation! LOL I’m saving The Bear and the Nightingale for a long weekend. Just in case I get stuck in it!

  6. karen says:

Awe Quigley is adorable. Thanks for sharing the pics. I should take some pics around town and share them. It is so green and flowers are blooming everywhere. We don’t have much flowering plants in our yard, except this red tree right in the front.
The Pie post sounds like fun. I can’t think of any movies with pie in them right off the bat. I am gonna keep my eye out for that post though. I love pie!
I hope you enjoy all your new books. Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah, Quig seems to be inserting himself into my pics recently. Usually I struggle to get him in one. LOL I have a lot of pie ideas and I’m thinking it will take more than one post now. Some of the plants came with the house and many I brought here when I moved.

  7. Jenea says:

Being stuck indoors, sometimes isn’t necessarily a bad, I got some good reading in. 😉 Hurricanes however, it something I certainly don’t miss growing in Florida. But now, I do have snow, soooo. Have a great week and enjoy those new books too.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I enjoy a rainy day now and then. I get to be lazy. LOL I’m not looking forward to hurricane season. Since I moved to my new house after Hurricane Ivan in 2005, we haven’t had a major storm. Every year I feel so relieved but we are long overdue.

  8. Well, I guess it worked out for you, blogging ahead is always good 🙂 and I love pie too!
P.S. Don’t be surprised if you can’t access my blog today. I’m struggling with https xD
    And your blossoms are lovely!

  9. Your plants look beautiful! I love pies too!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays and Cover Spotlight!

  10. sjhigbee says:

The Bear and the Nightingale is a series that’s been recommended to me – so I’ll be interested to see how you get on with it, Laura. Those banana trees! I didn’t realise you also could grow babies… Everything is growing so fast! Though I’m guessing the rain has a lot to do with it. Sorry to hear about the storms and I hope this week is sunnier:)

    • fuonlyknew says:

I waited some time for it to lower in price and then grabbed it as its been recommended to me too. The banana trees produce babies on their own. Easy peasy. LOL And the weekend is rain free and hot! LOL

  11. Your garden is gorgeous! So nice to have in the back to relax with. It has rained here so much I don’t even know what the sun looks like anymore. I have a feeling this summer is going to be very wet.

I love pie too. Looking forward to your post. 🙂

Have a great week, Laura! Happy Reading! ox

    • fuonlyknew says:

At the beginning of the week I was having to water everything. Even had to add water to the pool. Then it rained and rained. Everything is looking so happy. So glad the weekend is clear and sunny. I’m thinking of also baking some pies and such and sharing them in my post. Might turn into a feature.

  12. It’s a Storming here as I write this on your blog. 🙂 We are also suppose to have storms all week, just as long as no tornadoes come with it I am fine. Although I have a lap full of dogs!

Hope you get some swimming time in this week!

    Week in Reviews

    • fuonlyknew says:

We finally had a no rain day yesterday and the skies look sunny this morning. Heading out shortly to read and cool off in the pool. Crossing my fingers your storms aren’t severe:) A couple of the ones that blew through here were pretty scary.

  13. I did look at Orbs-the first book for me was ok but I didn’t like a couple of the MCs. My dad enjoyed the trilogy though. I’m still planning to read Trackers and Hell Divers, now that I’ve finished Extinction Cycle.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I figured to work my way through his shorter series first and keep current on them and then start his Cycle series as it’s quite a bit longer. I can’t wait to see what you think of Hell Divers!

  14. Hopefully its a less rainy week for you this week! The plants are looking good though!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It looks like we are now settling into our summer pattern of afternoon rains. I can handle that. They come in and blow through quickly. My plants sure love it. LOL

  15. kozbisa says:

It seems the US is quite waterlogged, but at least your plants will benefit.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It is. Everyone is getting flooded or hit by winds and tornadoes. Enough, already! I keep forgetting May is the time of rain.

  16. It has been raining non-stop all week. Today looks like it might be okay. Hopefully it’s too soon for the mosquitoes to have bred and birthed yet because I want to sit outside!

Ooo! Freebies! Grabbed Intangible and Of Cinder and Bone. 🙂

Hopefully this week will have nicer weather.

    • fuonlyknew says:

The rain has finally moved off except for out usual afternoon boomer that flies through every day. Speaking of which, I just heard thunder and the sun just went behind some clouds. Nice to not have to water the plants:)

  17. The plants are lovely…but just from looking at them, I can feel my sinuses clogging! LOL

Enjoy those books…and your week. Here are
    MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • fuonlyknew says:

The plants I have don’t seem to bother me. It’s the green pollen that comes from who knows where that gets my eyes all watery and itchy. It smells heavenly when I sit outside right now.

  18. I do love a good rainy day but a week of them get old – especially when I want to swim! I’m excited to see you post on pie related movies. What a fun idea! Have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The rain does get old but its all sunny now. I like the usual afternoon showers but not when it rains all day. My pie idea is growing. So many fun things are popping into my head to use.

  19. Ugh, I’m already dreading hurricane season -_- A post about movies and pie, that does sound fun! Your back patio is so pretty!!! All your plants look so pretty 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yeah. We have to take the bad with the good.I’m hoping its another no show for hurricanes this year. I’m having fun researching for my pie post. Got a feeling it will be several posts. So many fun ideas popping into my head.

  20. Beware Of The Reader says:

Hhahaha forced to blog thanks to bad weather. Well that’s something productive at least. I hope you’ll get your swimming fix next week! I love swimming I go to the pool three times a week 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

Yep. I confess I sometimes need to nudge to get things done. LOL I did get some swimming in. The weekend was sunny and rain free:)

  21. I can’t think of any pie movies that you probably haven’t already watched, but what a fun idea! I’m not familiar with your new titles, but hope you love them all. Happy reading!

  22. I have been remiss on my reviews too. Will be working on some this week and trying to blog ahead. Just can’t get in the swing of things.Have a great week!!!!
    sherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes

  23. I love pie, too! Especially chocolate pie. My plants are finally coming back to life, so hopefully I’ll be able to post plant photos soon. Enjoy your new books!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love all kinds of pie! And every time I think I find a favorite, I find another and another……LOL

  24. What is that on the other side of your fence? A park?! Quigleyl 🐶

I hope you love The Bear and the Nightingale as much as I did. Although be prepared for some boring stuff after the initial scene, but it ends pretty quickly. 👍

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

    • fuonlyknew says:

That’s actually my neighbors yard. All of the yards out here are huge. I’m crossing my fingers for the book. It did have a lot of hype when it first released.

  25. Wow! There are so many books on there that look appealing to me 🙂 I am bookmarking this for when I lift my book buying ban lol 🙂

  26. northwoman says:

I’m listening to Bear and the Nightingale. A nice fairy tale type story. Lots of nice freebies. If you wanted to open a pie cafe, you should read a story by Erin Nicholas. It’s a three book series but the first one is free now until Tuesday, Diamonds and Dirt Roads. It’s a fun, sexy little romance.

  27. Glad the rain helped you get some reading done. 🙂

  28. Yvonne says:

I always love your plant pics. Those books all look good. I have a few of the freebies. Hope you have a great week!

  29. vvb32 says:

Nice to see some outdoor pictures. That Laura book looks creepy, but interesting. Happy reading.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I just love stepping outside and being surrounded by all of the tropical greenery and flowers! Laura was eerie, just the way I like them:)

  30. I love looking at all your plants and of course, seeing Quigley is an added bonus. I kind of stayed away from the computer this weekend so maybe my brain was telling me it needed a break. I LOVE the looks and sound of Beneath the Lighthouse. Gonna have to grab that one when it becomes available!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Quig seems to want to be in all of my pics recently. LOL I plan to start reading Beneath The Lighthouse this coming weekend. Looks scary good!

  31. Banana trees sound so exotic to this Maryland/Virginia girl! We’ve been having a ton of rain here, too. But the sun is finally out again… and it’s heating up.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love all of the tropical plants. Makes me feel like I’m on vacation when I step outside. LOL

  32. We’ve been getting a fair amount of rain lately, too here in NC. We really needed it and could probably use some more as long as it doesn’t all drop at once. I hope you dry out soon even though it’s helped you get ahead. lol

  33. Holy moley! I guess I am to used to living in the city. 🌆

  34. Those storms sound scary. We got caught out walking in one here in France earlier this week. I got drenched, but nowhere near the powerful winds you must be getting. Stay safe 🙂

  35. We could do with a good thunder storm here! All we’ve had is some rain and it’s done nothing to clear that humid muggy feeling from the air. 🙁
However, I’m hoping the rain stays away this coming weekend so we can enjoy an un-interrupted long weekend in the sunshine.

  36. Oh goodness on the storms. I saw mention about hurricane season and it getting an early start. We got some heavy rain and flash flooding but not too bad thankfully. Hope yall have a great weekend!
