I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Some chit chat.

Nothing exciting to report. Just that I’m melting. It’s been triple digits here all week and the humidity makes it feel like you’re under water. Been in the pool so much I’m become water logged.

The heat of summer on the Gulf Coast brings out so many awesome blooms. My Crepe Myrtles are getting started. Here’s a look at the row along my fence.

I wish you could be standing here so you could really see what I see. So lovely!

20180628_115821

Here’s a close up of one of the beautiful blooms.

20180628_115909

This one is the tallest. I transplanted it from my old house to my new one where I’ve now lived for 14 years.

If you look at the bottom right of the picture you can see the roof of my house. That’s how tall it is.  My son received this from school when he was in 1st grade. He’s long since graduated and the tree is now over 18 years old.

And here’s a Quigley shot.

I brought the pillows out so I could take a nap on the couch. Instead I ended up with this in my lap. He still thinks he is puppy sized. LOL

Have a fabulous  Sunday and brand new week!

  1. Lelia T says:

Gorgeous! My smaller Crepe Myrtle started blooming this past week but the bigger one, a mere twenty feet away, is still just in buds. Both of mine usually bloom twice a year but I think I may only get blooms once this year because of the weird winter and spring weather we had here in Virginia. Still, once is better than none 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

I didn’t cur mine back as much and they seem to be doing better this year. I can’t wait until the blooms are so heavy that the branches start to bow:)

  2. Your trees are absolutely stunning! If you gotta suffer through the heat and humidity, at least you have beautiful trees to look at. Have a good week, and happy reading! 🙂

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love sitting outside and enjoying my yard. Doesn’t hurt that I can take a dip in the pool to cool off. LOL

  3. Angelica Joy says:

Wow I can’t believe you planted a tree and its this big! What an amazing memory though for your family to know that tree pretty much grew up with your son.

I just downloaded Reflections as I lost my 14 year old furbaby 3 months ago now and I’m still so sad at loosing her. I had known it was coming, I just thought we’d have one more year with her.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I love the memories. Watching the tree grow up right along with my son. If I ever move I won’t be able to dig it up and take it with me this time. LOL I grabbed the book too. A friend sent me this lovely poem written from a dog’s POV about dying and it still moves me to tears.

  4. The heat is really depressing me and according to our forecast the whole of next week is the same. I have so much I need to do indoors but it’s too hot in here to do anything at the moment. Grr! My dad is doing a few bits and pieces in the garden but I’m limiting his time so he doesn’t end up knackered!!!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Without AC it has to be miserable. I even have a fan I use outside to stir the hot air. Feels good when I’m sweating. LOL I work outside and have to drink a lot of fluids and take breaks. Going to be a hot summer this year.

  5. Those are some nice blossoms 🙂 we have been having rainy and windy weather lately. I hope the weather cools down there soon!

    • fuonlyknew says:

We usually get the wind and rain later in the afternoon. The Gulf heats up and the thnderstorms move on shore. Haven’t had one in a week though. Sure would be nice to have one come in and water everything for me. LOL

  6. Greg Hill says:

Those blooms do look beautiful. Man they grow like crazy down there, don’t they? Triple digits w/ humidity- ugh I think I’d live in the pool too. 🙂

    Jurassic Florida looks so fun.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I lovely the huge colorful blooms. You can see them from way down the road! And I’m in and out of the pool every day. It’s so hot here my dog doesn’t even stay outside with me. He goes in and watched me from the cool AC. LOL

  7. nualacharlie says:

It’s been around 25 C in the Uk and it’s been almost too hot, I am not sure I would get anything done at all with the temperatures you’ve been having. Your trees look pretty though.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I work outside so I’m used to the heat. Doesn’t mean I still don’t feel it and have to take plenty of breaks. I try not to complain as I’m not crazy about winter. LOL

  8. Eww those temps! At least you have a pool, I have to hope in the shower to cool off…lol.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I come home from work, grab the swim suit, and jump right in the pool. probably wouldn’t even step out my back door without it. LOL

  9. The blooms on the free are gorgeous! Quigley is so cute. Our big boxer thinks she’s a lap dog too. 😊 Enjoy your week and stay cool. No melting!

    • fuonlyknew says:

The bold colors are stunning. Yeah, Quig thinks he’s still lap sized. LOL Gotta love them, right!

  10. Yvonne says:

Beautiful pictures! We are at the beginning of a heat wave here and it’s disgusting. Fortunately, my a/c works well 🙂 Have a great week!

  11. kozbisa says:

We’re melting here in NJ too. Wait, I am reminiscing about last weekend, when I had my windows open. Good times. Your Crepe Myrtles are stunning!

  12. Those blooms are great! I’m glad you told us they are Crepe Myrtle, as I’m terrible at identifying plants and flowers. Enjoy your books and your blooms. Thanks for visiting my blog.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I had a couple of plants come up after I moved here and had to do research to figure out what they were. LOL Crepe Myrtles are everywhere here. So pretty.

  13. I had to grab Pamela Crane’s book. Just looking at the cover made it too good to resist. I love the summer, triple digits or not.Glad you are enjoying it so far.
    sherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes

    • fuonlyknew says:

I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m complaining. LOL I love the heat and summer too, Sherry! I grabbed that book too. Read some of her others and enjoyed them.

  14. WOW! I can’t believe how big that crepe myrtle is. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one more than about 8 feet or so. That is impressive. I am also melting and trying not to run the AC insanely. I already have a feeling this first electric bill in the new house might be a shock to the system. Happy swimming!

    • fuonlyknew says:

My ones out front aren’t near as tall. I cut them back each year. I let my son’t grow to see how big it would et. It still gets lots of blooms too. I keep my AC set at 81 but it is still running a lot. Have lots of pecan trees that shade the house but dreading the next couple months. It’s not the hot part of the summer hear yet!

  15. Oh I love Myrtle trees! So pretty!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I know. They are the closest thing to lilac trees here. I miss those but they don’t grow in this heat.

  16. I love crepe myrtles. One of the only trees that I can grow LOL. Yours are pretty.

Hope you have a great week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

They are easy to grow. LOL The ones in the front yard came with the house. Just needed some trimming to look nice.

  17. Such pretty pictures. We’re melting here as well. We did some yard work this morning before it got too hot. Then I was zapped. I NEED a copy of Killer Reputation as well as Reflections – the other pup ones, I already grabbed!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I thought of you when I spotted the pooches. LOL Killer Reputation is a review book and I’m excited to get my hands on it!

  18. I hoping to get some Crepe Myrtles to plant along my driveway. I’m waiting until I come across one of the dwarf varieties so they don’t get too big. I love seeing yours in bloom.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I tried Azaleas but never got them to take root. Weird, as they are a native bloom here. I’m glad I have these crepe myrtles. They are so pretty.

  19. Awesome photos! The humidity is what I hated most about Kentucky. It was like living inside a 100-degree swimming pool. Colorado is hot, but we don’t have the humidity here.

    • fuonlyknew says:

What’s funny is I work outside and can handle the heat and humidity as long as I’m active. The second I’m done I can’t stand it. LOL I love getting home and jumping in the pool:) You have the dry heat don’t you? I hear your skin gets so dry and your lips get chapped. A friend of mine visited Denver and kept getting nose bleeds.

  20. Oooh! Nice set of books you got here! Lovely flowers!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays and Cover Spotlight!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m thrilled at all of the exciting books I have to read this summer. Will be enjoying them in the mornings while sitting outside in my pretty yard:)

  21. Those are beautiful pictures of your garden. I can’t keep anything alive lol. That is funny about your dog. Our dog is the same way with blankets, she thinks they are all hers lol. I hope you get a break from the heat and enjoy your week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I need to get some house plants. I have one huge ponytail palm inside and that’s it. I don’t have such a green thumb for house plants. LOL You should see my bed. Every time I turn around, Quigley jumps up there and plls the quilt, sheet and pillows into a pile to lay on.. I love the scamp but can’t stand to sleep in dog hair. LOL

  22. Liliana E. says:

Those are some gorgeous pictures! And I hear ya about the heat! Luckily it hasn’t gotten too hot here quite yet, but we’re getting there! And I’m not looking forward to it. Lol

  23. Those blooms are BEAUTIFUL and the tree is HUGE! How are the bananas doing? 🍌

I can only imagine your heat. 😱 It was only 95° here and I couldn’t tell what it was in the house because our thermostat only goes to 90°. Ha ha. I’ve been wearing thin leggings and stuffing ice packs in them and one in my sports bra. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

You’ve got some great covers this week: Frog Legs, the squid book, Alice’s Magical Garden, and The Art of Fear. 📚

    Have a wonderful week. 🌞

    • fuonlyknew says:

The bananas are getting huge too. So is Flora. I’ll share more pics of them soon. Looks like we are getting a bit of a cool down with some rain this week. Only low 90s! LOL I love the children’s books I received. The actually print books have awesome illustrations!

  24. carolesrandomlife says:

Your trees are just beautiful! Neither me or my husband have any kind of green thumb so we just have weeds. It is sad. It has been so hot around here as well. I have been trying to get my dogs walked in the morning before it gets too bad so I don’t have to go out again. Have a great week and stay cool!

    • fuonlyknew says:

With our moist tropical climate it’s easy to grow things here. My dog is getting older and doesn’t take the heat too well anymore. He’s out to do business and right back in. LOL

  25. Daniela Ark says:

haha I love that most dogs are puppies for life. It was pretty insufferable here in New England yesterday so I can only imagine in the golf! BUT the pictures are indeed gorgeous! So The three digits don’t sound as such a bad price to pay for such beautiful sight! Thanks a lot for asking if everything was ok! you made my week!

  26. sjhigbee says:

I love those crepe myrtles – what an intense pink! We are having it very hot for the UK – I’m loving it, but having to say that quietly as so many folks I meet are finding it too much. I think I’m living in the wrong part of the world! As for your daft dog – it’s lovely he still wants to curl up on your knee when it is so hot:).

    • fuonlyknew says:

The weather is something this year. We had that weird winter and now its so hot so early. You just have to roll with it, right. Quig is such a sweet dork. LOL

  27. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

I’m at my parents’ place in South Carolina for the week and it’s hot as balls here. Also, their crape myrtles are all blooming here too. So so pretty!

  28. The Blooms look wonderful! Sorry you are melting, but I love summer so much and feel so much better that I will melt any day rather than face the cold.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I do hope I don’t sound like I’m complaining. I love summer and I’ll take hot over cold any time!

  29. Wow! That’s a tall Crepe Myrtle! We have a couple and they’re pretty good size but you’ve got a few feet on them easy. We’ve hit the point of summer where I’m staying inside most of the time unless I’m at the pool! Hope you’re having a great week and enjoy your books!

  30. I always love your plant pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us!

  31. That’s one thing I’m missing at the moment (because it’s so HOT) is my kitty curling up on my lap. It’s adorable that your dog doesn’t care it’s warm and tucks up anyway 🙂
