This is my own version of a weekly book haul and all things new on fuonlyknew.

I’m also linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Some chit chat.

I believe trouble comes in threes. This week I came home, went to watch a movie and my DVD player wouldn’t turn on. I went out to check the filter in my pool pump and it was broken. A storm blew through and lightning fried my cable modem, so no internet. Sheesh! I’m happy to report that I ordered a new DVD player and it’s already arrived and hooked up. The company is sending a new filter pump for the pool at no charge as I just purchased it in March. And I drove to the cable office and got a new modem so all is humky dory. I’m afraid to blink as who knows what might happen next. I’m also a form believer is good things come in threes too so crossing my fingers!

I thought I’d share some nature in all it’s wonder.

It was raining and the sun was shining. Look closely and you can see the rain pouring down from the roof.

I tried to get a rainbow pic but never saw one. Funny thing. It was raining in the front yard but not in the back.

And can you name this creature? It’s perched on a blade of grass right by the flower.

It was in the pool and I saved it.

Have a fabulous  Sunday and brand new week!

Yikes! Hopefully the trouble is done with and you can get some good karma now! And is that one of those walking stick bugs, or a mantis? I’m trying to get a good look at it. I always think it’s wild too when it’s raining in one area and not raining like right next to it!

Of Ice and Snow looks pretty awesome! And Zombie Yeti- that image on the cover almost looks like the snowbeast from Empire strikes Back?

    • fuonlyknew says:

I figure it’s time for some good Karma now. LOL I thought it was a walking stick at first but it’s a Mantis. Aren’t they usually green?
I thought the same thing about the Yeti. Between the covers and the titles, I had to give the series I try.

  2. Sorry to hear about your tech troubles. I hate it when your DVD players and cable don’t work! Hope you have a wonderful week!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays and Cover Spotlight!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I have this happen too often. One thing after another and for weeks I worry. LOL All fixed now and fingers crossed for good things to come:)

  3. I’m liking some of the covers! I plan to read my first Orlando A Sanchez book in August and I can’t wait to see what the series is like. I’ve added The Mystery of Flight 2222 to my wishlist as that cover is great and I like that kind of survival book. I love the zombie yeti cover but on looking at the blurb for the first book, the first line was enough to put me right off!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I’m thrilled to have found Orlando’s series. Already have more in the series to read. I hope Simon doesn’t turn you off. He does run off at the mouth. LOL The Mystery Of light 2222 is right up my alley also and that cover is killer! And I’m trying some authors that have been on my list. I figure if I don’t enjoy all of them, no harm, no foul. At least I’ll have satisfied my curiosity. LOL

  4. I think that is a Praying Mantis by the looks of it, those things are cool! Things do seem to happen in three but at least they were pretty easy fixes!

You got some great books…yay for The Mansion!

Have a great week and happy reading!

    • fuonlyknew says:

I believe I spotted The Mansion on your blog? I promised myself no more ARCs but I couldn’t resist. LOL Especially as I enjoyed his spiders series so much. That is a Praying Mantis. They look cool but I wouldn’t want to be her mate. LOL Off with his head!

  5. I, too, believe it is a mantis. But I’m not an expert. Hope things get better!

    • fuonlyknew says:

When I first saw it in the pool, the color made me think walking stick. I thought a mantis was green? Huh…

  6. Oh wow, all that trouble! I’m glad it’s mostly sorted and I hope it won’t trouble you again. That picture with the rain is awesome, I can totally see the rain drops 🙂
    Have a nice week, Laura!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Thanks, Everything is okay now. I hope that’s it for a while. LOL I love that pic. It amazes me what a camera phone can capture sometimes!

  7. Angelica Joy says:

As you had, it comes in 3s. Your 3s have passed so it won’t be bad anytime so soon 🙂

  8. Jenea says:

Oh no, that sounds like a n awful.week. Glad everything is back to normal. Hope.next week.is a good one for you. Enjoy your new books too.

    • fuonlyknew says:

I think what got me the most was all the hassle and driving and phone calls to get it sorted out. Glad it’s done with for now:)

  9. kozbisa says:

Oh my goodness! That storm really did a number on you. Glad you were able to get everything back in order so quickly.

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s all taken care of now. We get the heat from the Gulf waters and it blows up some nasty storms. Now I cringe every time one comes by. It’ll be a while before I relax. LOL

  10. Daniela Ark says:

oh man, I’ve crafted a counter-spell to fight whatever black magic has fallen over your technology! here t goes [shuuuushhhh, boom!] I think I’ve seen those kind of… [worms?] around before. I like how The Mansion looks like! Hope it is good!

  11. Sorry to hear about your technical problems. Totally understand!! 😕 hope it’s all plain sailing ⛵️ from now on! You’ve got some great covers there and some really interesting picks, coming back to add some. 😍😍😍

  12. Well at least you were able to easily fix all those issues! What a pain though! Hopefully this week is filled with your 3 good things!

  13. OMG, I am terrified of those kinds of storms, although we usually don’t have lightning striking when it rains.

I guess I’ll stop complaining about triple digit heat! I’ll take that over storms any day. We do have the occasional earthquakes…and wildfires, though.

I’m glad you were able to replace and repair so quickly…hang in there for the three good things.

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  14. I added so many books I didn’t share them. Didn’t have enough time. Revenge of the zombie yeti sounds like a hoot. Wish that one was free. lol

  15. Yvonne says:

I believe in things come in threes too. I’m glad you were able to get all of your problems solved. It is so annoying when anything like that happens, though. Hope you have a good week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s funny how each thing made me angry but then I was happy at how easily it was all resolved. Just a pain going through the process. LOL

  16. I hope nothing else breaks. It’s hard to tell what the creature is, but it looks like a mantis to me.

  17. Me again! I hope you don’t mind but just posted a bit of a rant. I wondered if you could take a moment of your time to pop by and let me know what you 💭 think ! Thank you 😊

  18. StackingMy BookShelves says:

Glad you saved it, but what is it? It has been raining a ton here too. Last week it was sunny till I hit the hill that I live on and all it was was downpouring. So weird. Have a wonderful week!

    Mary

    • fuonlyknew says:

It’s a Praying Mantis but I’ve only ever seen green ones. Most curious! It was raining in the front yard but never did in the back. Nature is amazing!

  19. Hope good things are coming your way!

  20. I see quite a few books here I want to grab. Glad your curse of threes was resolved fairly easily with no real lasting hardship. I always worry about storms and am pretty much afraid of them but I’ve learned to fake calmness because my dogs really pick up on my anxiety which makes theirs worse. I think that Red book sounds cool. Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast are my favorite fairy tales so I’m always up for retellings. Hope you have a wonderful week!

    • fuonlyknew says:

Red was free when I got it. Spotted it in her newsletter and I’ve liked a lot of her books. I’m not a fan of storms, especially with lightning. My dog sure doesn’t like them either.

  21. S. J. Pajonas (spajonas) says:

Yikes! That’s a lot of bad things! Hopefully your bad luck is at an end, though. 🙂

  22. Did the rain cool things off? I’m still waiting on my third thing to break. I think it’s going to be my coffee maker. I really should just call it broken because I have to pound on the top of it to get the coffee to come out. 😂

That’s one lucky praying mantis! 👍

I see lots of dog books! 🐕

Here’s to your three good things happening this week. 🌞

    • fuonlyknew says:

For a bit. And then it got very humid. I try not to complain about the heat as I don’t do cold. LOL Yep, that Mantis is alive and doing its thing. LOL

  23. A Renfro says:

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Maybe it is behind you now. Have a great week.

  24. It’s true! It does seem to always come in threes! Glad your mishaps were minor though and resolved pretty quickly. 🙂
    Have a good week!

  25. Beware Of The Reader says:

Catching up with the comments after YALC… well Laura in French we have a saying that would translate like “When it rains it pours” meaning yes the problems never come alone! Here to hoping your week is better!

  26. Liliana E. says:

Honestly, I’m jealous of the rain you got. Lol. Currently here it’s 105F and a little rain sounds amazing! I am so over this heat and cannot wait for Fall to come around lol.

  27. Lelia T says:

Yep, definitely a praying mantis. Most are green but they can also be brown when they need camouflage. Seeing one is good luck in some parts so maybe it will be for you 😉

    • fuonlyknew says:

I never thought about camoufluge as he is on the grass. But I rescued it from the pool and it was on a brown leaf! I sure could use the good luck:)

  28. Things really do come in threes! Although I’ve never heard someone say that good things come in threes. I’ll have to think on that. Glad you got everything replaced so quickly.
